About this property

Red Top Cabin within walking distance of Douglas Lake

This property is located on 17 beautiful wooded acres next to Douglas Lake, near Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Knoxville, TN.. It is owned by Mountain Lake Ranch, which has other buildings including the large and rustic Log Cabin Lodge with 8 bedrooms that sleeps up to 64 people. We also have the huge hotel style Main Lodge with 16 bedrooms that also sleeps up to 64. These venues are perfect for church groups & retreats, family reunions, anniversaries, birthday parties, etc.
The "Red Top" cabin, so called because of its' bright red roof, is located in our quiet campground that has lots of greenery. It is a one room cabin with full bathroom (tub/shower) and has a Queen size bed as well as a full size hide-a-bed. There is also a crawl-in loft with a futon mattress and the loft is large enough for a couple of children, but not recommended for small ones. It is accessible by a ladder. The living area features a full size refrigerator, full size gas stove and oven as well as a microwave/convection oven. There is a TV with antenna, but no cable and the stations are limited. It is recommended that our guests bring DVDs for the player provided in order to watch TV. The cabin is air conditioned/heated.

Very nice place
We had stayed on the property in the little cabin last year. The little cabin was nice for a one night stay as there's no kitchen. The red room cabin is bigger and has a full kitchen. The bed was very comfortable. If i had a criticism it would probably be that some of the other places we have stayed had complimentary items. The red roof cabin had a coffee maker and filters but there was no coffee. If you stay here make sure you bring items like coffee and snacks with you as they don't provide them like some other places do. All in all it is a nice place nd we would stay there again.

Cozy Cottage
Sweet little tiny house experience. This is our second stay. Like last time the Hosts were pleasant and accommodating. Close to everything but tucked back in a sweet little community at the Mountain Ranch Grounds.

Short getaway
It quickly became our favorite vacation home. None of us had any complaints. We arrived later than expected and they already had the lights on for us which made it easier to find. It had everything that we needed and even things we didn't know we needed. It was so cute and the neighbors were nice and very helpful. Already planning our next trip there next year. We didn't make time to walk to the lake but we'll plan better next time. Thank you for everything.

Amazing
Located in a quiet campground setting, this was perfect get away, close enough to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg and Cades Cove, but without all the hustle and bustle. Property was very clean and the bed/pillows very comfortable

Needs better cable
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay neighbors had the look and feel of drug users BUT IT was quiet. We stayed on opening NFL GAME DAY and we were not able to see any game the only channel available was ABC. We even brought our travel satellite and could not hook it up too much interference from trees, other than that it was adorable cabin and relaxing stay. Also it said walking distance to lake but we never saw the lake. All in all nice /reasonable cabin.

About the host

Hosted by Betty

Host profile image
Tom and Betty moved from Florida to East Tennessee looking for a centralized place for a Retreat Center. Our hearts were with churches who wanted to take their youth, couples, families away to a quiet place for R&R and to minister to their groups. Our great location close to interstates and close to the fun activities just down the road from the ranch. We have enjoyed raising three sons here at the ranch and they have been such a big part of this family enterprise. Our youngest son, David, was killed on his motorcycle in 2013 but Daniel and Tim are still very much a part of keeping things going here at the ranch. Now we watch our grandchildren growing up here. What a blessing that is!

Why they chose this property

This property caught our eye and our hearts because of the convenience for travelers no matter which direction they were coming from. I- 40 is just 2 miles, I-75 only about 20 and we are easily accessible for two thirds of the United States in only a day's drive. Our lake access adds possibilities for our guests as well as our fishing pond and natural beauty of the area.

What makes this property unique

Our guests tell us that their favorite thing about Mountain Lake Ranch is that it is a quiet, peaceful place to come home to after a busy day enjoying the many possibilities that the area offers including Dollywood, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains.
