About this property
Mingus Park Place - Coos Bay
Our home is conveniently located on the edge of downtown Coos Bay, in a nice, family friendly neighborhood. It’s just a short walk with no steep hills to a variety of restaurants, pubs, antique shops and the boardwalk. We are situated directly across the street from beautiful Mingus Park.
We have three bedrooms and two full baths. On the first floor is a fully equipped kitchen and dining room with a large six person table, the living-room with gas fireplace, a full bath with soaking tub, the queen bedroom with pillow top mattress and our spacious laundry room with full capacity washer/dryer and plenty of counter space to fold laundry and also a utility sink.
Out the back of the house through the laundry room door, you’ll find the spacious backyard with room to play, the covered patio area and an uncovered space to the right where you can BBQ with our Weber charcoal grill.
Upstairs you will find our coffee bar with a Keurig and mini fridge, an electric piano and the rooftop deck with table and seating for 4. Our second full bathroom has a shower with seating and dual sinks. The twin bedroom has two comfortable twin beds and a shared nightstand. The master bedroom has a plush king bed, a little seating area with a table for two and a lovely view overlooking Mingus Park and the surrounding neighborhood.
This is a smoke-free, pet-free home. We ask that you please keep that in mind. We wish to respect those of our guests who may have allergies or sensitivities.
If your desired days are booked, please check back. Our calendar is updated frequently.

Why they chose this property
My dad was looking for a house to make his home for when he grows up :) and after years of searching, we finally found the perfect place. Naming it Mingus Park Place was his idea. It’s a very nice house and he’s a funny guy, so I think the name fits.
Why this house? His main concerns were that home have at least one bedroom, a full bathroom & the laundry room on the main floor. This house has all that and more & had been updated beautifully.
He was looking for a neighborhood that was “walkable” to stay active. This place is perfect in that regard. There are no hills to climb to get downtown and it’s directly across the street from Mingus Park.
A small lake with a wide, paved walking path sits at the center of the park. There are many benches facing the water along the way, and to complete the walk around the water, it’s about a half mile. There’s a beautiful Japanese garden with another pond nestled in the woods at the north end of the park.
Everything downtown is just a few blocks away and there are many great restaurants and shops to explore on this section of Highway 101 (known as S. Broadway in Coos Bay.)
If you love Mexican food like we do, it’s about a five minute walk to Margarita’s Mexican Grill. That’s our closest restaurant. McKay’s grocery is across the street from Margarita’s, and a Dutch Bro’s coffee shop, Dairy Queen and convenience store are all located on that same corner. Very convenient.
So, dad found his dream home, but until he is ready to make the move up here, we are sharing it with fellow travelers who need a place to feel at home while exploring our southern Oregon coast.
If it’s chilly when you get here, or in the evening after a long day of adventures, just flip on the gas fireplace with the remote control and snuggle up with one of our many cozy throw blankets. You’ll feel right at home.
The house was built in 1952 by Herman Ewald Finell, a local craftsman known for his fine woodwork and was elegantly updated in 2015.

What makes this property unique
Highlights & Features:
When you book with us, you can be certain the house will be clean. I don’t hire someone to clean for me. I clean and sanitize everything myself. I do a regular clean & then I go over it again & sanitize all the surfaces.
All bedding is laundered for each guest and all the bed pillows have hypoallergenic covers as a double layer of protection.
From our home it’s a flat, easy walk to the park and everything downtown Coos Bay has to offer!
There’s a covered back patio area downstairs within the large fenced backyard where you can BBQ & play and private rooftop deck with a good view of the Coos Bay boardwalk firework show on the 4th of July.
The large soaking tub on the main floor, and on demand hot water throughout, means you’ll never get stuck with cold water. Soak to your heart’s content, and never have a cold shower!
There’s a great view from the king bedroom. You’ll see Mingus Park and then to the east, the baseball field and skate park. Beyond the park is a small mountain covered in beautiful evergreen trees. It's a lovely view, and there are no houses directly across the street from us, so you’ll see just trees and the park looking north.
The gas fireplace in the living room is very efficient and warms up the house really quickly. Come back after a long day and enjoy the fireplace on a chilly evening. Quickly turn it on with the remote which we keep on the wall to the right of the TV.
In the kitchen, a beautiful gas cook top with two ovens, plenty of granite countertop space for food prep and a large dining table.
The wide, gradual staircase is well lit in the daytime by many windows, and at night you can use the wall switches at the top and bottom of the stairs to light your way.
We provide all the basics you may need to wash, dry, iron and fold, in our spacious laundry room with full size washer and dryer. You’ll find plenty of counter space in the laundry room, as well as a large utility sink for whatever your need.
