What makes this property unique
The location of Maes Artro Lodge is ideal for for lovers of coastal holidays and those wanting to explore the mountains, alongside the history and heritage of the area. Located on a small lodge park surrounded by woodland, the pretty village of Llanbedr is only a short walk away offering shops, dining options and mountain bike hire. A short drive, or slightly longer walk of a couple of miles, leads to the Wales Coast Path at the Morfa Dyffryn National Nature Reserve with its wild and wonderful golden sandy beaches and spectacular sand dunes. Heading inland, the Rhinogydd mountain range is only a short distance away with a number of walking routes to the peaks of Rhinog Fawr and Rhinog Fach. Less popular than the busier sections of Eryri (Snowdonia National Park), these landscapes are wonderful to explore away from the crowds.
A ten minute drive North leads to the gorgeous town of Harlech with its pretty courtyards, independent shops and cafes. The main landmark, the imposing thirteenth century Harlech Castle, stands atop a rocky outcrop in the town with epic views of Bae Ceredigion (Cardigan Bay) and the peaks of Snowdonia National Park. Harlech's stunning expanse of sandy beach is one of the best in Wales, and shouldn't be missed on a trip to the town. Keen golfers can also visit the popular Royal St. David's Gold Club, flanked between the town and sand dunes with spectacular Snowdonia views.
Heading south from the three bedroom lodge with hot tub and log fire, the popular seaside holiday resort of Barmouth is only a fifteen minute drive away. The location where the mountains meet the sea, Barmouth sits on the edge of the Mawddach Estuary and the harbour offers spectacular mountain backdrop beyond the famous Grade II listed railway viaduct - the longest timber viaduct in Wales and one of the oldest in Britain. There are some great walks than can be taken from Barmouth including the Mawddach Trail which heads inland along an old railway line route towards Dolgellau.
