The space
A fantastic self-catering barn in an area of incredible beauty, with loads to do. The view from the barn will captivate you morning and night.

**Remote Getaway - Exclusive Use**
We are fortunate to live in a rural, remote part of North Devon, with no near neighbours on a 20 acre Farm. Thinking about Coronavirus and responding to enquiries from friends far and near, we are able to offer you a complete secluded area.

Lower Whitsleigh Farm also encourage all the family to help feed our animals! From a young age, many children are drawn to animals and find them a constant source of fascination, humour and wonder. So at Lower Whitsleigh Farm we’re a big fan of providing holidays which give children the option to spend time around animals. Free Animal Experiences are provided each day at 8am.

With countryside views and walks yet within 25 - 30 minutes of award winning beaches it is the perfect location for peacefulness and lovely walks. We are also set an equal distance between Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks, and with RHS Rosemoor Gardens only 5 minutes away.

Join in the daily animal feeding and experience the farming lifestyle by going out and meeting all the farm animals, all waiting to be pet and fed. It is especially exciting for all the children as they get to interact with the animals and learn lots about them, creating lifetime memories. By the end of your holiday they are proper little farmers.

Every morning after breakfast, we feed our animals with the help of the young apprentice farmers staying. The very favourite activity is always feeding the chickens and collecting the eggs. Even our tiniest guests love our poultry and are brave enough to throw a handful of corn! There is a chance to hold them every morning too. We also allow our guests to keep the eggs they have collected for a fresh and authentic country breakfast

Pigs
There’s only one thing that our mischievous pigs love more than a mud bath – breakfast! And the only thing they love more than their normal breakfast is banana skins, so save yours up and watch them chomp them down.

Chickens
Little one’s love feeding the chickens. And seeing them crouched down with a pot of grain and a big smile, while our tame chickens contentedly peck away, always makes a great photo. All of our Chickens are ex-battery hens that we have rescued and given a new lease of free- range living

Donkeys
Meet our lovely donkey family! Daphne, the brown and white beauty, and Delilah, the hairier grey one, along with their 1-year-old son Dave and Roy, our 1-year-old Irish Donkey. These delightful donkeys are rescues from the Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth. Just like labradors, they are incredibly friendly, gentle, and thrive on attention.
These curious donkeys may greet you with four noses over your wall if you're outside! Feel free to pet them or venture into the field with them, but, as with any animal, exercise caution and avoid approaching from behind or making quick movements or loud noises that might startle them. They have a soft spot for the occasional carrot, apple, and their absolute favorite treat—ginger biscuits. Just be mindful of their excitement, and watch those fingers!

Sheep
Meet Minty and Chops, our adorable resident sheep! These two lovable companions were taken in as orphans, and we've had the pleasure of bottle-feeding them. This nurturing has made them exceptionally friendly, and their close bond is heartwarming. Interestingly, they seem a bit uncertain about their true identity, behaving more like donkeys as they live together and roam around as a delightful little herd. Their charming personalities and unique friendship add a touch of joy to our farm. Feel free to say hello and share a moment with Minty and Chops during your stay! During Spring time we take on new lambs so please join in the bottle feeds!

Parents have told us that their children are so excited after having helped us feed and care for the animals during their holiday that when they get back to school they write about it or even do a project on what they have seen and learned. It is always rewarding to see how much the children absorb in helping us feed the animals. By the end of their holiday they know exactly who gets fed, when, how much and a bit about general animal husbandry.

Dog Friendly Cottages
We are dog and pet friendly. Lower Whitsleigh Farm is set within 20 acres giving your furry friends room to roam freely. There are also a number of dog friendly walks, dog friendly pubs and dog friendly beaches nearby which we are more than happy to point you in the direction of.

Our dog friendly cottages come equipped with a comfortable bed, a dog bowl, biscuits and a towel. The only thing we ask is that you don’t leave your dog unattended, or allow them on furniture or upstairs and to clean up after them.

We hope your dog enjoys its surroundings as much as you do.

Bees
We started bee keeping 2 years ago and brought our hives of bees with us to Devon. The plan is to expand our colonies to increase the number of these amazing and important creatures in our environment.

Soak Up the Peace and Quiet
One of the most delightful things about Lower Whitsleigh Farm, so our guests tell us, is the chance to really unwind. There’s something wonderfully relaxing about reconnecting with nature; watching the swallows flitting over the meadows or the bees buzzing in the flowers; hearing birds of prey high in the sky, watching the barn owls at dusk or gazing out over the fields. Come night- time, when the dark sky is punctuated with millions of stars, you’ll succumb to a deep and peaceful sleep.
