The Space:
SLEEPING AND LAYOUT
Bedroom: 1 king bed and 1 single bed, built-in wardrobes, blackout blinds
Open plan Kitchen and Living area: 1 king bed and 1 sofa bed, 50-inch smart TV, opens onto the private balcony
THE VIEW
The apartment looks out over the London skyline from the bedroom, the living area and the private balcony, where most people end up in the morning with a coffee. After dark the whole thing lights up, with the towers of Canary Wharf off to one side.
For the river, go up to the building's shared roof terrace: the city one way, the River Thames the other. It is quiet most of the time, which makes it the best seat in the place for a sunset, a glass of wine, or a private photography session.
KITCHEN AND DINING
A full kitchen, not a kitchenette: dishwasher, washer, oven and stovetop, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, and a large refrigerator-freezer. Dishes, pans, glasses and silverware for all five, and a dining table to use them at. Supermarkets and a good spread of restaurants are within a 15-minute walk, so self-catering here is as easy as at home.
INTERNET AND ENTERTAINMENT
1GB fiber internet throughout, with a dedicated workspace. A 50-inch smart TV, ready for you to sign in to Netflix, Prime Video or BBC iPlayer with your own accounts.
GETTING AROUND LONDON
Canada Water station is a 15-minute walk. From there the Jubilee line - one of London's subway lines - reaches London Bridge and Borough Market in around 25 minutes door to door, with Waterloo, Soho, and the West End theaters not much further. City buses run from 5 minutes away.
Greenland Pier is 5 minutes from the front door. The Thames Clippers river ferry runs from there and reaches Canary Wharf in about 5 minutes and Battersea in 30. It is a commuter service and takes contactless card payment, but it is also the best sightseeing tour in London.
Greenwich - the Cutty Sark, Greenwich Market and the Royal Observatory, where the world's time is set - is around 25 minutes away, and The O2 arena with its outlet shopping is much the same. On a clear day, the Thames Path walks you all the way to Tower Bridge along the river.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD
The property is located in a quiet stretch of the south bank between Canada Water and Greenland Dock, nestled in marinas and a riverside path that runs for miles in both directions. It is residential rather than touristy, which is why it stays calm at night, and it sits close to a great deal without being in the middle of any of it. Canada Water has everyday shops, independent cafes and unique restaurants within a 15-minute walk, and Southwark Park, Greenland Dock and Stave Hill Ecological Park are all a few minutes on foot - useful green space if you are traveling with children.
