We were so thrilled with our stay at this property - it went above and beyond our expectations . We had plenty of space for our family of five including two teenagers and one 11-year-old. We loved the fact that there were two large living areas, including a downstairs room with a working wood-burning fireplace, plenty of wood available, and room for games and watching TV as a family (we enjoyed sitting around doing a puzzle and watching the Olympics together!). Everything was extremely clean, and most importantly the mattresses were extremely comfortable! The kitchen was well stocked with anything we could need. Only about a four minute drive from the ski resort. I am looking forward to booking this property again and would recommend it to anyone!

Great weekend

Wonderful place to stay. Close enough to the lake but far enough out where it was peaceful and quiet. House was clean and had everything that you need for a wonderful weekend with family and friends.

Very relaxing and a nice clean place. Only issue was wasps in upstairs bathroom, maybe through skylight and if we shut the bedroom door for privacy the ac wasnt in the room so it gets warm.

Vacation in Homestead house

The house is perfect for a vacation getaway in the McHenry area. Very comfy home in a country setting. Close to other towns. The owners of this house deserve 5 stars! We will stay here again when we vacation in the future out this way.

Weekend getaway

Beautiful and comfortable home. We visited the surrounding Deep Creek Lake and it was about 20 mins away (driving). The house truly had everything we needed to make meals and even grill. The property was quiet and great for a peaceful getaway.

Beautiful getaway weekend

A couple of my friends and I wanted a nice getaway in the mountains and this house was absolutely perfect for that, in a very nice neighborhood, not too far from town and activities, beautiful interior, very clean and cozy inside! The house provided everything we needed, washer and dryer, stove, microwave, toaster, warm water, comfy beds and memories that will last us a lifetime! Thank you for such a great stay!

Ski Weekend

What a great house for 2 small families. We loved the set up of the house and the kitchen was well equipped. The proximity to Wisp was very convenient. The updates on the front of the house look nice (seeing it in person and in comparison to the pics online). The beds could be a bit softer. The area the house is located in is very quiet and quaint.

Nice accormodation "BUT"

This is a nice accommodation in a very scenic neighborhood. The place was clean. However, giving it only 3 stars is because of the very low water pressure in the bathrooms. The shower in 2nd bathroom will not work if the other bathroom or kitchen sink tap is open. Also, the key lock box code to enter the house was not provided in advance. We had to call the office for the code after reaching the house and the response time was not quick.

2nd time around - just as FAB!

Just stayed at Mainstead for the second time, and it was just as amazing as the first time (which was 3 years ago). This house is so cozy and was the perfect getaway for our family to see the beautiful fall colors at Deep Creek Lake. The fireplace came in quite handy with the weekend's cold snap. The house was very clean, linens and towels included and bright white, and overall an extremely pleasant experience. We will return for sure!

Mainstead was a Pleasure

Great place to stay! The area is loaded with wildlife, it is centrally located to McHenry, it was easy to find, nice mattresses, and the place was clean and tidy with no major issues. Cooking in this house was a breeze, and it had easy access for my elderly mother of 94. Would definitely return and without hesitation. We are five time VRBO veterans and this place was the best.

Cleanest House!

This house is the cleanest house I have ever rented. House was close to everything and in a beautiful location and had everything that we could need. If going in winter you will need 4 wheel drive- it snowed the first 2 days of our trip and even with the management plowing the driveway twice we needed to use it. Our only issue was the trash bins were hard to access with the significant amount of snow on the ground/bins/driveway. Would definitely stay here again!

Absolutely the very best home and location

We are so happy to have found a very comfy and spacious home for a long weekend skiing at Wisp for our family. We appreciate the starter kit (hand soap, dish soap, paper towels and toilet paper) as we arrived late at night. The kitchen has everything and more to make meals for all of us. The house also has so much toys for our 3 yrs old as well. The house is just minutes from the slopes, so convenience. We will definitely come back to this home. .

Friends for Forty Years

We loved staying at this place! House was great - super clean and comfortable. Kitchen was well-stocked with everything in working condition. Pots and pans a plenty as well as cups, glasses and dinnerware. The beds were really comfortable. Everything is top-notch. The property is lovely and close to Wisp. Would definitely consider renting again.

NO A.C. !!!!!! very very hot and uncomfortable. Water pressure was very low.... And most kitchen stuff were old and dirty... So were the furnitures... Jay the property manager was rude and unhelpful..
