We chose to stay at the Farmhouse on Solsgirth Farm for my 50th birthday with family - 6 adults and 3 children aged 10 and above. The Farmhouse far exceeded our expectations and we were blown away by the facilities available and the positive interactive welcome and continual welcoming throughout our weekend stay.
The Farmhouse has a large kitchen area perfect for large groups, with beautiful views across the farm and fields. We received a high quality and thoughtful welcome basket with all we could need and more - red and white wine, hen and duck eggs, bread, milk, jam, marmalade and freshly baked shortbread - tasted beautiful.
The kitchen amenities provided everything we could need, including a fancy coffee machine which was perfect for making the coffee that we bought within the Farm itself. In the local cafe area, there is a coffee which produces coffee beans, with beautiful blends available. We were really impressed with the passion and interaction we had with the coffee maker - we all got to understand the background of the different coffees and experience the smells. When we purchased a coffee bean bag, they were able to grind the beans for us there and then so we could enjoy it in the Farmhouse.
We were met on arrival by the owner who had the outdoor hot tub warm and ready for us - this was a delight which we were able to enjoy after our meal on the first evening. The outdoor area and views are so pretty, immersed in nature and relaxing. The hot tub itself was bigger than I've ever seen!
Our children (and us!) loved exploring the farm and visiting the animals during the day. We had a lovely time feeding the highland cows, the goats, and holding the baby chicks. The farm animals are so well looked after and a real passion of the owner, family and local workers. It really is a lovely place to visit even without staying on the property itself.
As we explored around the property, we kept finding more and more amenities that made our stay so special - including fun games for the garden, games for indoor, easily connectable wifi, a great TV comfy room which our children enjoyed.
My Dad has mobility issues and he found the property exceptionally easy to navigate around. We had plenty comfy bedrooms, bathrooms, toilets available. All were really luxurious, especially the showers offering a shower head and overhead shower with continual hot water available for all.
The Farmhouse was immaculate and the best value for money we've experienced in any local self-catering experience. We will be back! Thank you so much for the hospitality and the best weekend.
