Hi Andrew, Thank you for your review. Fern Cottage is the perfect home from home. Situated in the quiet village of Portinscale, the cottage has everything you need for a break in the Lakes. Inside you will find a log burner for those cooler days and the outside space is perfect for sunnier days. It is only a short walk in to Keswick where you will find lots of interesting shops, a cinema and plenty of restaurants. WE hope you had a fantastic stay! Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

A lovely stay!

Well placed for a walk into Keswick, or escaping into the hills! Clean and comfortable and worked well for two teenagers and a toddler. Quiet location and some nice views, lovely secluded garden. Would happily stay here again.

Birthday break in the Lakes

Although the weather was awful, we were pleased to have such a cosy cottage to come back to. It had all the amenities we could possibly need, and the cleanliness was second to none. The location was great. Quiet, with lovely mountain views, but close enough to walk into Keswick. Definitely hope to come back.

A lovely rental property

Fern Cottage was lovely - comfy, cosy and clean. Perfect being a detached property, and the secure garage storage for the bikes was a bonus. Just be careful on the drive - it is steep and low cars may struggle with the hump at the top. We have a reasonably high car and still caught the exhaust with a fully loaded car. That said, it is a lovely property and we will definitely book again.

A perfect New Year week - best holiday cottage we've stayed in

Fern Cottage was the perfect NY holiday. Certainly one of the best holiday cottages we've ever stayed in. The Customer Service was exceptional - we've never received such an amazing welcome pack. Lovely house, super comfy beds. We particularly loved sitting in the conservatory enjoying the mountain views. Will definitely use Keswick Cottages again - very impressed.

Great cottage, great location, a perfect break

When staying in the Lakes where the weather can be challenging at times, it is important to have a comfortable base where you might have to spend more time indoors than you would ideally like. Fern cottage fits the bill, spacious and comfortable seating areas including a conservatory. Well equipped kitchen and powerful shower. We will return.

A brilliant first family holiday, couldn't fault it!

Our first family holiday with our new born, we really couldn't fault the cottage at all. Location perfect, decorated nicely and even for the age of the property it had largely been refurnished where needed to have everything wanted. A huge well done to the cleaning team, we've never stayed somewhere so spotless! We'll certainly be coming back, thanks for a brilliant week.

An excellent place to stay near Keswick

We stayed here in July and were very pleased with the quality and cleanliness of the house. There was plenty of room in the house and garden. It is in a nice, quiet neighbourhood, just a mile or so walk into Keswick. Hoping to come back to Fern Cottage one day!

Excellent modern well equipped House

Excellent property for staying in Portiscale. Fittings and decoration to a high standard with great facilities. Not the cheapest but a high standard. Recommended.

Comfortable stay

All good … would re-book if we are in the area. However, if I was being picky … I would suggest an upgrade to a smart tv in the lounge. Guests could then access IPlayer etc. More hooks for coats / towels. Drive quite steep - dip at top may be an issue for low wheelbase cars.

Perfect family holiday home

We loved our stay at Fern Cottage! We felt relaxed, comfortable and at home from the minute we arrived. The pictures do not do it justice.... it was more spacious than we thought and it has such incredible views. There are many wonderful walks from the doorstep, either a quick stroll down to the lakeside or to the mountains (We climbed Barrow and Catbells on our stay!). Keswick is also a short walk away, 15-20 minutes depending on your speed and we enjoyed the walk! The house itself was so clean, comfy beds, kitchen full of every amenity we needed and so peaceful. The fire was an extra bonus and so cosy and comfortable relaxing in the warmth after our walks. We would not hesitate to book it again! :-)
