This is "Gravelfoyle" with hundreds of kilometers of trails for walking, hiking and cycling meandering through the park. Understandable that this was the birthplace of tourism in Scotland. Poets, writers and film crews have all featured this scenic area including Sir Walter Scott who drew inspiration from the beauty of the area to write the poem "The Lady of The Lake". Cruise across Loch Katrine on the iconic Sir Walter Scott, a must-do for any visitor - the steamship departs directly from Stronachlachar sailing across to The Trossachs.
Spend time with loved ones, creating cherished memories which will last a lifetime.
In my prortfolio, I own Stronachlachar Lodge, Wattie Cottage and Scott Cottage, all of these sit side by side and guests can book all of the properties to allow you to host larger family get togethers, small events or subject to prior agreement weddings.

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful and very special house. The location by the loch is absolutely stunning, and the house offered plenty of space for our large family group. We really enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and had a lovely week together. Alex was friendly and helpful throughout. Thank you for having us!
Everything about this house is marvellous and makes it a beautiful stay and a marvellous setting for a family get together. I would highly recommend it, you won’t be disappointed.
The views and the house are spectacular. We got our money's worth and more. Clean with everything you need. Even supplied us with wood for the fireplace. We loved the living room views and called it the cozy room. Rooms were big, beds comfortable, plenty of bathrooms. Caught a Pike and trout as well. Special memories to keep forever
We were lucky enough to spend Christmas in this beautiful house.Every corner of every room is well thought out and lovely. It's a warm comfortable house that has the most spectacular views It's really well appointed with anything you could possibly need.Everyone in our group loved their stay.
This property was wonderful to stay at with a large family gathering. The area was beautiful and the lodge was outstanding. The kitchen was fully equipped and a great gathering spot. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and some even braved a dip in the loch. I highly recommend this property and Alex is a wonderful host.

My family and I had had the most wonderful stay at Stronachlachar Lodge. The house is ABSOLUTELY stunning, with picturesque views from almost every window, and being directly on Loch Katarine. It is so peaceful and despite being so big, it is incredibly homely. The bedrooms are all huge (there are 4 double bedrooms and 2 twin bedrooms with 4 beautiful bathroom / shower rooms & extra wc on ground floor) The owners were so lovely, on hand if we needed anything and couldn't do enough to make our stay comfortable. The house is very well equipped with every pan/utensil/crockery etc that you could wish for as well as a washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher. Locally there are some excellent walks/cycle paths and Inversnaid Waterfall is well worth a visit. The lovely Pier cafe is just a stones throw away serving breakfast & lunch. The local co-op is a few miles away in the nearby town, Aberfoyle. There is a pub Faeirie Tree Inn in Aberfoyle also and a some other good eateries (the Bistro at the Inversnaid Bunkhouse is incredible! The black dog pub in Gartmore does lovely food (no Sunday lunch tho on the menu when we visited in April) and Nicks at Port of Menteith was a lovely Michelin Star restaurant but at very very reasonable prices!). I could not recommend this stunning home enough if you're looking for a brilliant, large family holiday or corporate event.
Stronachlachar Lodge is the perfect place to explore the Scottish countryside. All rooms have lake views. Very spacious and easily accommodated our group of 8. The kitchen is large, has everything you need and is a great gathering place. There is a small cafe next door. Alexandra is a great host who adds lots of personal touches. She gave lots of restaurant suggestions and all were fantastic. Be sure to stop at Maggie’s Aberfoyle Kitchen on the way in to load up on shortbread.
Highly recommend Stronachlachar Lodge! The home is neatly kept with plenty of little extras to make it even more welcoming. Beds are comfortable. Kitchen is very spacious. Alex was a masterful host: readily available and helpful but not intrusive. We had a group of 10 (two families) with children aged 7 through 19. Adults and children all enjoyed the stay.

About the host
Hosted by Alexandra Docherty
Some of my earliest memories were of long summers in Stronachlachar - walking the trails, boating on the loch and generally exploring. For me this was a truly magical time, it has always been an enchanting place which has drawn me back over the years.
2025 presented an opportunity to fulfill a lifetime dream of finally owning this wonderful house. The plan is to transform and enhance the house into something truly remarkable.
We hope you like what you experience, and that you too will make memories that last a lifetime.
Why they chose this property
Peace, tranquility, childhood memories of idyllic magical summers exploring the woodlands. The sheer scenic beauty is captivating with every changing season, unspoilt, a treasured location. The weather, not forgetting the weather - truly transforms the landscape.
What makes this property unique
The best location within the destination with commanding views over the loch, spacious interior and extensive gardens. This house has been attracting visitors since 1888. Today, she is a holiday home rental with a new generation of guests - some with families, others, a group of friends. It is ideal for that family gathering, reunions, landmark birthdays, or a weekend getaway with friends. For hosting a larger event, I also own Scott and Wattie Cottages, which are adjacent to The Lodge. By prior arrangement, we may consider weddings in the grounds - this must be discussed and agreed upon prior to making a booking.
