About this property
The Neap - sleeps 2 guests in 1 bedroom
The Neap is a charming converted barn and comfortable holiday retreat, ideal for a relaxing couples break or a solo stay; situated off the beaten track in the peaceful village of Toller Fratrum.
Sitting in the Toller Valley and within the courtyard of Lower Dairy House, The Neap has characterful features including exposed stonework, beams and high ceilings The accommodation has been thoughtfully designed and furnished to offer a comfortable setting which includes an open-plan sitting room with a wood burning stove, a separate dining area and a well-appointed kitchen. The attractive bedroom has a king-size bed, plenty of storage and french doors which offer pretty views of the hillside opposite and lead out to the quiet lane and parking area. A stylish bathroom with overhead shower, wash basin and WC completes the accommodation.
Outside you will find a sheltered gravelled courtyard, the perfect place for enjoying your morning coffee or an al fresco meal whilst looking out across the pretty garden and owners' pond, and listening to birdsong. Steps lead up to a wild corner of the garden where you can sit on the bench and take in the surrounding views or watch the bees and butterflies keeping busy.
Toller Fratrum is more hamlet than village, situated at the end of a narrow lane off the A356 above the confluence of the Rivers Frome and Hooke. The parish is an ancient one and was held by the Knights Hospitallers of St John of Jerusalem during the mediaeval period. There are numerous footpaths and bridleways in the surrounding area, and stunning walks to be had at nearby Eggardon Hill, Kingcombe Meadows and around the wider Toller and Frome valleys. When taking a break at The Neap you are ideally situated for exploring the numerous quaint and picturesque villages in the area including Toller Porcorum, Hooke, Maiden Newton, Cattistock and Powerstock, with the towns of Dorchester, Beaminster and Bridport within easy reach.
For coastal walks and seaside trips, the Jurassic Coast is just a short drive or a cycle away, with Abbotsbury, West Bexington, Burton Bradstock and West Bay all under 15 miles away. Whether you are looking for a quiet break away from it all, or to enjoy days out filled with activities and adventures, The Neap is a special holiday home that ticks every box.
