Once belonging to the Queen and guarded by the nearby fort, The View Old Coastguard Cottage has plenty of history within its walls. Looking out onto the sea, this charming property has been transformed into a welcoming holiday home. With five bedrooms and two bathrooms the property sleeps up to 10 guests, so you can gather your loved ones together and enjoy a stay in Tynemouth to remember.
A vibrant and stunning property, sat astride the historic Spanish Battery on Tynemouth, boasting 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms that can comfortably accommodate 10 guests in fine living and easy living for a wonderful getaway on the Northumberland coast. Two trundle beds are also available upon request, increasing the occupancy to 12.
At the beating heart of this property is the combined kitchen and dining room. Dominating the kitchen is the centre island, with fine, white worktops spreading out across it and the surrounding kitchen. The island also houses the electric hob on top of it and the extractor fan above. Circling the island are the other worksurfaces, as well as the drawers and cupboards that house all the cutlery and dinnerware you will need. The kitchen also offers two electric ovens, fridge and freezer, toaster and kettle. Across from the Kitchen is the dining room, which has space and chairs to seat six people comfortably for comfort dining as you admire the decorations across the walls.
Through from the kitchen is a games room for the perfect night-in. Fitted with a pool table, two sofas, TV, fridge and mini-bar. This room is the ideal place for a high-octane Friday night. For those more quiet hours of relaxing however there is also a living room, luxuriously decorated, with a wood-burning fireplace and flatscreen TV, all of which you can relax and take in while reclined in one of the two sofas or the plush leather armchair.

A really great stay! Graeme was very helpful and the property was as described and suited our group wonderfully! The location is fantastic so close to the town with gorgeous views! Would recommend
Absolutely loved our stay here. The host is so helpful and welcoming, we instantly felt at home. Great house in a spectacular location, perfect for making unforgettable family memories. Thank you
We absolutely loved the position of this property and it was ideal for six adults and three children. And the dogs. However we wished the owner loved the house as much as we loved it's position... fixing the little niggly things -like the missing connectors on the blind pulleys, the peeling wall paper, the shower that won't turn off, the gaps in the kitchen floor, the lock on the main bathroom which is just a screw head, the grim back alley where the minuscule bbq is located - would so improve the overall impression. Graeme said he was no diy man but these are teeny tiny things not major renovations. Many people have said the property is tired and we would agree with that.

About the host
Hosted by Graeme Kennedy
I have spent most my life in Tynemouth having gone to kings private school from the age of 3 and my parents bought this house in 87. I love walking along the coast most days and having a coffee in cullercoats, also the vibrant front St with many coffee shops/ curio shops/ bars and restaurants is only a 5 minute walk up the road.
Why they chose this property
The views are second to none and this is a very affluent area with lots of friendly people do are keen to advise tourists on the best venues. It’s a beautiful coastal walk that I do most days and have a coffee in cullercoats. It has great metro links into Newcastle just a 10 minute walk up the road and there’s a very interesting market every weekend in the metro station with over 100 stalls selling everything from records to food. The sea life centre and 3 beautiful beaches are all within one mile of the house.
What makes this property unique
It was the first coastguard station in Britain and was owned by monarchy until my parents purchased it in 1987
