Not as described — we could not stayWe checked in but were unable to stay.Photographed at the right angle, it passes for a charming, small, simple apartment. What we found was far below that. The apartment smelled stale and shut-up. Within minutes my husband was struggling to breathe. That is why we left: not for lack of comfort, but because the place was not habitable for us. The keys are not at the apartment. You collect them from a laundromat a 12-minute walk away — a detail disclosed nowhere in the listing. One of us had to stand on a busy street with the suitcases while the other walked there and back. You reach the flat through the building’s refuse area and down a narrow corridor lined with bottles, past the open door of a shop. None of this appears in the photographs. There are two windows. One is sealed, the other opens directly onto a bus stop and the shop’s outdoor display — close enough to touch the merchandise and the people waiting for the bus. It cannot be opened for noise, nor for safety. The flat therefore has no ventilation whatsoever. Everything is worn and shabby: tired furniture, dilapidated fittings, nothing maintained. Only one of three ceiling lights worked. There were no instructions at all, no Wi-Fi details; when we texted, using an iPhone, the host sent the name of one network, then a second in case the first didn't work. Note: when we booked, this listing was titled “Elegant 1BR Near Luxembourg Gardens”; it now appears as “Odéon".
