About this property

Filspholly

Filspholly is a charming Grade II listed 2-bedroom cottage, sleeping up to 4 guests, situated in the village of Diptford in South Devon. Perched on a hill overlooking the River Avon and nestled within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Diptford is steeped in history and rural charm. The village takes its name not from the Dipper bird often seen along the river, but from the ‘deep ford’ that once crossed the Avon at Diptford Manor. Today, the village’s focal point is the stunning St Mary the Virgin’s Church, dating back to 1226, directly opposite your front door.

Inside, the living room is perfect for unwinding from a long day exploring. The dining room, with its heightened ceiling and large farmhouse table, is the heart of the home. From here, you step into the bright, modern kitchen, fitted with everything you need for home cooking. The side extension provides a generous entrance hallway and a useful downstairs cloakroom. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms featuring a king-sized bed and a twin room.

Outside, the private garden offers a peaceful retreat, complete with outdoor furniture and a barbecue—ideal for alfresco dining.

Filspholly allows up to two 2 well-behaved dogs during your stay.

Whether you’re seeking a romantic escape, a walking holiday, or a family break, Filspholly offers a perfect blend of history, comfort, and village life—right in the heart of one of South Devon’s prettiest settings.

A wonderful cottage in a beautiful part of the South Hams. Sleepy village, lovely and quiet, but within easy reach of lots of entertainment options for young and old alike. Property was clean and tidy. Lovely and cool during the boiling hot weather. Kitchen well stocked. Perfect for young family and a dog. Would love to come back! Highly recommended.

A delightful hidden hideaway...!

Its a beautiful location with a secure garden for our dog. Enough room for the four of us (even though two of us are over 6 feet tall) and just perfect all round...!
