About this property

Casa dos Cubos Douro River House with swimming pool and river views

Beautiful river house set over 3 floors in a peaceful setting with stunning views of the river Douro. The villa was designed by the daughter of the famous British designer David Mellor with each detail carefully chosen. It has an airy modern yet luxury feel with large bright windows, natural wood floors and spacious bedrooms with large comfortable beds and pristine linen.

The basement has a swimming pool which opens up into the garden in the summer and is covered in winter. The top floor has views of the Douro river and a large wooden table perfect family dinners or cooked for you by our private chef and a fully equipped kitchen.

You can walk into Porto along the stunning river walk or Uber into the center in just 10-15 minutes. Supermarkets are nearby with everything you need and it's 3 minutes to the highway in case you want to explore the Douro Valley or other cities. We offer trips to the Douro for wine tasting, river trips on a Luxury boat and a private chef at the house.

Trips and experiences
We offer private dinners with our international chef, trips to the Vinho Verde and Douro Regions for tours and wine tastings, private river cruise on a luxury motor boat. Please enquire.

Important notes:
There is a city/tourist tax to pay at checkin of €2.50 per adult per night.
The pool is heated upon request at €50 per day (max €150) all year to support our eco energy footprint.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
Leave the 2 sets of keys on the table and send a photo
Hang the towels to dry. Put clean unused bed cushions and covers to the side so we don't wash them
Clean the bbq. Put furniture back and outdoor cushions
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Dont park in front of the garage . Only use the beige pool towels in the pool. Clean the bbq after use
Don’t talk or shout in the outside areas on the street and garden especially after 22.00 (there are local noise laws).
Do not to sit on the garden chairs after 22.00. Only on around the table next to Pool

We had the most amazing time in Casa Dos Cubos River House. The accommodation was perfect for a Hen Party of 10. It was very spacious, clean, there were plenty of Bathrooms, the pool and garden area was amazing, it had all the amenities we needed, and the location was great (5 mins walk to Pingo supermarket and 10 mins taxi into Porto town. The views from the upper floor were immense. The whole place definitely contributed to how amazing the weekend turned out to be! Clare was an amazing host, who was always available to answer questions on whatsapp when we needed anything, she gifted us with 2 bottles of wine on arrival and even let us check out later on the Sunday. Thank you for helping make the weekend so special, I would come again and plan to in the future! Thanks Clare x

We loved the property and found Clare the host to be very responsive and helpful. There is a beautiful view from the main living area on the top floor of the Douro River with a large dining table and comfortable seating for our group of 6 adults. The kitchen was well stocked, several of the bedrooms had nice balconies, and we BBQ'd several times in the backyard. Clare even provided a new BBQ for us to use! There is a grocery store within a 5 minute walk but not a lot of other things in the immediate area we walked to. However, it was very easy to obtain Uber or Bolt rides to the Gaia waterfront or to Porto at minimal cost when we did not want to drive ourselves. Overall, we would definitely recommend the property and enjoyed our week there.

Beautiful, house and attentive host. Great for a bigger group, lovely views over the river and great outdoor and indoor space. We also took advantage of the offer of a private chef which was excellent, we all enjoyed the stay (6 people) and would highly recommend.

Clare made sure we had everything we needed for our stay and was highly communicative from beginning to end. The home is clean, extremely nice, and very comfortable. We stayed as two couples, but the house would also be perfect for larger groups, as it has four bedrooms and plenty of space to spread out. The kitchen is well appointed, making it easy to prepare meals when you want to stay in.The layout is excellent, with decks seemingly everywhere throughout the three-storey home. The main living area is on the top floor, the bedrooms are on the second floor, and the pool and entertaining area are on the bottom floor, where you can walk straight out into the backyard. There is free and easy parking right in front of the house which is convenient.We had a wonderful stay in Porto and would happily recommend this home.Tip: if its not on your list I highly recommend Palacio do Bolsa. If tickets aren't available online, go to the ticket office and try to book a tour for the next day. It is one of the most spectacular places in all of Portugal.
