About this property
Canal Central
Canal Central offers a peaceful first-floor retreat in a quiet canalside
location on the Shropshire/Mid Wales border, with views across the small, but perfectly formed, historic Montgomery Canal to the Welsh hills beyond.
Just two miles from the market town of Oswestry and within half an hour's drive of many popular attractions, this is an ideal base for relaxation and exploration alike.
Above the owners' tearoom (opening hours: 10-4pm Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and accessed via open-tread steps, a thoughtfully arranged open-plan layout offers a bright living and dining area; alongside a well equipped kitchen. Patio doors lead to a private balcony, giving the option of outdoor dining, whilst taking full advantage of the tranquil canal views.
The property offers two comfortable bedrooms, one with a king size double, the other twin bedded, along with a spacious shower room (toilet and basin) and a further separate toilet, for added convenience. Bed linen, towels and WI-FI are all included for a comfortable, stress-free stay.
Situated on an eight acre site (shared with Canal Central's discreet owners) guests can enjoy the canalside grounds, private parking for two cars is provided. Motorbike enthusiasts are particularly well catered for, with dedicated motorbike parking available. The hedged boundary has gates for easy access to the canal. Canoe hire is available, allowing for visits to the nearby pubs, by foot or water.
Canal Central is perfectly placed for discovering Shropshire; the Welsh Marches, Snowdonia and the coast. Nearby highlights include, the walled city of Chester, historic Shrewsbury and Llangollen, with its steam railway, horse drawn narrow boat trips and white water adventures.
Four National Trust properties: Powys and Chirk castles, Attingham Park and Erdigg, are all within half a hour's drive.
