Our house is called Solas, which in Gaelic means solace, comfort. It is a fantastic 2 bedroom house constructed at the end of 2009, situated beside the shore in the village of Glenelg. Glass screens downstairs with atrium above are a feature of the house and allow wonderful views across the Sound of Sleat and to the Isle of Skye. Ground floor is open plan with living area to one side of the central staircase and dining/kitchen to the other. The luxury bespoke kitchen includes a 5 ring combination gas/electric Lacanche cooker, American fridge freezer with ice/water facilities and dishwasher. There is a separate utility/boot room to the back of the house with washing machine and tumble dryer. The sitting room has a Jotul stove, TV/Freeview/ DVD player and has a good selection of books, local maps and DVDs. Free Wifi. The nearby Glenelg Inn offers lunches and dinners with a great menu in both its atmospheric bar and separate dining room; try the Shore Cafe at the Glenelg Ferry station for a selection of delicious homemade cakes and savoury snacks. A lovely house in a lovely location. Everything was catered for. Clean beds and floors etc.The only downside is that whoever cleans the property should take a little more time to be more particular to the rest of the house
Great location, not the first time visiting the area, so had good knowledge of local amenities etc. property ideally located for our purposes with a fantastic outlook across to Kylerhea. Property well appointed and spotless throughout.
Beautiful house in such a picturesque location! Slept really well. Well catered for too. Just the kind of place to take your supplies & hunker down in. Rooms we're warm & cosy when the weather wasn't brilliant. The host was excellent and very helpful when we left something behind after our stay, they couldn'tof done enough. Property is exactly as described. Nearby cosy, friendly pub, a cafe in the Community centre, and a village shop. Ample parking for large car. Stunning views across the Sound of Sleet towards Skye. Right across the road from a shingle beach. Really enjoyed our stay, would definitely recommend
2nd stay at this amazing accommodation. Great facilities, fantastic value for money.Location is fantastic for wildlife and getting away from everything but still close enough to get to the more tourist based places. We will definitely book again!
This is a stunning location and the house is very well equipped. Glenelg is somewhat isolated but that is its charm. One local shop with limited opening times and limited stock .The nearest supermarket is 25 miles away. Handy for the Glenelg to Skye ferry. (Summer only).Recommend.
We had a lovely time in this Beautifully located house, with an amazing view of the Skye Island. The house it self was well equipped, spacious and clean. We really enjoyed our time there and would definitely recommend!
What a nice place to stay! The water is on the other side of the road and you can walk alongside the water and enjoy the view. The house is great with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and a very spacious kitchen.
Once again we loved staying in the house. So much space, very comfortable, everything you need and stunning views, what ever the weather. We feel so at home here and always have such a relaxing holiday. Can't wait to stay again.
We came here for a shirt honeymoon and loved it, we have always loved Glenelg and this house is the perfect place to experience it - lovely large windows for watching the water (even better on a stormy day) and cosy interior with log burner for eveningKitchen facilities perfect, wouldn't change anything!
2nd time at this property and we hope to go back. Location and facilities are perfect for us. We didn’t leave the peninsula and there is so much to do there.
The cottage location is perfect it’s well equipped and homely. Would prefer more comfortable seating in the lounge area and more attention to cleaning especially cobwebs above stairs and bathroom window. We saw minke whale, seals and white tailed eagle from the cottage!Would not hesitate to stay again.
We loved our weeks stay in this lovely house in the most beautiful remote setting. The food at the local Inn was wonderful and changed daily. We would go back again tomorrow

Why they chose this property
As a family, we fell in love with this house while holidaying in Glenelg. We bought it in 2012 and have been renting it out since 2013. In the summer, we recommend sitting on the beach and read a book, canoeing in Plockton, going to the cinema in Portree; during autumn and winter, you can spend most of the day near the fire watching the world go by. Enjoy the open plan kitchen/dining room/living room, which brings everyone together and is great for entertaining!
