- This is a prime oceanfront location on The Strand. You’ll see and hear the beach world: walkers, cyclists, weekend energy, and the ocean
- The home is best enjoyed with windows/doors open for sea breeze, which can also mean you may hear normal Strand activity, especially on weekends and in summer
- No parties/events. Quiet hours are strictly respected. Hosts live literally next door :)

The Glass House / Manhattan Beach

This property is amazing! Everything about our stay was perfect.from the checkin process to leaving on the last day. JR, our owner and property manager was helpful and responsive. We enjoyed bike riding, daily walks and beach volleyball. In addition, the property is in close proximity to great dining and shopping too. We would definitely stay here again!

The views and proximity to eateries, coffee shops and shopping was better than described; didn't drive once after we pulled in. The property was clean and well furnished. The beds were very comfortable and kitchen well stocked. Space perfect for six adults. JR and Susan were perfect hosts. Will definitely return.

Lovely Home, Perfect Location

Such a lovely beach house! Bikes, beach toys, beach towels, etc. Right on The Strand~walk out the door and onto the sand., amazing sunsets. A quick walk to all the shops and restaurants that Manhattan Beach has to offer. Bike down the Strand for blocks or for miles. Short drive from airport, easy access to Santa Monica, Hollywood, Beverly Hills. Everything we needed for a sweet week!

My children and I always do a beach week each summer on the east coast, we live on the outskirts of Washington, DC. This year no beach houses to be found at our local beaches. My close friend has always said great things about MB. I found JR and Susan thru VRBO and from the start I had a good feeling. They were gracious hosts and very accommodating. The home is a hidden gem!! Everything that i was told about MB is true. The home is a true luxury beach house at the epicenter of MB. Plenty of bikes, paddle boards and surf boards. Great kitchen great views! High recommend, we shall return!!

Manhattan beach family vacation

My family and I traveled to Manhattan Beach and stayed at The Glass House for a week of bliss by the ocean. JR and his family are absolutely wonderful. They were so welcoming and kind. Just fantastic hosts! The Glass House is stunning. Just like the pictures. Directly on the beach with incredible views of the sand, ocean and surfers! It was a joy waking up and watching all the action from the terrace each morning. The house is situated within a 5 minute walk from all the best shops and restaurants in Manhattan Beach. So much to do and see. What a special place. The house was stocked with everything we needed. Lots of towels, shampoo/conditioner blow dryers, toiletries, food essentials etc. My kids loved playing in the upstairs loft with all the toys. Great added bonus room for them! There were bikes and surf boards to use which my father in law enjoyed daily. He also asked for a fishing rod and JR brought one for him the very next morning. Such a thoughtful gesture! We had the best time at the Glass House and can’t wait to visit again. Thank you JR & Family!

Unbelievably Wonderful!

The Glass House in Manhattan Beach goes down as one of our all-time favorite family vacation experiences. Property owners, JR and his wife Susan, are the most hospitable and friendly hosts you could ever encounter — beyond accommodating and a joy to work with … I could go on and on. Their property, which fronts the Pacific Ocean and an immaculate beach, is nothing short of stunning. Needless to say, it was comfortable, and provided the perfect perch for relaxing and unbeatable sunsets. The photos that you see here on Vrbo are 100% accurate, and even then they don’t quite do justice to the experience in person. I almost don’t want to disclose what a magical place Manhattan Beach is. I can’t help but feel I will see the locals/nearby residents in my memories years from now. The great thing is, I won’t have to conjure those acquaintances, as I expect to be back again very soon. I suppose I should also mention how conveniently located the Glass House is to all things Manhattan Beach and so many other Los Angeles area venues. We were always within walking distance of shops, restaurants, pubs and markets. If this sounds at all appealing or alluring to you, check it out. JR will do a much better job than I at selling you on the merits of this incomparable gem. Here’s hoping we get to return for many more unforgettable moments.

The House that Lifts Spirits !

I don’t take vacations so if this qualifies as one, that will take a miracle from God in order to top. This is due not in part, but completely for being able to stay in The Glass House. My French godson and his girlfriend traveled from France to be here and we know that our experiences were enriched because of where we chose to stay. The house has so much energy it was as if we were plugging into it! The bed linens smelled so good and were so soft, the kitchen was just simply cool. It’s where we hung out mostly. Our host J.R. made my guest feel welcomed as I arrived 3 days late driving from upstate New York. As mentioned earlier, I don’t take vacations and now I know that the hotels and all that comes with staying inside one is the reason. I would love to visit the glass house again and if I start taking vacations regularly, it’s location will be the reason. Thank you J.R. and family.

Perfect stay in Manhattan Beach

Manhattan Beach is one of the most perfect places on the planet. The house is an iconic design, right on the beach, you couldn't get any closer and waking up to see the ocean so close was beautifully calming. JR and his family were fantastic to deal with and on hand if ever we needed anything. Can't recommend enough.

Another Day in Paradise

If you are looking for Ocean and Beach get away then this is the place .You will not find a better location on the Strand .This unique property puts you in the heart of Manhattan Beach , close to amazing restaurants and literally right on the sand . I have stayed in many VRBO properties in Hermosa and Manhattan over the past 10 years and this one stands out as the most unique .

Wife's 70th birthday retreat.

Can't say enough about this lovely home on the beach. My wife and I enjoyed a very relaxing week celebrating her 70th birthday. We were not the only admirers, many people walking the "Strand" would stop to admire. Sadly, we had to inform them that we were only renting. This place is truly unique! JR and his wife ( the owners) could not have been more helpful. We plan to return next year.

One of those properties you don't want to tell people about because it'll only get harder to book, but wow.... This is a perfect house in a perfect location with a perfect host. We rode bikes, surfed, watched sunsets and walked to the amazing restaurants... and we can't wait to go back.

Fantastic vacation

We had a fantastic vacation at the the Glass House (a family of six). The house is excellent, the beach location incredible and the hosts fantastic. I’m not sure we could have asked for more. The house and location are as great as the images and the description portrays. We were not disappointed. The hosts were extremely helpful in answering our many questions around what to do, where to go (for food, surfing lessons, fishing equipment etc etc). The house has loads of stuff to keep the kids amused (loads of toys in the loft for the little one) and plenty of beach equipment (boards, toys, chairs, umbrella etc) and plenty of bikes. We would thoroughly recommend Manhattan beach as an area and the Glass House in particular. We will definitely be back.

We enjoyed 9 perfect days at this wonderful house. Jaw-dropping view, easy walking distance to everything Manhattan Beach has to offer. Bikes available to explore down to Hermosa and Redondo beaches. JR and Susan are the consummate beach hosts..laid back, friendly, warm. We will be back!

Our family has lived in Manhattan Beach for multiple generations and love this little beach community. This is a special place and we love sharing our hometown with visitors. We are a family with 2 daughters, and we live literally next door to this listing.

The location can't be beat. It checks all the boxes:

- south of pier (most desirable section of Manhattan Beach)

What makes this property unique

We travel a lot and have stayed at a lot of VRBO rentals. We we like to think we've set our house up to be a really special experience. We want our guests to have a true Manhattan Beach experience like:
- a surf or paddle in the morning
- watch the kids boogie boarding and playing in the sand
- bike rides to Hermosa or Redondo
- walk to the aquarium and touch tanks at the end of the pier
- stroll into town for dinner or drinks
- sit on patio and do nothing but watch the sunset
- nap
