Hale Kai in Hawaiian means “ocean house” as there are spectacular views of the coastline and a white sand beach from every room. This home sleeps four with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and laundry facilities. It has a spacious kitchen and dining area and comes with cable T.V., DVD, stereo, and a fully equipped kitchen. King and 2 twin beds. Air conditioning for bedrooms and living room!

Our 30th anniversary trip

Beautiful house and beach. Access is central to all the good stuff Kaua’i has to offer. By far our best trip to the islands because the house and private beach are so amazing.

Hale Kai is situated just a few steps from Baby Beach. We could not have asked for a better location. The house is comfortably furnished but we ended up spending all our time relaxing on the Lanai, listening to the sound of the ocean and watching the waves roll in. We were in Paradise! We highly recommend Hale Kai and hope to go there again soon. N.MacDougall

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The home was as picturesque as advertised. Homely, serene and beautiful. What wasn't mentioned in any detail is that one cannot go swimming or even wading as this particular beach. Rocks that appeared ankle deep kept one out of the water. Communication with property management could be improved.

Great home

We loved everything about this home and will definitely be back! Sunsets are a perfect 10!!!! Only thing I would suggest is the beach out front is very rocky so I’d bring water shoes. We ended up running to Walmart (20 min away) and bought some for $10! Mornings were peaceful and quiet. We can’t wait to come back and stay here again!

Baby Beach was named as such by locals long ago as it is a shallow area protected by an outer reef and yes there are rocks on the bottom surface once you get out into the water a bit. Perfect for babies and one of the safest beaches on island. It is not meant to be a swimming beach like Poipu Beach, Sheraton Beach or Lawai Bay which are all less than a few minutes away by car. Hale Kai property at Poipu Beach

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The home was just as described. Located on a very private beach with outstanding ocean views. The house itself was well appointed and had been updated. We did have issues with the refrigerator and smoke alarms but the management team were quick to respond and fix. My only suggestion would be to have a few more beach items available to the guests.

Perfect

If you want to sleep to sounds of the ocean outside your bedroom; Have morning coffee on the lanai overlooking the private beach and ocean; take 12 steps from the porch to the sand to relax, swim or check out the amazing sea turtles that rest right on shore; or walk to great restaurants, shopping, groceries and cafes, then this is the house for you. Impossible location to beat. The house is well appointed with everything you need to have a relaxing and homie week in Kaui. And to top it off, the hosts great and very responsive... very attentive to some small needs that arose or any requests we asked of them. Would book again without hesitation. Highly recommend.

Cozy cottage

This was such a peaceful bungalow with the ocean as your front yard. Everything was wonderful, we would definitely come back to this place again. There is A/C in each bedroom and in the main room but we only used the one in the bedroom and enjoyed the breezes coming off the ocean. We saw a giant green sea turtle come up on the beach right in front of the house one day but I would not say this is a great spot to snorkel out front but is still a great beach and a perfect area for little babes to play in the water. Here is a strange, albeit important point for those of you who the bugs love - every time we go anywhere, I am covered in bug bites while my husband is completely unscathed but not the case here! I didn’t have to use bug spray one time, there was just enough breeze to keep them at bay. Made my week! Mahalo for an amazing stay.

Outstanding!

We returned from our family vacation 2 weeks ago and have been missing this OUTSTANDING home every day since. It is the perfect location for traveling between excursions, beaches, restaurants and everything else you may want to appreciate on the island. The home is next to Baby Beach and was somewhat busy on the weekend, but the week days were wonderful. Although this isn’t a “swimming” beach, it was great for snorkeling, floating, young children to play, and relaxing by the ocean. The views are amazing....just amazing! As for the home, it was perfect for us and our 2 children. The kitchen was stocked with all the cooking items you would need and the home had fans, extra bedding, and beach towels. Loved how clean the home was, too! It is within walking distance from some cute shops, restaurants, coffee shop, and a market. Ate some breakfasts and dinners on the lanai and just can’t stop thinking of the view! Hope to make it back to Hale Kai again...Just Outstanding!

Beautiful Spot!

The location of this house is superb; we spent every morning on the lanai with our coffee, enjoying the sight and sounds of the waves. Baby Beach is not a great swimming beach for adults (very shallow, mostly rocky bottom) but it's great for kids and there's a long sandy strip to set up chairs. The beach is popular with locals and tourists, so be aware that you'll frequently see folks cutting across the lawn and on the beach in front of you. The sun on the lanai gets ferocious at about 3-4 pm, but there is a sun shade to cut down on some of the heat. The house is easy walking distance to a shopping center with some great take-out spots (Savage Shrimp!) and also some great restaurants (Beach House!), and we enjoyed getting food and bringing it back to the house for a fabulous dinner on the lanai. The house is well stocked with beach supplies (chairs, towels, snorkeling gear, boogie board, and even reef shoes) and kitchen supplies (real coffee maker, ice machine, all the cooking utensils & pots you might need), the beds are comfy, and the water pressure is good. Don't hesitate to book this place. It's great.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Hale Kai was a fantastic house in a beautiful location. The house is exactly as shown on the website, and is perfect for 2 couples or a small family. The beach is right outside the house and is pretty quiet, a lot of locals come to hang out in the afternoons and weekends. More suited to small kids, the water is not really deep enough for swimming, but is great for just a quick dip to cool off and float around a bit. And we had turtles and a seal come and lay around on the beach too. Very cool! It is close to everything on the south shore. Walking distance (2 miles) to Poipu beach and closer to the Sheraton and Marriott beaches and restaurants. The property was clean, and Jenny was on it right away when the barbecue wasn't working. We loved everything about Hale Kai and the area. We would have booked another trip except it's completely booked! Yes we would recommend Hale Kai to anyone!

Close to a perfect stay

The view from every room in the house is spectacular. The proximity to the water/beach is unbelievable. The long lanai is perfect for hanging out, with plenty of outdoor furniture (table, chairs, chaise lounges), and beach gear. The kitchen and bathrooms are well-stocked. We rather enjoyed the resident chickens with their wake up calls. There are only two things that marred an otherwise perfect stay: 1) the house has only 4 beach towels and the management indicated that it is the limit after we asked for more. So, if you have a beach day, go to dinner and have a boat/scuba type tour where you need towels early next morning, it is a little stressful to have to remember to squeeze in laundry (on vacation, and they have a no washer/dryer policy after 10PM). 2) I got eaten alive our last night of our stay during the night- approximately 20+ bites, and by the pattern of the bites, it seemed to be bedbugs. I told the management and they responded with concern, indicating that they would have maintenance check it out. We had two sightings of waterbugs/roaches but I know that it isn't all that unusual so close to the water. Prior to and at the time of check-in, I inquired about a mid-stay cleaning service that I could pay for, but the management never got back to me.

It's great to know that the resident chickens added a unique charm to your stay. We sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered during your visit. We understand the inconvenience caused by the limited number of beach towels. Based on your feedback, we are reassessing our policy to better accommodate our guests' needs, especially for those who have active schedules with multiple water-related activities. Regarding the bites you experienced, we take such matters very seriously. Over the years mosquitoes have been the number one culprit to this problem reported by our guests and not bed bugs. We sent in a professional extermination subcontractor after your feedback to verify if bedbugs were present in the home and they were not. Our team has taken all proactive measures we can in having bed bug protectors on every mattress and always checking for signs of bed bugs between each linen change. Hawaii is a very tropical environment and over the years we have learned to proactively use pest control solutions to help mitigate the impact to our guests. It seems no matter what proactive measures are taken, bugs/insects find their way into or around our properties in the Poipu area near the Ocean. We apologize again for the bites you experienced and for future guests we advise you to always have your mosquito/bug spray handy when outdoors, especially during the evening or night. We apologize for the oversight regarding the mid-stay cleaning service and not responding back to you. This is not reflective of our usual standards of communication and service. We are reviewing our processes to ensure better responsiveness in the future on mid stay cleanings. We advise guests to give us as much notice as possible in order to coordinate with our cleaning subcontractors and usually do not offer this service unless a guest is staying 14 nights or longer on property. Beautiful Private Location

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location of Hale Kai is unbeatable: a quiet stretch of a little beach with mostly gentle surf and awesome sunset views. The bedrooms were large and comfortable each with a bathroom and access to a large lanai. The kitchen was fully equipped with new appliances and all the dishes and cutlery you will ever need. Large Washer and Dryer appear new and can handle full loads (plenty of detergent was provided) if you need it. It's also right down the road from a nice shopping center with restaurants, shops and a Longs Drug store. We loved staying here! It was the 3rd time we stayed at Baby Beach (Hale Ohe and Stonehouse previously). GIR staff were great - checking in often to make sure everything was going well and to see if we needed anything. Was it slick and fancy? Not really. Was it comfortable with a solid Hawaiian vibe? Yes!
