Come and see why Southern Bell beckons. We are located on the second floor of the 1940’s original telephone office building right on the historic waterfront of St. Mary’s. Newly renovated in the Low-Country style this property offers incredible views of the waterfront. Walk to local restaurants, museums and parks. The ferry to Cumberland Island boards within yards of the front of the property. Cumberland Island is the premier wild beach experience with 15 miles of undeveloped beach to explore. Wild horses and historic ruins add to the adventure. Perfect get-away for the author, artist, or to relieve the workday stress.

Very cute place with all amenities you could want! The entire place feels brand new and the two bedrooms were very nice to have. And, the location is perfect for taking the ferry and grabbing a bite to eat at the local restaurants. I highly recommend staying here (it is perfect for four adults/children)!

Quaint river view home

This is the 4th home we have rented in St Mary ‘s and each very nice and would probably rent again but this home was more cozy, quaint, well decorated and the view from the porch was the best of the homes we have rented.

Southern Bell Stay

Great place, convenient walking distance to all the downtown St. Mary's spots including the Cumberland Island Ferry. Highly recommend this place if you are interested in a fun stay in St. Mary's GA.

Why they chose this property

The Telephone Office Building, built in 1947. It was an important fixture on the downtown waterfront until 1951. We have paid tribute to that legacy with a couple of vintage phones and other memorabilia from our collection on site in the apartment. Our dream is to open a small telephone exhibit of the phones used in this area between the late 1850's up to the 1950's.

What makes this property unique

Location, location, location! Any closer to the water and you would be wet! Great views of the water and boats. You can watch the sunrise and sunset from the porch or the inside of the apartment.
