Our tranquil 1927 beach house was the first hunting lodge to overlook Solstice Canyon, known then & now for its spectacular beauty & wildlife. Savor this heavenly slice of historic Malibu among the hummingbirds, hiking trails, eucalyptus & ocean mist. Shower under the stars. 5 min to beach, 7 min to Pepperdine, 10 min to shops & restaurants in central Malibu. Quiet comfort within striking distance of all that LA has to offer. Solar + battery+ EV CHARGER. Fiber Optic WiFi, Apple TV+.

Upstairs is the entry, living room, kitchen, dining, bathroom, outdoor shower, patio with grill, and outdoor dining table. Downstairs is the primary bedroom with a king bed, plenty of drawers and closet space, and a study/work area.

It felt like staying at a family’s place, but ofc you get the whole place to yourself. Me and my partner had a really great time enjoying the fresh air, nice and cozy open backyard- and all the convenient amenities. It is such a nice getaway to add life to your days. Highly recommend!

Peaceful oasis

A quick getaway weekend close to beaches and hiking, the house was easy to find, clean, beautiful; our host was responsive and helpful. The outdoor shower was the best feature with blooming honeysuckle; the fig tree a delight to sit under with morning coffee.

Beautiful, quiet cabin with a wonderful kitchen, super comfortable bed, and wonderful yard. The place was thoughtfully appointed and Whitney leaves a handy binder full of tips and local info. Can't say enough nice things about this place, thanks for a wonderful stay!

My friend and I stayed here while visiting our daughters at Pepperdine. It's minutes from campus and PCH, yet feels like your miles away in your own little secluded mountain home. Loved the outdoor shower. Beautifully appointed and the owner was very accommodating to our needs!

A dreamy house up above it all

This is a perfect little house. It's perched on top of Malibu up in the hills. It is so well designed and impressively stocked for a rental house. It has everything you need for an amazing getaway. The gardens are gorgeous and the outdoor shower is perfection. You will never want to shower inside again. I just can't say enough good things about this sweet house. And to top it off Whitney was an incredible host. So kind, communicative and accommodating. We had an incredible week and felt so at ease in the house. We will be back many times. P.S. if you rent it please take good care of it. It's in perfect condition and selfishly I'd like it to stay that way. :)

First I like to thank Whitney for our wonderful stay. The perfect host as she answered all my questions to make the stay even more enjoyable. The only thing I did not like was that there was no microwave, which I found strange, but it was not a deal breaker.. Would definitely come back..The outdoor shower was the best. Thank you!.

So comfortable and well-equipped!

This house is very comfortable, well supplied, well organized, and immaculately clean, and the owner is amazingly responsive and helpful. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking and entertaining -- with high-quality dishes and pots and pans. The availability of miscellaneous cooking supplies is a welcome surprise. The only issue for us was the fact that the bedroom and bathroom are on separate floors, which we survived but not without some consternation for my 77-year-old husband. Nevertheless we would definitely consider staying again.

Quiet Getaway

The property is as it appears online. Great kitchen, great yard, and amenities. If you want total quiet and serenity this is the place. The only issue we had was the drive up to the house after sundown-- can be treacherous if there is fog. The canyon winds around a lot, have the manager change timer on outside lights for the full time you are staying if you intend to be out past 6 pm. The bed was not comfortable. But there is so much good that it was easy to overlook. Would recommend the manager keep a eggshell topper in linen closet for those that need it. So close to Pepperdine it worked for our visit. Beautiful surroundings.

Great time

The place was amazing, no complaints whatsoever. The only thing to know about the stay is that the drive up the side of the hill is a little daunting to newbies. Once you drive it a few times, it doesn't seem so overwhelming, but the first time (especially at night) isn't ideal. Another thing to know about house, is if security is very important to you, I don't suggest staying. The main bedroom is on the street level, and the only thing between you and an intruder is a glass sliding door. Outside of those 2 things, it was very pleasant.

Why they chose this property

Whenever I imagined my dream house, it was a little historic cabin or cottage from the 1920s or 1930s, like the one my parents lived in when I was born, in my hometown of Malibu, California. When this little jewel in the rough appeared, we knew it was our chance, and we spent the next 2 years fixing, restoring, uncovering, and polishing this gem of a house. It's serene, awe inspiring, cozy, and convenient here. At the end of a sweet neighborhood, set in a California state park, minutes from the beach and downtown Malibu.

Nearby Santa Monica, Brentwood, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Downtown Los Angeles, Calabasas, Agoura, Westlake, Thousand Oaks, and Woodland Hills.
