The Marathon Historic apartment was a perfect base for our time in Seward and the Kenai Fjords. The apartment is very comfortable and homey, clean, well-equipped, quiet, and the location is excellent for walking to the waterfront, restaurants, shops, and the Alaska Sealife Center. Shelly provided clear instructions for check-in and many great recommendations for restaurants and attractions. My husband and I enjoyed our stay and hope to return some day!

This property was just as advertised. Quiet, quaint, and excellent shopping near by. If I go back to Seward I will re-book here for sure. I really enjoyed my stay.
The location was perfect and walkable to absolutely everything. The bed was very comfortable and the location quiet and restful. All the necessities were provided in this adorable bungalow. Communication was excellent.
My husband and I rented this apartment for three nights and it was perfect. Very clean, close to restaurants, shopping and the free shuttle service. Would stay here again!

Best wishes!
My husband and I were visiting Seward from Anchorage for an impromptu fishing trip, and were lucky enough to find this listing! Adorable apartment, easy to locate, close to everything, and the bed was SO comfy. As someone with back issues I really appreciated that. Shelly was very responsive and helpful, and even let me know we could check in early. I would absolutely recommend staying here anytime you visit Seward!

This small but lovely and we’ll-stocked apartment was perfect for our 3 night stay. The manager, Shelly, did a great job of communicating and even sent a long list of things to do and good places to eat. We especially liked that it was walking distance to many attractions and only 2 blocks from a free shuttle stop to take us to many others.
My husband and I enjoyed our short stay. Unit is small but comfortable with a very cute decor. Location is great- within easy walking distance to many restaurants and shops. We took a 6 hr scenic boat ride (highly recommend) and the harbor is about a mile away. We would definitely recommend renting this property.

Perfect location right in downtown. Excellent communication. Clean.
The unit is cute, comfortable, and convenient! Shelly and Matt have done a great job of decorating and making sure guests have everything they need from towels and kitchenware to lots of drawers, hooks, and other spaces to put your things. The location is perfect, within walking distance to shops and restaurants, and a short drive to the harbor if you take a boat tour of the Kenai Fjords. The host provided a list of local restaurants, and we had the best meal of our trip so far at The Cookery, thanks to her list. 10/10 would recommend this place!
Cute and cozy, the kitchen is decorated Retro. It has everything you need. Walking distance to Main Street. I enjoyed the history of the building and appreciate appreciate that it is continuing to serve the people.
This little apartment is exactly what I wanted for a night in Seward. It is located conveniently right in the middle of downtown only a few blocks away from the waterfront, the SeaLife Center, and the restaurants of downtown.
The host was extremely communicative and a pleasure to deal with. If you are interested in a cozy spot to return to after a day out and about I would highly recommend staying here.
We LOVED our stay at Marathon by the Sea - the bed was so extremely comfortable and cozy. Great location- we walked a block to the courthouse to get married!
Well stocked with kitchen gadgets and serve ware, as well as extra blankets and towels.
Host was so very kind and promptly responded whenever we reached out.
We most definitely recommend!
It was just what we needed. A comfy bed, hot shower and a way to make coffee. We enjoyed the cute decor and welcome note. Overall a great stay at a great location. There was some confusion in which apartment we were in but we just checked doors until our code worked.
Very cute place to stay. Amazing communication from the owners. Plenty of “may need” items available just in case. (Ziplock bags, foil, Q tips, hair dryer etc)It was on the warm side even with the heat off. Wish we had this kind of insulation at our house. Upstairs neighbors kept us up until 12:30am walking but not something that can be helped. Would definitely stay here again. It’s close to the water, shops, restaurants, Sealife center and bus stops.
Great option for a few days. The apartment is an easy walk to the water, the Sea Life Center, the brewery, and downtown restaurants. Internet speed is great for making travel/excursion arrangements and entertainment. Everything was clean and welcoming. We enjoyed the museum located in the library and were able to also see the movie about the 1964 earthquake--shown once a day for a separate fee. Highly recommend the movie.

We love the great Alaskan outdoors. Love to bike, hike, camp, fish, ski snowboard and raft Matt and I re both from the Midwest - MN and IA. We met in Denver and moved to Alaska in 2002. We absolutely love traveling and being hosts, mostly to share stories and adventures. When we get a chance to talk with our guests, it renews our love for our home and community. We are so blessed. We want to share this blessing with everyone.
Why they chose this property
it is one of the oldest buildings in Seward and we loved the history and the possibilities to bring it back to life. We have worked hard to provide a nice clean quaint and quiet place to stay. We have local residents in the building who you may run into out and about. Some are born and raised in Seward!!
What makes this property unique
So close to everything! this building was origianlly a boarding house for railroad workers and others in the early 1900's and survived the 1964 earthquake and tsunami. This property is very unique. It is one of Seward's oldest buildings build in either 1905 or 1906. It was a boarding house to the railroad workers in the early 1900's. It survived the 1964 earthquake tsunami. In 2017, we bought this run down virtually empty building and spent every weekend for 6 years coming down from Anchorage and renovating the entire place. Just my husband and I. We have finally moved to Seward and love this amazing community. We hope you love what we have done to restore history.
