About this property
Historical Church 3BR Hideaway
Built in 1867, this breathtaking little rock church in Lattnerville Iowa looks almost identical on the outside as it did over 150 years ago. Originally dedicated in honor of the Blessed Virgin as St Mary's Catholic Church, parishoners worshipped for 22 years throughout prosperous times, hardships, extensive remodeling, fires and closures. The last scheduled Mass for what eventually became the Annunciation Church was held in 1989 with only special occasion services held until 2012 when the sacred vessels were transported to St. John the Baptist Church in Peosta, Iowa. In 2013 the church was sold at auction and underwent a massive restoration eventually transpiring to the Lattnerville Church Inn.
The Fresh landscape and welcoming patio lead the visitor to doors that open to décor of country sensibility, treasured history, and modern conveniences. Three charming bedrooms with private baths are located on opposing balconies, all part of an overall open concept floor plan. The main floor living space features a state of the art kitchen with custom cabinetwork and décor, and ample seating in the kitchen, dining and entertaining areas. This casual and comfortable architectural wonder is the perfect host for the intimate family/friend reunion; a peaceful retreat for the history and nature lover, and the tranquil escape for the busy urbanite looking to slowdown and enjoy the wonders of local wineries, scenic bike trails, ski resorts, and historical venues. The Lattnerville Church Inn has the best of the mid-west all a short distance away.
Three bedrooms with private baths sleep six, with additional sleeping for two additional guests accommodating a total of eight.
Two ovens, two sinks, a generous kitchen island and custom cabinets make meal prep and cooking an experience itself. Wineries, local restaurants, and grocery are all a short 10-minute drive away.
A beautifully manicured lawn with flower beds and charming gates and fencing frame the walkways. A large patio and pergola will make morning coffee, a steak grilled on the outdoor grill, or friendly conversation even more enjoyable.

What a fabulous place! Very impressive on the way the space was laid out. Location was great, easy to get to Dubuque and Peosta, while being tucked away in the countryside. If we get back to this area, we would definitely stay here again!

Thank you for the kind words. It will be our pleasure to host your family again.
We loved accommodations in this refurbished church. The setting is just gorgeous. We were close to a bike/walking trail and a local winery. One of the best we have ever rented!

Thank you Jean. I hope you choose to stay with us again!
This is our second time staying at the Historical Church 3BR Hideaway; we were in town for a family reunion and this location provided the perfect respite from family activities! This location is the perfect spot for our family (spouse & I, our two adult sons and their girlfriends) - accommodations are spot on, including 3 bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms, large kitchen, plenty of seating in the lounge area, and close by to attractions, restaurants and venues. The Heritage Trail (converted rail-to-trail) is nearby and was convenient for morning walks while everyone else was still asleep. The historic building is beautifully maintained, nestled in a serene setting. It was actually enjoyable awaking to thunderstorms at night, just for the experience of laying in bed and watching the distant lightning as it illuminated the stained glass windows!Communication is excellent - prompt and thorough!I foresee this being an annual stay for our family.
I wish I could stay at this beautiful church all the days! Everything was spectacular! The beds were comfortable, the bedrooms are spacious, the bathrooms are roomy. And the decor is gorgeous!!! Its so well set up and layed out.
The outside patio area is large and surrounded by gorgeous flowers and trees. Looking out at the rolling hills and greenery was breathtaking! We roasted marshmallows over the firepit area.
Cathy was beyond pleasant and kind! What a doll. Dont look any further!!! Youve gotta stay here!!!!!

Thank you Dorian for the kind words. I hope that you stay with us again sometime. It was a pleasure hosting to you and your family.
Is this heaven? A converted 1890's church in Iowa - close to the Field of Dreams (a trifecta)!!!
The photos cannot compare to seeing this in person - absolutely stunning! This is in a sparsely-populated area (agriculture) so there's no neighborhood noise or light pollution. The space is impeccable for a family to relax and take in the surroundings! The local winery is within 15 min. drive as well as drinking/dining in neighboring communities (Epworth/Peosta/Farley/Dyersville). We saw some bicyclists trying out their climbing skills - there are plenty of undulating roads with some steep climbs (+7% grade) but the scenery is breathtaking - you can see for miles!!!
Communication with the host was excellent! The location was easy to get to and all our needs were met with this hidden gem! This will definitely be on our A-list for future stays!!!
