The Cabin at the End of the Road - Private nature escape with Hot Tub
Your Cabin This thoughtfully appointed cabin sits at the edge of the Ouachita River, surrounded by towering hardwoods and the sounds of moving water. Step through to your private hot tub room, where the warm glow of the lights sets a calming, spa-like mood. Upstairs, the deck feels like a perch in the forest canopy. Sip your morning coffee above the treetops, or stay out after dark to roast marshmallows under one of the darkest, most star-filled skies in Arkansas. On clear nights, the Milky Way stretches overhead and fireflies drift through the trees below. Keep your eyes open — Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, and even the occasional Roadrunner have been known to make an appearance.
Truly Unplugged No cell service on the property, but wifi is available from Starlink, which you can use for streaming, wifi calling, texting, social media, etc. This is a place to actually rest and enjoy nature, step away from your device if you can!
On the Water & On the Trails The Ouachita River is a short walk or drive down on the property. Canoe, kayak, or float a lazy tube downriver past towering rocky bluffs draped in wildflowers, shaded by centuries-old trees. The river is gentle and family-friendly — mostly Class I–II rapids between long, glassy pools — and exceptional for fishing. Smallmouth, largemouth, and spotted bass are abundant, along with bluegill, catfish, walleye, longear sunfish, and more. On-site activities include canoe and kayak rentals, swimming, fishing, or exploring the national forest adjacent to the property: trails into the National Forest begin just steps from your cabin door. Shuttle service is available for guests bringing their own kayak or canoe, for an additional fee. We encourage you to pre-book this service. Nearby, the Womble Trail, Ouachita Trail, and Lake Ouachita Vista Trail are regarded as some of the finest mountain biking and hiking routes in the region. More secluded forest trails like Fourche Mountain Trail are perfect for ATV exploration. Horseback riding, crystal mining, and biking opportunities are all within easy reach.
The Crystal Capital of the World You're in the heart of the Ouachita Mountains, home to the most extraordinary quartz crystal deposits on earth. Mount Ida — just a short drive away — is known worldwide as the Quartz Crystal Capital of the World. Whether you're a seasoned rock hound or a first-time digger, this is a rare and memorable experience.
When to Visit March through November brings the most popular conditions on the river, with spring's wildflowers, summer's cool shade, and fall's brilliant foliage making every season its own reward. Winter brings a quieter, more intimate kind of beauty.
We live on-site and are reachable via text or message any time. Pet friendly — $40 per pet per night, paid at the resort.

My wife and I had a great stay. It was quiet, especially loved the deck area outside lofted bedroom. The area is beautiful, we enjoyed kayaking on the river and saw a bald eagle! Hosts were great!

We have a family of eagles that live upriver from us, and sometimes when you are out on a river trip you are lucky enough to have one or two fly right over your canoe.
Very enjoyable stay a place we were able to take our animals with us and enjoy being with nature. Very quiet close to the river but not on the river as it looked. It was nice but we did think we would see the river from our cabin

In the winter when the trees are bare you can see a bit of the river but when the trees are green they obstruct your river view. We do not advertise this cabin as having a river view, but I have changed the description to further clarify this. This cabin is at the far end of our property for privacy and seclusion and is the farthest from the river of all four of our cabins. Honeybear cabin has the best view because it is the closest to the river. Sorry you misunderstood but glad you enjoyed your stay.

Little Piece of Heaven
My husband and I had wonderful time at the Ouachita Rose Cabin. The property is absolutely beautiful, and there were endless activities to choose from. We spent our long weekend hiking and mountain biking; we still only scratched the surface. The cabin is right in the middle of so many trails and just a little ways from Hot Springs. Jan was the best host! We cannot wait to come back soon!

Glad you had a wonderful time. When you come back maybe you can find time to go for a river trip, dig crystals, go horseback riding or zip lining. Jan

Private cabin
The cabin was nice but outdated and not very clean. The campground area was beautiful and we found several good nearby places to get in the river and there are crystal mines in the area
The property was just as described.
Our cabin was surrounded by trees, very private.
The river was low, had it been higher the kayak trip would have been better.
Mother Nature has her plan.
The trip helped us unwind and recharge.
I’m truly impressed with the young owners,
It’s a big property and they take great care.

Cabin was clean and inviting! The river area was great, lots of amenities for our use. (Canoes, kayaks and tubes). We had a great time floating the river. The cabin owners even came and found us on the river, to check on us after a short rain storm passed over! Awesom !
some of the furnishings are outdated but it didn't matter because it was just what I needed. The bed was the most comfortable thing ever, Hot tub was very nice, and the location was perfect. It was such a beautiful location. From the decks you had perfect views of God's beatiful work. The views at the river were just amazing. We loved our weekend getaway and will be looking to book there again.
We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was a quiet, regenerative stay. Amanda was very easy to get a hold of and answered our questions quickly. Loved the privacy and the hot tub and the fireplace. Dog friendly was a huge bonus!
This cabin was awesome. Secluded and had everything we needed. The hot tub was really nice and relaxing after a long day. I feel lucky I came across this gem when I was looking for cabins. Reasonable price and beautiful property overall. We will definitely be back when visiting the area.
Peaceful place to be with options around for activities. Very friendly owners who want to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Cabin was dated but fully furnished. WiFi available.
My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay! Amanda is very quick to respond to questions and help out with anything you need.
The firefly show every night was a truly amazing!
The Ouachita Rose Cabin is perfect! Equipped with everything you need. The second floor deck is like being in a treehouse overlooking the forest. The new owners, Casey and Amanda, were beyond accommodating and a pleasure to work with. Will definitely go back next year!
Needed to get away from the busy world for a quiet anniversary weekend and this place did not disappoint. Short walk to the river was a perfect spot to set up our hammock. Limited cell service was a big plus but able to still reach the outside world with the WiFi. The cabin was the best one we’ve stayed at and we’ve stayed at a few in Arkansas. The hot tub sealed the deal. The cabin was at the end of a dead end road so we had zero traffic. The owners house was about 1/4 of a mile away so they were there if we needed anything. Will be staying here again!!
We had a great time! The property was great and quite. It rained most of our stay, but we enjoyed playing games and relaxing in the hot tub! Will definitely be back. 💗
My wife and I enjoyed the cabin very much. It's roomy and comfortable with incredible views of the forest. I would recommend the cabin for a relaxing and memorable stay.
My wife and I had an amazing time on our honeymoon stay. We enjoyed our stay and the quiet time together. It was also nice to step back in time at the Rose cottage. We enjoyed the VCR and being unplugged. Overall it was a great experience!
The house was exactly like the pictures. It was a very nice cabin. I will say that it was a little dusty, but other than that, it was clean. Also, if you are not able to do stairs, I wouldn't suggest this particular cabin, because the only bathroom was upstairs. The property was very nice, quiet, and peaceful. Mrs. Jan was very helpful in showing us some things to do around town. Be sure to check the weather before you go, because it rained a lot and we couldn't play at the river on the property, so you'll want to have a back up plan. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would definitely go back.
The Rose cabin is secluded as promised! We had a lovely 6 night stay and enjoyed everything very much. Jan and her husband were welcoming and helpful. We were a tiny bit disappointed that you can’t see the river from the cabin, but it’s just a short walk away. Overall, a great stay and we would definitely go back.

Because the Ouachita Rose cabin is secluded it is a little farther from the river, about 180 yards. It does have a distant, seasonal view of the river in the winter months.
Coming to Arkansas and staying in a cabin on a property we knew little about was kind of scary. But once we got there and met Jan, our worries went away! She was super nice and very helpful! On day 1, we just sort of walked around to get familiar with where things were and to think about what we wanted to do the next day. So first thing the next morning, we headed to the river!! We started off in Kayaks but I soon flipped over but no biggy. The staff was there to make sure I was ok and to get us a canoe instead. We spent most of the day on the river fishing, canoeing, and swimming. There was also a hot tub in the cabin: a HUGE plus. If you get a chance , you should stay here!! You won’t be disappointed. We’re already planning our next trip there.
Wonderful experience! Jan is a wonderful hostess. The cabin, hot tub and double decks on the rose cottage were perfect. We enjoyed the peace of the national forest!
Both the cabin and the property were beautiful. Jan is as friendly as they come and she was very helpful with both our cabin needs and helping us find activities in the area. My girlfriend and I stayed in the cabin at the end of the road, on the edge of the national forest. This is the perfect spot for an outdoorsy couple looking for a few days in the woods away from the world.

About the host
Hosted by Amanda Sullivan
Hi! Our names are Casey and Amanda Sullivan. We were married in August 2020, and closed on this beautiful property in October 2020. It was a whirlwind year to say the least!
We moved from Denver, Colorado to enjoy all that Arkansas has to offer (so many outdoor activities are in this area).
We have 2 children, and one on the way!
Why they chose this property
We love this property because it is so secluded and peaceful. Surrounded on 3 sides by National Forest and the Ouachita River on the other really sets it apart from anywhere else. Our children (and ourselves) get to discover new and exciting plants and creatures we have never seen all the time, and go on fun river trips together.
