We were close to restaurants and Marina! Private location but did hear some traffic noise. Very clean cabin, bed was comfy and we slept great! Will go back!!
Our stay at Gunner’s Place Chalet was great! It was cozy, with everything you needed for a little retreat. Close distance and easy drive to New River Gorge.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The hot tub and fire pit were perfect in the evenings after hiking. Place was clean and had all the kitchen items we needed to have dinners there. Loved our stay!! Close to lots of hiking and water activities.
A nice location within driving or biking distance to the lake. We loved the hot tub and kitchen amenities. The cabin is pet friendly and perfect for our dog. We will be back!
Went to WV for some whitewater rafting, and Gunner's Place was the perfect spot to stay for the weekend. Nothing fancy, just a solid chalet in the mountains to relax in after an awesome trip down the river.
Michael was a great host, and we appreciate him for his hospitality and sharing his(and Gunner's) place with us.

The cabin was easily one of the best for privacy with a great view from the hot tub. Had minor issues but the owner was very generous even though it was out of their control. Much larger inside than the pictures show with nicely updated and cozy amenities. 8/10 would stay again
So, this was my first ever experience with Vrbo and staying at the Chalets and WOW this place was amazing! My mother and I enjoyed the stay fully and definitely plan to come for a mother-daughter trip again! Plates, silverware, and pans were provided along with other necessities. Even with it only being lower 40s we stayed warm and cozy in the chalet and the hot tub

Cabin was great we really enjoyed the outdoors particularly the cold nights in the hot tub. Only dislike was the beds. They were very uncomfortable.
The stay was good. However, there are bed bugs that bit my husband.

Hi Tasniya,
I apologize that your husband got bit by something, but I am 100% certain that we do not have bed bugs. If there was an issue with the cleanliness of the chalet, you should have brought it to my attention, and we would have corrected the issue.
Wonderful! Peaceful and relaxing! Our 11 year was thrilled to stay in the loft. We made full use of the kitchen, grill, fireplace and hot tub! The chihuahua had a blast too! Super convenient to get to shopping areas, wifi worked good and terrifically cozy gas heat during the winter. Thank you for a wonderful weekend getaway ❤💚💜
My husband and I loved staying at Gunnar’s Place! I the amount of space inside the Chalet exceeded our expectations. We did not cook any meals here but there was plenty of cookware, tableware, utensils, etc. to accommodate a group of people. The hot tub was the main attraction for us and it was lovely! They had so many towels available for use, more than you see at hotel even, which I definitely appreciated. We will definitely stay here again when we plan another trip to visit New River Gorge National Park!
Exactly what we were hoping for, look forward to coming back!
Booking process was easy, and we didn’t have a problem checking in an hour early. Gunners Place was exactly what was advertised and we loved our stay. They were rather close together, but they were angled in a way that the back patio area felt private. Only suggestion is adjusting the water heater as the hot water is currently enough to burn you, but it’s not an issue as long as you notice. If we come back to Summerville, we will be booking here again!
Wonderful stay in this chalet. It’s really cute, neat and tidy. Everything was provided that was stated. The hot tub was perfect after a day of climbing/hiking and is just outside the sliding door on the back deck. I agree the mattresses could be updated but other than that everything was great. Unloading in this particular chalet was easy. You can back right up to the front door. Thanks for everything! Our stay here made our trip extra special :)

Just Ok
We arrived to a Big Blue sewage truck pumping out the sewage tank the bathroom floor was still wet, im assuming from a toilet backup. The floor could probably stand to be replaced and if you expect a shower for longer the 4-5 minutes forget it #smallesthotwatertank

I apologize for the inconvenience of the septic truck being there on your arrival. Sometimes unforeseen issues occur. Your bathroom floor was cleaned and sanitized, I apologize it wasn’t dried completely. I appreciate the feedback about the hot water tank, I will look into this immediately.

Needs some upgrades
Great location, close to lake which is the reason for the weekend getaway. Close to Gulley and hiking trails. Very musty odor as soon as you walk in. Eyes were burning until we could air the space out. The space needs some repairs and/or upgrades. We don’t like to eat out all the time or do we eat fast food. The kitchen was not even close to being equipped to prep or cook any decent meal. Pots, pans, and cooking utensils were non existing. The bathroom shower was very strange. The shower pipe shakes unless you have the water on full blast. Outside deck is rotting. These small upgrades would make a huge difference.
Overall there were no major issues with the cabin although I do not think I would stay there again. A few minor things that were bothersome during our stay. We did not contact the owner about any of these issues because we didn't feel the need to raise the issue or that there was something really to do about it so I can't comment on their responsiveness.
Overall, for over $250 per night (with fees and taxes) I would not stay here again. Location to New River Gorge National Park and Summersville Lake area are conveinient and the reason we stayed here.
- Wifi seemed very slow. If 2 people were on it, it would freeze frequently
- Only heat source were propane wall heaters in the main living area and the bedroom. Personally, we didnt leave them on while not at the cabin
- The shower puddled in 1 corner that seemed to be sitting low. The water stayed in the shower but wouldn't drain easily.
- There were pots, pans, dishes, knives and other utensils but seemed fairly used and not the best quality. You can cook with them but will take some extra effort.
