This beautiful farm house is the culmination of four best friends' (and their growing families) vision for an eco-tourism experience in the foothills of Shenandoah national park (about 45 mins away). Throughout 2016-17, we worked with a leading firm in sustainable architecture to design and build this house. Set at the apex of a 33 acre property, this 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath dwelling features 2 lofted beds and is ideal for family get-togethers and intimate reunions with old friends. Many Blue Ridge Mountain sunsets have been celebrated from the balcony. We hope you will enjoy the house as much as we have!
The farmhouse is part of a larger 33 acre farm purchased by the owners in 2011. The farm includes a cabin with a tenant, chickens, and a pre-civil war leather shop that has been converted to an artist's studio. Be ready to explore the land considered some of the most beautiful in Virginia! Adjacent to the famous Rapidan river and at the foot of historic Clark's Mountain, wildlife includes deer, foxes, groundhogs, coyotes, and a once-spotted black bear. It's a great bird habitat for amateur ornithologists (with bald eagle, red-tail hawk, spotted owl, and blue heron sightings amongst others!). 13 acres of the property are in a USDA conservation program to support native habitat and restore the Rapidan river (part of the Chesapeake Bay watershed).
