About this property
Fantastic Private Quarters in Heart of Downtown
Summary:
Here you can live by relaxing both indoors and outdoors.
The Space:
Summons the expression of truly refined Ante-Bellum experience with all modern amenities. In the kitchen enjoy the timeless La CornueFe gas oven and cooktop range from Saint-Ouen l'Aumone, France served by a whisper quiet, made in the USA Vent-a-hood. Here you can celebrate the glorious culinary traditions of the Old World using only top-of-the-line All-Clad cookware and utensils. Stemless red and white wine glasses were not overlooked. All coffee mugs, and glasses are made of clear insulated glass along with the serving plates, salad plates and bowls so rest assured every item is sparkling. Tidy up after a meal using the stainless bridge faucet in the farmhouse porcelain sink. All items are stored using efficient Rev-a-shelf hardware to house the spices, cutlery, flatware and accessories. Of course, the cabinetry ,kitchen island and 8 foot tall barn doors are hand made on-site using only heart pine sourced during the renovation of the house, from the house.
The bathroom is tiled using the original re-purposed slate from Vermont dating back to when the house was built by shipwrights in 1851. The original standing-seam tin front porch roofing was salvaged and is applied to the wall as the backsplash to the hand-made heart pine vanity with hand-hammered nickel-plated vessel sink. The bathroom features a slate-tiled walk-in shower with Kohler rain-head showers. The water closets were sourced from Kent, England to provide a period feel from the Old-World.
In every bedroom , I provide you with a sound machine as well as smart-charging stations for your electronic devices. Enjoy the combination of cypress ship-lap wood walls and heart pine throughout. Most, if not all, heart pine material used dates back to approximately the year 1600.

Guest Access:
In addition to the wired and wifi internet connection, the two Samsung smart televisions have Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Video apps ready for you to watch if a night in is on the menu.
The Neighborhood:
Cannonborough is an inviting downtown neighborhood, blending historic residential construction with boutique retail shops. The building is within walking distance of the College of Charleston and Marion Square in the center of this historic city.
Getting Around:
I am three blocks from King Street. Cannon Street dead ends into King where you would be right in the middle of all the activity - many nice restaurants such as The Darling, the Grocery, Ordinary, Endaco, good places to have drinks like Stars, the Belmont, Midtown, Prohibition. There are also great niche restaurants closer than King Street. Pick the experience - fine dining to relaxed outdoor dining, it is here. You could look up Hominy Grill, Chez Nous, Trattoria Lucca, Fuel, Goulette. Since Cannon Street (and Spring Street) are the only legal areas in the city to host an AirBnb in Charleston, you will be in good company here.
There is plenty to see and places to visit within walking distance. Pedicabs are readily available to get you from point A to point B. Uber and Lyft are very common. You will not face any delay catching an uber. Mind as well catch an uber for about $20 to Magnolia or Middleton Plantations.
Other Things to Note:
If you want the full Charleston experience you need to sign up for a walking tour or carriage tour, a must. If you have sea legs and are aiming for total immersion into history, the steamboat runs to Ft. Sumter several times daily so that you can land your two feet at exactly where the Civil War started.
Additionally, aren't the toilets imported from Britain amazing?

I love my family. I love my work. I enjoy what I do. I am proud to be able to share the fruits of my labor with guests. I am a general contractor and building owner that takes pride in 5-star authentic historic renovations. I find it hard to not laugh at the mundane and the extraordinary. I am a born and raised Charlestonian. I am honored, and I enjoy, sharing a part of the Charleston experience with guests.
Why they chose this property
Built in the 1850s, this grand mansion recently underwent a painstaking renovation, resulting in a luxurious mix of historic material, modern convenience and style. This property is located in the heart of downtown in a vibrant neighborhood near Charleston's best restaurants and shopping. A fully stocked kitchen provides you options and won't leave you fretting the basics like for olive oil. Spread out onto the lovely piazza, soak in the sea breeze and consider the tales and lore this incredible city has seen in the last 300 years.
