About this property
Family Friendly Home on 20 Acre Farm
Quail Gate is a wonderful place to relax and spend time with friends and loved ones. Nestled on the edge of a forest, our single story home has large windows, modern furniture, and decor inspired by farming, fungi and Northern California flora and fauna. It features an exceptional kitchen, 4-6 person hot tub, and sweeping views of the farm's orchard; pasture, and pond. Here you will find beautiful landscaping, play swings for children, walking paths, and more.
We honor this land's history and ancestral stewards by giving $40 of every night purchased to Mendocino's indigenous tribes and organizations. Children 2 and under = free.
Additional features include a south facing deck that overlooks fruit trees and a pasture beyond. An additional west facing deck offers a peaceful hot tub experience. The shared spaces include a library/entertainment room, dining room, and a central living lounge adjacent to the chef-worthy kitchen. Most of our beds were sourced from local Fort Bragg company FloBeds and are made from eco-friendly organic materials. Remote-control Hunter Douglas blinds provide extra privacy when desired. Drawers, light switches, etc. are labeled for guests to easily find what they are seeking. Amenities are abundant; we do diligence to provide all the essentials.
Guests are invited to explore and enjoy the orchard, pond, gardens and many walking paths throughout the property. With consideration to farm operations we ask that any active construction areas/outdoor work spaces are respected and left alone.
We ask that guests are mindful that the hosts (Megan and Cameron) and a long-term tenant live on site. The property is loved, shared and to be enjoyed by all. Private spaces include Megan and Cameron's cottage across the driveway, the toolshed, workshop, garages and the long term tenants small apartment (blue door). While it is physically connected to the rental house, the tenants apartment is a completely separate interior space. There are no shared interior spaces between the apartment and rental house. The wall that separates the apartment and our “bee room” with the twin beds is heavily insulated to mitigate sound transfer.
Megan & Cameron are actively working throughout the property on various farming projects. You will likely see them working in the pastures and orchard during the day. Our long-term tenant also will likely be present around the property and driveway.
The property has an emergency generator that will be available for limited hours in the event of power outages to accommodate guest needs: showers, charging, & food storage etc.
Caspar our hometown is a small rural town between Fort Bragg (11 minutes North) and Mendocino Town (15 minutes South). We are located at the end of a private road, offering privacy and shelter from traffic noise. Our western neighbor is Fortunate Farm who offers a seasonal farm stand with fresh local produce (5 min walk through our west pasture). To the east we have two residential neighbors. The town of Caspar (5 min drive; 15 min walk) is small and quiet. Caspar has a beautiful community center and pub house offering British fare and live music (highly recommended!).
