This host thinks of every little detail. From high quality towels and linens to even having a few extra sweatshirts in the closet if you don’t account for the cool evenings! It was above and beyond clean and we enjoyed our stay very much.
It was a wonderful view and porch to relax on. The room were super cozy and i loved the heaters in the bathrooms. Wonderful place to stay! I can't wait to book again.
Great place to stay for an active week of hiking, kayaking, swimming, soccer, basketball, baseball and seeing the sites. Peaceful, quiet cabin to enjoy meals, talking on the porch, watching birds and relaxing. We enjoyed all of it!
We love this place! The view from the deck is second to none. We spent most of our time out there with morning coffee or grilling. The neighborhood is so quiet and the residents are very nice!
Wendy and Tim's cabin is just what it appears to be in the listing. It was a beautiful house in a beautiful location. Very clean and comfortable. We used everything they had to offer for a great two weeks.
Secluded spot, yet near the hot spot of Chimney Rock
Had plenty of room for 3 adults and 3 children. The preteens loved the ping pong table so much their father is thinking about buying one.Conveniently located to hiking trails and village life.
Beautiful cabin with a beautiful view. Very close to Chimney Rock & Lake Lure, and a nice drive to Asheville. Everything stocked except for food (and actually there was some in fridge & pantry). Had a wonderful stay! Loved the big windows!
We had a great stay at the Gummy Bear Cabin. It was a short walk down to the kayak drop area, and the large green park area down the stairs from the property were a hit for our young son who wanted to kick his ball around and hit some whiffle balls.
The house is well appointed and we were not lacking for anything. Grocery store (Ingles) is about 20 min way (as are most amenities, restaurants, etc.) and navigating the Lake Lure beach was simple and straightforward. We enjoyed our stay!
The cabin was exactly as described. Everything inside was quite new and worked perfectly. The beds are very comfortable as is the furniture. The deck provides a great view of the cliffs on the north side of Hickory Nut Gorge. We didn't get to use the kayaks, but the Village beach area looks great. In spite of some rain we very much enjoyed our stay.
The Gummy Bear cabin was perfectly situated with convenient access to a private beach, and picturesque view of the surrounding mountains. The wrap around porch invited us each evening to sip cocktails, relax, and look and listen to the local wildlife. One night a full moon lit up the mountain side. The cabin itself was well appointed, and everything we needed was there. It comfortably fits six.
The house was very nice and in a beautiful setting. The owners were great about reaching out to check in and see if we needed any help. The kitchen was stocked with lots of nice touches like spices, coffee, and tea. Our big that was disappointment was that the lake had been drained and was not filled up. We did not realize that was happening so it was our fault, but was a real bummer.

Debra, we are delighted that you enjoyed our house. So sorry to hear about the lake. The town of Lake Lure had dropped the it to do some repairs during the winter and it was scheduled to be back up by April 1 prior to your arrival. Unfortunately mother nature didn't cooperate and provide enough rain by that date. For anyone else coming to visit the town, the good news is, the lake is full again.
Gummy Bee Cbin--Great Place for a Personal Retreat or Having fun with Family
We needed to take a retreat from our everyday demands and this was the perfect place for us. Before arriving, we picked up a few provisions to carry us through those days when we did not feel like going out to eat at a local restaurant. To our surprise, many of the condiments and spices were already on hand. As we went trough our daily rituals, we were so happy to see how thoughtful the owners were in providing things that you would not necessarily think of to make your stay stressless. They even provided an extra tank of propane for the gas grill and a host of brochures of local establishments and maps of Lake Lure. The hosts were so helpful when needed and respected our privacy.

Don’t Believe all one sees
Photos misleading. No view, stairs and driveway dangerous. Stove terrible ,bed linens poor.
Supplies very sparse. Quantity for one day.
Managers helicopter via phone. Not relaxing.

This guest accidently booked two homes and thought they had canceled this one. They realized that they had not canceled the day before arrival. They never entered they house or property and are are disgruntled. As you read the other reviews it becomes obvious that they are upset about their mistake and are taking it out on us..
The cabin was exactly as shown in photos. We were very impressed and happy to find so many helpful small but important things like salt and coffee filters even jackets in the closet plus many more.
The owners were very nice and accommodating. We lost power once due to a downed tree and she notified me before I even knew it happened. We had a great time with our adult kids and their spouses while there to attend a wedding. I highly recommend this house.
We really enjoyed our stay at the gummy bear cabin. The location was so convenient, the views are beautiful, and the cabin had everything needed for our stay including a nice grill on the large deck and kayaks to enjoy on the lake. The property manager was also very accommodating during our stay.
We loved gummy bear cabin. It felt really secluded but close enough to everything as well. The home has everything and more you could need! The owners were incredibly helpful and accommodating. My kids didn’t want to leave! Hoping to make another trip back.
We loved staying at this house. It was nicely appointed with attractive and comfortable furniture. And the view from the wrap-around porch was stunning. We also liked the rustic feel of the community, with the beach, kayaks, waterfall, and walking trails.
The cabin was very well decorated, and had everything one would need for a pleasant stay. The furniture was comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. Wendy very accommodating.

About the host
Hosted by Wendy Appleby
We purchased this property in 2016 and love every minute we spend at our cabin. The cabin was in original condition from the 1980 when we purchased it. After 2 years of remodeling, we decided to share our paradise with visitors. Although we spend a lot of time at our cabin we don't mind sharing it with others when we are not here. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.
