About this property
COLORADO LAKE HOUSE Away from it all: Boat, Hike, Fish, ATV, Hunt
Your Rocky Mountain Basecamp Awaits!
Imagine waking up to sweeping views of Green Mountain Reservoir, coffee in hand, deer wandering through the yard, and absolutely nothing on the agenda but whatever you want. Welcome to your new favorite family escape.
Tucked away in quiet Heeney, above the Heeney Marina, not directly on the water, less than 2 hours from Denver, this three-bedroom mountain retreat is equal parts adventure headquarters and cozy hangout. Inside, the open floor plan is built for togetherness — full-size shuffleboard, foosball, ping pong, and darts mean the fun doesn't stop when the sun goes down. And when it does go down? Step outside to the firepit under a sky absolutely packed with stars. No, seriously — the Milky Way hits different at 8,000 feet with no light pollution.
Days here look like this: - Morning fly fishing on world-class trout water - Afternoon on the lake with a rented boat from the marina right -below the house - Walk your dogs to swim in the lake and watch the humming birds and bald eagles - Sunset hike with mountain views in every direction - Campfire, marshmallows, and a fox sighting if you're lucky or just stay home and read, work on the puzzle and relax in the hammock - your choice!
When you're ready to venture out, Silverthorne's restaurants and outlet shopping are 30 minutes away. Copper Mountain and Keystone are 40 minutes out. Steamboat Springs and Breckenridge are within an hour. The mountains are your playground — this is just home base. - Pets welcome and encouraged! ($75 cleaning fee per stay- you must pick up poo) - Sleeps up to 6 by county regulations - strictly enforced - NO DISHWASHER - you will have to hand wash - The bathroom is very "cozy" - old house didn't originally have plumbing but nicely upgraded over time - Booking requires separate rental agreement per house rules
Book early — boat rentals at the marina go fast and hunting seasons fill up.

About the host
Hosted by Michael Taylor
We are AF Veterans that retired in Colorado to have fun in the Mountains. We love the outdoors and are a very active family. We hope you enjoy our cabin as much as we do and ask that you take care of it as if it were your own, so we can continue to offer it for rent. We are using all of our VRBO money to make the cabin a better more accommodating place. Hopefully, next time you stay you will see the improvements over the years!
Why they chose this property
We love Summit County. We love skiing, hunting, fishing, hiking and anything outdoors. Once we discovered that there was a place available in a quiet community on a lake and within 45 minutes of the ski resorts we were in love. We bought the place and have enjoyed so many memories with our family and friends.
What makes this property unique
After a long day away from the hustle and bustle of the city (hiking, fishing, boating) enjoy the outdoor fire pit overlooking lake. Cabin includes full size Shuffleboard table, foozball, ping pong, darts, surround sound, local hikes, close to hunting, fun lake activities, great fishing. Drive without traffic to see the fall colors change and beautiful scenery. You will not regret staying off the beaten path in our personal paradise as you watch the deer, fox and humming birds in our back yard.
