I am the owner and day to day manager of Door County Stay, a local company that offers five high quality, five star rated, vacation rental homes in the Baileys Harbor Area of Door County. To complete your rental you will have to sign our e agreement. I have five properties listed and if for some reason one property is not available or suitable, I may propose that you stay at one of my other properties.

Perfect first Get-A-Way with a Little One

We booked Carraig Dale with extended family. We have a five-month-old granddaughter and wanted to go somewhere our kids felt was drivable and cozy. This was the perfect location! The swings in the trees, sprawling acres of green grass and wrap around porch made this this the ideal family location. The night sky is phenomenal from this house as well!!! The host communicated with us frequently and answered my many questions during the six month time frame from when we booked. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay!

Peaceful Weekend Getaway

This cozy and beautiful home was perfect for our girlfriends weekend away. It is furnished beautifully and had all of the amenities we needed or could have wanted. Very clean. Great communication with the owner leading up to our stay. Highly recommend!

Wonderful place to make memories

The cottage was nice and clean. Our kids enjoyed playing in the huge yard outside and roasting marshmallows for s’mores by the campfire. Our two dogs felt right at home as well. The location of the property was wonderful, a short drive to anywhere and everywhere we wanted to go. The hosts were in contact with us throughout our stay and very helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had. This week was so much more than we could have asked for!

Everything about our stay was perfect. Martina was great to work with and answered all our questions in a very timely manner. The house is beautiful and was great for ourselves and our adult children. The location is right in the middle of everywhere. We enjoyed being in the country and away from large groups but had easy access to all Door County has to offer. Will definitely return for future visits!

Three generation weekend fun

Great accommodations for the eight of us: six adults, two young children. I was impressed by how true the property was described and definitely met our needs and expectations. !hidden costs beware!

The property was extremely clean and tidy! Well maintained and up to date. Unfortunately there are hidden charges including the need to bring your own sheets and towels or an additional charged to you. And no coffee provided. Also the hefty security deposit is held for an additional two weeks after our stay ended.

I have made a decision not to respond to reviews unless there are inconsistencies or misrepresentations in the review itself. I am responding to this review because the guest claimed that there are “hidden” charges and that there were no linens provided. We advertise on VRBO, a major competitor of theirs and on our own website. We make it unambiguous and clear - additional services may incur additional costs. We also request that all guests sign an e-contract as a condition of rental. On the cover page of this agreement we highlight in yellow the most overlooked items in our agreement. The following line is copied from this guest’s signed contract: “Sheets and towels are NOT provided. This is an additional service and must be ordered prior to occupancy.” Most of our guests prefer to bring their own sheets so we do not provide them unless requested. If we do provide the linens there is a reasonable charge. As for the security deposit fee, it is standard and within norms for Door County. While we do charge a security deposit, we do not get access to it unless we make a claim. It is collected, held and returned by VRBO. Full details are in VRBO’s terms and conditions. This guest had an issue with renting my beautiful home from the moment she booked it. She was upset that she had to pay tax (who isn’t?), but I am only doing this because I am legally obligated to do so by the various taxing authorities. She also was very annoyed that she had to pay a VRBO fee and blamed me for this stating that “if you did not offer your home on VRBO, I would not have had to pay the VRBO fee. ” (I also have to pay fees to VRBO) I do take, very seriously, guest feedback but I cannot come up with a fix for this one. As the guest stated, my beautiful home was “extremely clean and tidy! Well maintained and up to date”. This is true. What is also true is that my fees are listed on VRBO, my website and elsewhere. Great, quiet, central location!

Our stay at Carraig Dale Cottage was very nice. The property is centrally located and was only a short drive to any of the towns we hoped to visit. The outdoor space was lovely, though we didn't use it much, given the cold weather. There were only two negatives to the property: 1) a slight odor in the double/double bedroom and bathroom that we could not identify but was definitely noticeable, and 2) the technology was rather challenging. The wifi signal was weak, the TV/Roku instructions weren't very clear, etc. Not a big deal for many people but would be challenging to try to work while there or entertain kids.

Beautiful country cottage.

My husband and I, along with our 2 senior dogs, spent 3 nights at this lovely cottage. We really liked the quiet, country setting. Check in was super easy, and Martina contacted us the day before with all the details. The house was very clean and beautifully decorated. Kitchen was fully stocked (except for paper towel). The "welcome" bottle of wine was a nice surprise upon arrival. The beds and sofas were clean and very comfy. The washer/dryer are nice (just bring your own laundry soap). The bathrooms were clean, no problem with hot water or water pressure. We had a great time and I'd definately book this cottage again !! Only downside was no satelite TV (if you have kids and the weather is crappy). This was not a big deal for us, we used Netflix one night when it rained. Also, there was a faint odor in the bedroom with 2 beds. Not sure if it was coming from the attached laundry room or the mound septic system with all the rain we had gotten prior to our visit. Not horrible, but something was causing a slight smell and we couldnt figure out from where. Since we slept in another bedroom, we only noticed it when doing a load of laundry. Again, no huge deal for us but maybe something that could be looked into. Those little things aside, I still give this rental 5 stars !!! Gorgeous space, perfectly placed

We had such a great time in Door County, and Martina's house was one of the main reasons why. Spotless, great layout, lots of open space outside. Not super-close to anything, but reasonably close to everything. This is the ONLY place we'll stay when we go to Door County--book it!

Fantastic Property

Our family rented to of Martina's houses, Carraig Mor and Carraig Dale. Carraig Mor was right downtown and we could walk to everything. The garden was just starting to bloom, very beautiful. Carraig Dale was about 2 miles outside Baileys Harbor and was also a fantastic property. Both properties were very clean and Martina was super helpful during our weekend stay. Would definitely rent again.

Great Stay!

We had a great time at Martina's cottage. The place is charming and clean, with a fully stocked kitchen. Would definitely recommend! Make sure you remember to bring your own linens and such, as those are not provided. Also the place is a bit hard to find (we used Google Maps and it took us to a different location) but look for the big barn they have next to the cottage.

Nice House!

Good house in a very private and quite location with good access to both bay and lake communities of Door Cty. My only complaint is the kitchen wasn't stocked with things like paper towels, paper napkins, etc... I've come to expect them in VRBO's. It's a niggly complaint, otherwise great! Would I stay there again? Absolutley... and I'd pack a roll of Bounty!

Better than Expectations

My original concern was the distance from Bailey's Harbor but it was insignificant and the house was perfect for our needs. Everything we could possibly need was there. The furnishings were top rate. My son gave me excellent reviews on how the bedroom looked and I had nothing to do with it. All of the kitchen appliances were perfect. I also appreciate the support I received from the owners concerning our inability to use the TV. Since we were involved in the jazz camp, we really didn't need the TV. There's too much to do in Door County! This is the best rental I have ever had.

I started renting my first home, Carraig Mor, about 15 years ago. It was not your normal Door County Cottage, it was my home and was rented as such. Travelers really appreciated having the comforts of home away from home. I have since added four more properties. I have only recently started using Airbnb but I have been in business before them, and offering beautiful properties for rent long before it was fashionable. I have hundreds of five star reviews. Why they chose this property

Carraig Dale Cottage is a totally refurbished 1200 sq. ft. home. No expense was spared in the re-birthing of this gem that comfortably sleeps eight in three bedrooms, with two full bathrooms. When you walk in the door you will be infused with peace and tranquility. This is not random or accidental. We understand that you are on vacation, that you need to distress and spend quality time with your loved ones. We have set the stage – the rest will be easy.
Carraig Dale is a newer home. The central main living area, with its beautiful vaulted ceiling, consists of a spacious living room and a fully functional, modern and equipped kitchen, complete with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances including a washer and dryer. There is filtered water. There is a 700 sq. foot deck that has a Weber BBQ. Sitting at the front of this deck for sunset is a must. There are two plush couches and an oversized chair in the living room. There is a TV with DVD and a sound system. The receiver is Bluetooth capable so you can stream in your own music. Free WI-FI is also provided. There is no TV service but you can access your subscriptions via the Roku stick.
We understand that you may have a little apprehension renting a home online. But please take comfort in the fact that this is what we do, and we do it right. Our flagship home, Carraig Mór Cottage, is one of the most reviewed homes in Door County many five star reviews. We take pride in serving you and this shows through in the quality of our homes.

What makes this property unique

Carraig Dale is in a rural area just outside Baileys Harbor. One of the most beautiful attributes of this location is that it has almost no light pollution. The lights from Carraig Dale (and Carraig Nua, next door) are just about all the light you will get at this location. Turn of the lights at night and lay out on the lawn. You can gaze into the heavens. If you have a larger group, you can book both homes as many of our previous guests have done.
