Our family of 5 had a great weekend on this fun houseboat! Paula and John could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. The boat is well-equipped and spacious. The queen master bed is very comfortable with memory foam mattress. The boys loved the novelty of the two double-bed sleeping berths below deck and our daughter was comfortable on the futon. Houseboat is one of two on Paula and John's charming campground, along with a yurt, a "glamping" setup and some other spots. They kindly included use of kayaks/canoes from their shop in our rental, and it was so much fun to tour around the canal looking for wildlife. Turtles and beaver dams abound! There's a large, shared (though we had to ourselves) bonfire pit that John stocks every night, so s'mores are a breeze. Full-size fridge on boat would make longer stays easy. Bathroom was roomy for a boat and toilet/sink/shower all worked great. Kids enjoyed fishing off the back of the boat (small blue gils, carp, sunfish and bass), as well as on the adjacent dock. Water was cool and clear and kids had ball swimming and floating in blow-up tubes on canal. Waterloo is a perfectly charming little town. We loved the Star Diner (twice!) and Ciccino's Pizza. Our only challenges on trip was that the weather was unusually hot for Upstate NY and the boat's air-conditioner struggled hard the first night to keep up; keeping drapes drawn second day helped. And we got a bit chewed by mosquitoes at campfire at night (we should have used the insect repellent Paula and John left fireside more quickly!), but that's to be expected with waterfront summer living. Location nestled between Cayuga and Seneca Lakes was so convenient for visiting both and hitting some wineries. Such a peaceful, pretty spot - we could have easily spent more time here. :-)
