Great house for our stay with a well-stocked kitchen and 3 nice bathrooms. Loved the location - walking distance to downtown and the island library. Beautiful, giant willow tree on the property was a bonus!
Older house in need of updates. Drshes were dirty, chairs in kitchen really uncomfortable, stove doesnt open because refrigerator is in the way. Shower in back was leaking so bad from underneath that you need a towel or 2 to soak up water every time its used. Mildew and mold in the bathrooms.about a pack worth if cigarette butts on the ground outside the back door next to rodent trap. Driveway is a long way from house.beds were really uncomfortable we were working in the area and stayed there for 5 days during winter when rates are reasonable, but would not want to pay summer rates to stay there . Place is kind of a dump

Michael, I believe your review is in response to the security damage that we had to collect based on the trashed house you left us filled with marijuana smoke, a pile of marijuana left on the kitchen counter, food on the floors, beer bottles all over the place and garbage, not to mention the ruined bedsheets and duvet, and we had to throw away the entry rug because it was so smashed in with either plaster or drywall mud. If there was a way to post pictures and the video here, I would.
Enjoyed our stay at this home. We were there during spring break to get some things done. The location is perfect..walking distance to town! House was clean and had so much character!
Our second time here. The location is one of the main reasons we stay here. Walking distance to downtown Elk Rapids and the beach. Originally we booked this because it is pet friendly. The only thing we were disappointed in is the lawn was thick as a hay field. No big deal since we didn't have to cut it. Price and location are the main reasons we continue to come back.
The location of your Elk Rapids home worked out perfectly for our last minute trip. Very walkable to restaurants and the beach and pickleball courts at the park. It was also convenient for our excursions to Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Petoskey. Communications with you and check-in/out process went smoothly. Would stay again if in the area.
The home is cute and cozy! Tastefully decorated and clean with everything we needed for a wonderful visit. The hosts even put up a Christmas tree for us! We’d definitely love to stay here again, any time of year!
Nice house with plenty of space for 3 adults and 2 kids. Easy walk to the beach, and easy drive to traverse city and our day trip to sleeping bear dunes. The town of elk rapids, also walking distance, was wonderful as well. We'd be glad to stay and visit again.
This was a great location to visit both Elk Rapids, Traverse City and Bellaire. My husband an I enjoyed all the space of this listing and could see bringing a larger group to this listing in the future. It was a great stay even in the non-tourist season.
It was a very nice place to stay while in town for a wedding. Plenty of space and a cute place. A lot of yard area as well with a beautiful large tree on the corner. Walking distance to the beach and downtown was great!
The property is very nice, great location for visiting tunnel of trees, as well as glen arbor, traverse city, sleeping bear sand dunes, fall colors were so amazing, loved it!
Clean, tidy, efficient, a block from the beach and park, and a couple blocks from beautiful downtown Elk Rapids!
Walk 1 minute to the best sunsets!
Simple fun.
The house was very cute, listing was accurate. Location was excellent, easy walk to the beach and downtown shopping. Kids loved the beach playground. Kitchen had everything we needed. The only hiccups were that we didn't get an automatic message with the check in information. However, the host replied very quickly to my question of how to check in, so it didn't really effect our stay. There were also a lot of little fly bugs on the ceiling corners in the kitchen when I checked in. I was able to vacuum them up in a few minutes and they stayed gone the rest of our stay, so likely someone before us just opened the window without a screen. Otherwise it was very clean (no issues with beds, bathroom or counters). There was also a nice peek a boo view of the bay from the kitchen, living room and upstairs bedroom!
Had a great stay a this cute beach property. You can’t beat the location. Overall the inside of the home was clean. Kitchen was well stocked. The home itself could use a little TLC. Windows could be cleaned

About the host
Hosted by Steve and Tami Simpson
My wife Tami and I, and honestly my whole family have helped to make this house into our family vacation home. We have three kids- two boys and a girl in the middle. I am a College administrator and Tami is a Real Estate Agent in Ann Arbor, MI. We are both graduates of the University of Michigan and are dedicated football fans. Additionally, I coach my youngest son Milo who is the starting center ad long snapper for the Ann Arbor Pioneer HS Football team. Outside of work, our family has dedicated itself to establishing and developing a property management business. We are hoping to establish a presence in northern Michigan that will allow us to live and work full time there. In the meantime we work during the week, and spend just about every weekend either managing or doing construction on our next venture!
Tami and I met in the restaurant business many years ago. She was a waitress and I was a chef. In cliche fashion, we fell in love and got married. Today for fun we still cook, forage, and fish. We also make our own dry cured sausages and hams and hope to one day also buy a food truck that sells sandwiches made on our homemade sourdough English muffins. We love sports- the Lions, Big Blue, and my son's lacrosse and football teams. We also love the outdoors. We really enjoy spending time on the amazing lakes around this home with our family and friends.
We built this house to be a place for our family- increasingly scattered to the winds these days- to be able to come home to and spend time together. We sincerely hope you will be able to do the same here with your friends and loved ones and we look forward to hosting you.
Why they chose this property
We have been coming to ER for more than 20 years to stay with my parents and to visit our best friends from college. After 16 years of sleeping on the futons at our folks' place, we decided to invest in one of our own. We love Elk Rapids! There is no other place where we feel so safe to let our kids loose. Boating, snowmobiling, fishing, dining, shopping, and so many other great activities are so close to the house. We love everything ER offers and there is not a better community to live in!
