PLEASE NOTE: HISTORICALLY TO KEEP THE COST DOWN TO RENTERS I DID NOT ACTIVATE ONLINE BOOKING UNTIL IT WAS REQUIRED. As a result there are no listed reviews. Many renters come back year after year and I have always had strong compliments on the home and rental experience.
This historic home was stripped to the base frame and completely updated and modernized. We added granite countertops, a marble bathroom, and refinished wood floors. All the comforts of home with a full kitchen stocked with all potential necessities. This home is in outstanding condition. The town is a wonderful close community, and matches your imagination of small town living.
Wake up and go for a jog or bike ride and stop at the local coffee shop and bakery. Restaurants range from sophisticated to casual home cooking. The town is completely surrounded by water with the East Bay of Lake Michigan along the west side of town and Elk Lake to the east. You can travel by boat from Elk Lake to Torch Lake, known as the Caribbean of the North (National Geographic.) Elk Rapids is known for festivals and art fairs, and during the summer on Wednesday nights, the streets are closed for food and entertainment.
This area is an ideal spot to hunt for morel mushrooms in the spring, enjoy the beaches in the summer, do color tours in the fall and ski in the winter. Elk Rapids is a hidden gem in Northern Michigan and once discovered you will be back every year

Friendly neighborhood and great location. 1 block from restaurants and 2 blocks from beach. House was clean with provided necessities. Owner was responsive and kind. Highly recommended and would rent again.
This house was awesome and very comfortable. Kitchen had everything you needed. My only suggestion for improvement would be a gas grill. We had a great time. Location was perfect. Linda was great and very responsive.
Super clean, thoughtful touches like nice hand soaps, bath products, kitchen basics. Comfortable house that allowed us to spread out. Extremely quiet neighborhood and only a 2 minute walk to town and the beach. A great jumping off point to explore the area. We all loved it! And the booking and communication were easy. We look forward to staying here again.

Great Rental!
Stayed for a week, close to multiple beaches and tennis courts. A couple great restaurants in town and love the old movie theater. The owner was responsive and all details were thought of in advance. Like a hotel. We will be back!

About the host
Hosted by Linda
I had vacationed with friends in Elk Rapids for several years and gotten to know the town and many of the people that live there. I fell in love with it and ventured to purchase my own home in 2005. Since then, I have spent many weekends and holidays. Recently, business travel had prevented me from visiting as often, leaving the home empty often. I figure if I love it so much, others might as well.
