Great View
I rent the cabin for the new year week. The cabin requires about 100 yards of walking due to the snow in the winter. It is a little tiring to carry all the stuff on foot. But the view from the cabin is beautiful and worth every ouch of it. The cabin has some wear and tear but the owner is very nice and responds to my questions/requests very quickly. I will definitely go back again.

Great house for large group
The house is in a great location and is very comfortable for a group. We enjoyed the renovated kitchen and made use of the many games on the game shelves.

Decent Stay for Last Minute Booking
Decent Stay for Last Minute Booking. There was plenty of parking in the summer months but not sure about winter months. Super close to Bear Valley which was great. The house was not as clean as I would like it because the babies or anyone who wasn't wearing a shoe inside the house had black feet by the end of the day. The worst part was there was no trash service, so we had to take the trash out to Bear Valley daily which was inconvenient. Other than that, the cabin served our needs and was decent for being last minute.

Beautiful Home-Challenging Parking
First off, I’d like to say that this home is beautiful. It is huge, with 5 beds per room (4), just in the upstairs area. There also 2 full baths. Once the lower level ( full 2nd kitchen, living area, bedrooms, laundry area, etc.) is renovated this home is going to be a dream! We traveled with our 5 year old and 2 year old and there was plenty of space to run and play, plus the perk of having a literal snow park in our front/side/back yard. The WiFi was fast and the movie/TV selections were perfect for my littles. It is about 30 mins from downtown Arnold and about 15mins south of Bear Valley Resort and Ski Area. The owner, Jill, is AMAZING!!! She went the extra mile (literally) when the pipes froze the morning we were supposed to check in. She traveled up to the home to make sure we would have running water upon arrival. The home was clean and I did not get that “ewww icky” feeling that you can sometimes get with rentals. Now… the downsides. There is little to Zero cell service once you hit Arnold. There is WiFi in the home, so make sure that your cell phone plan is set up for WiFi calling. The biggest downfall of this home 😩THE ROADS ARE NOT PLOWED AND THERE IS NO ASSIGNED PARKING🤦🏻‍♀️. Two homes are permanent residence who each have two cars. There is no where else to park in that lot, without having to dig out your own spot. When we arrived at the home it was pitch black out and the snow was deep! Having to haul in a sleepy two year old and 4 days worth of meals, snow gear, etc. in the freezing cold from quite a distance( which I’m sure is not quite the haul without the snow), was pretty challenging. Now back to the parking. We had parked in front of another car, but allowed for ample space for the other cars to move in and out of their spaces. In the pitch black, even if we’d known to dig our own spot, there was no way to see at that point anyways, so it wouldn’t have happened. The next morning (8am) neighbors came to tell us to move, explaining that there was no parking for renters unless we dug our own spot…. This was definitely not how we planned on spending the first morning of our trip… but it was what it was. We did what had to be done and dug out our own spot…. Just to have it taken by a renter that arrived after we had gone snowboarding that day. 😡 after the 2nd time digging out a spot, we were over it 🤦🏻‍♀️

Why they chose this property

We LOVE the mountains and we used to rent one week every summer so the family could be together. As the family grew, we had trouble finding rentals to accommodate our size group (20). We decided as a family to look for a retreat and came across this hidden gem. When we first saw this house, the area felt like a winter wonderland. Pictures could not do the view justice. We decided that this was the perfect project for our family and we began some renovations immediately and are continuing to update and renovate parts of the cabin. We love this place and the location and we hope you do too!

What makes this property unique

This property is so different depending on the time of year you see it. But one thing does not change... the stunning views out the bedroom windows. I love letting the kids build snowmen and sled all day in front of the house and warming them up with hot chocolate afterwards. Depending on the year, we could have snow at the house from Thanksgiving to Memorial Day... which is just SO MUCH FUN! We have outdoor cameras on the house so we can tell you snow levels before you get there. When the valley in California gets HOT, we love to escape and enjoy the cool mountain air. Summer time is home to Bear Valley music festival... it is a big deal and a lot of fun. It is also a great time for kayaking, biking, hiking, and exploring the beauty all around.
