About this property

Spacious 5 BR Mountain Home For Large Families Or Groups

Located in the Big Trees area, this Arnold/Dorrington house comfortably sleeps 14. There are 4 downstairs bedrooms, all with a queen bed (rooms are all equal sized) plus a 5th bedroom in the loft with 2 queen beds and 2 twins (bunk bed style). Stocked with fun games (upstairs loft area with Ping Pong, Air Hockey and Foosball) for the kids and a large common area downstairs, you can host a large group without feeling cramped. In the winter, this is the closest stop to Bear Valley and in the summer, you're minutes away from the Stanislaus River and Big Trees State Park and a short drive to Murphys (wine tasting, caving and more). We have a welcome book at the cabin highlighting activities in the area, as well as some fun ideas for in the cabin. Hope you enjoy your stay! (For families, this house has been 'baby-proofed' with safety gates, high chairs (x2), toys and pack-n-play (x2) available).

We typically require at least a 3-night minimum but feel free to inquire about 2-nights and we'll let you know.

Cabin rentals DO NOT include linens so renters are responsible for bringing their own sheets, towels and pillowcases. (Blankets and Pillows provided at the cabin). If you would like to rent linens ($18/bed), we can connect you to the local service in the area.

Our house does not have A/C but it's rarely needed. The cabin stays very cool during the day and evenings in Dorrington cool down even in the summer

Lastly, we get a lot of inquiries from people wanting to go to Yosemite. While we're very close to many outdoor adventures in Calaveras County, it's about a 3-hour drive to Yosemite Valley as you have to go back out to the central valley to get there.

This cabin experience was by far my favorite. The owner was quick at responding, very understanding and helpful. It was outdated but made the cabin feel like a cabin. Plenty of kitchen space that I loved.

Wonderful family trip

The cabin and host were wonderful! Lots of space to hang out in and the grandsons loved the air hockey table. Everything we needed was provided in the home. Will definitely go back!

My family and I enjoyed, and felt very comfortable during our stay here at this Mountain Home. Beds were comfortable, the kitchen (dinner/cookware) and restrooms were adequately stocked. With a little sweep of the outside deck, and dust off of patio furniture--we sipped our coffee and/or dined al fresco (a preference of mine).The location is conveniently located between many trails/lakes, and resources for gas, food, or miscellaneous supplies. Accommodations made for a memorable family retreat. Thank you.

Christmas time in the mountains!

Spacious mountain cabin. Plenty of room. We went to Calaveras Big tree and also to Alpine Lake! Everything we needed was there!

Fantastic house and owner

This is one of our favorite cabins to stay at. The listing was spot on, and the owner went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. The bed situation and layout made this perfect for our large family. We had nine adults and a lot of kids, and this was more than enough room. Will definitely rebook this cabin for future trips.

Very nice area to explore. All instructions from the owner were timely and clear. The major issue during our stay was having to deal with mice in the house (living room and bedrooms). The house also needs little upgrade on all toilet flushes.

Very responsive host

Ben was very reaponsive, he answered all my questions/ inquiries and told me about places I can bring my kids around the area. The house was very spacious. There was 3 families , a total of 13, and everyone was very comfortable.

The cabin was extremely dirty, unkept, dead rats under the bed, a dead bat in the shower, spiderwebs hanging from the ceilings, spiders everywhere, dirty silverware in the drawers, the oven was disgusting. I rented this cabin to celebrate early Thanksgiving and it was embarrassing to have my family there. Very dissatisfied and not happy at all with our rental.

Great cabin!! Definitely recommended for a large group.

Pros: The cabin is spacious enough to hold big group. Lot of things stocked in the pantry Lots of games, toys and entertainment for every age group. Cons: Kitchen and appliances are old and outdated but everything works perfectly fine. Brining your own towel and linen was little bit of an inconvenience.

Very roomy cabin

The whole family had a wonderful stay at the cabin. It was very roomy. The owner was very attentive. They had many board games and toys. They had a ping pong table and a fools game table upstairs. The upstairs had a loft with roomy couches and a large room with lots of twin and double beds. This worked out great for us because of the kids could stay upstairs and we could stay downstairs. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic Family Cabin

We thoroughly enjoyed renting your lovely cabin for the weekend! We loved the open floor plan, it worked out well and it was easy to keep track of our little ones. We also loved that the cabin is well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, baby equipment, everything we needed and so much more! We didn't need to bring anything "extra" along which is such a big plus when you travel with small children! Another real plus is the location, it is so close to great parks, lakes, rivers, etc. The cabin is also minutes away from Murphy's, a great place to wine taste, dine and much more. There were so many things to do, we didn't know what to do first. We will definitely visit again soon!

Great floorplan

Great floor plan, nicely balanced with four equal bedrooms and two bathrooms at the first floor, perfect to share by up to four families. Huge loft and fifth bedrooms upstairs, perfect for entertainment and kids to play games. Great location close to Bear Valley. Excellent management and great communication. The cabin is a bit outdated though, the carpet is old and some holes in the ceiling in one bathroom are the cons. Also there's no access to the back patio during winter and there's no grill.

Winter getaway

We had a wonderful stay. The house was very roomy and well stocked. The house was clean. They have a fireplace with plenty of wood to keep you warm.They also have a house heater. They are located close to restaurants stores and activities. If you want to stay in they have plenty of games and pingpong and air hockey and foosball tables. The house is kid friendly and has safety gates and plenty of kid toys. The house is right off the main highway. We all fit really comfortably in the large house. The owner was very attentive to our needs and quick response was appreciated. I will be returning soon. This is our second stay…

The cabin was wonderful, very ample and great for a family. There is plenty of parking and the trees around the cabin were beautiful. The stove keeps the house warm. The kitchen had all the tools you. Red to make a meal. The cabin was clean and family friendly.

Well laid out and functional

We would rent this property again for our family reunion. It had a large common area, large eating area, fully equipped kitchen with lots of counter space, and nice large deck for summer use. It was very well laid out with equal sized queen bedrooms downstairs and additional beds upstairs. The bathrooms were small but functional. It showed its age (not recently remodeled) but worked great for us. Next time we'll bring a couple extra large cooking pots. The owner, Ben, provided very detailed and helpful instructions and info about the house and area.

Great Property

The floor plan of the house allows a fair sized group to cook, eat, play games and relax and never feel crowded. The house was clean, kitchen well stocked. Would suggest a completely empty kitchen cabinet for food storage. Loved the prep space in kitchen. Lots of counter space allows several people to cook together. Would rent again.

Nice and cozy

House was clean and well stocked. There was lots of snow, which was great. Beds were all comfy. Loved the open floor plan, the game room and loft was awesome. We had a family get together for my moms 60th and there was plenty of room.

We had a great experience here at this cabin, very spacious, has everything you might need, great cabin if you have kids, full of games and entertainment, great parking space for at least 6 cars, awesome owner, aslnswered all our questions, called a few days before check in to see if we needed anything. The only thing that could be better was maybe a little more lighting in the patio, it was just a bit dark at night. But overall 9/10. Definitely would recommend and book again

Family Labor Day Trip

Fun cabin for 4 tweens and teens. Games in loft were a hit. Big open floor plan with plenty of space for 10 of us. Ben was easy to communicate with.

Why they chose this property

We love the layout of this house, although we spend most of the time on the back deck in the summer. While it's right off the highway, it feels secluded (and there's no road noise) and provides a great spot close to skiing, Stanislaus River and all kinds of activities

What makes this property unique

Lots of room! 4 equal sized bedrooms (so no fighting over who gets which one) as well as a loft bedroom upstairs with two queen beds and two twin loft beds
