Fabulous place to stay and the location in Fort Collins was awesome! Host was very responsive to our needs. We hope to stay here again when we visit family in the area.
Such a lovely house, and a great location for walking to restaurants, book stores, local theaters, and more. The Parlour was a quiet spot for meditation or yoga, and for people-watching in front of the library across the street. Many thanks to Griffin for getting the gas fireplace up and running. We enjoyed meeting Griffin, Carley, and Wayne. Everyone was so hospitable.
Loved the location and historic nature of the house. Great stay!

Sometimes the press on business during the season keeps us from responding to reviews of our VRBO property, The B H McCarty House, at 218 Peterson Street, Fort Collins CO. Please know that we read for thoughtful reviews that you have left with much appreciation. We hope to be your host again sometime in the future. Thank you.

Great home, location, hosts! Everything was terrific - access to front and back doors, parking, etc. Nicely renovated baths and kitchen in an older, classic home.Would recommend and return!
We had a nice 4-night stay here during CSU family weekend. Walkable to Old Town and CSU. Very clean with a well equipped kitchen and comfortable rooms. Convenient off street parking. Griffin was really welcoming and helpful upon our arrival.
We stayed at B.H. McCarty House over Christmas and it was a wonderful experience. The highlights include the comfy beds, the location near Old Town with great shops and restaurants all decorated for the holiday, and the fully equipped kitchen with everything we needed to cook a Christmas dinner. Griffin was a very communicative and helpful host. He even put up a Christmas tree for us. We’ll definitely be back!

About the host
Hosted by Griffin Carpenter
The Jean and Wayne Carpenter family purchased the property in 1980. Wayne used it for his professional offices until 2015. After Wayne retired, the family decided to return the property to the duplex it had been designated before 1980. Ironically, the house was built in 1902 but the Carpenter family are only the third owners. We have undertaken many renovations and placed the house on both the National Register of Historic Places and the Fort Collins Local Landmarks registry. The interior woodwork was completely stripped and restored to its natural beauty. Modifications have been made to make the apartment comfortable and homey. The whole place was weatherized to make it more energy-efficient and pleasant. The roof was replaced with materials similar to the original. The brickwork has been retucked as has the stone foundation.
Why they chose this property
The property is centrally located within the Old Town area of Fort Collins and near Colorado State University, several breweries, museums, the Max transit terminal, the Bustang terminal, and a wonderful selection of restaurants and pubs. Art galleries, Walrus Ice Cream, specialty shops, and boutique clothing stores dot the area. In summer, concerts are held in the Old Town Plaza.
What makes this property unique
Stay in a historic property while you enjoy all the amenities of Fort Collins and Colorado State University!
