The location is ideal for summer or winter. (Okemo 2 miles away Buttermilk Falls, golf etc 3 miles)
The quintessentially Vermont town of Ludlow (about 4 miles) offers great local shops, a fully-stocked supermarket, drugstore, hardware store, bike shop, wine shops and fantastic restaurants.

The beautiful and historic town of Woodstock is a short 25 mile drive, and you can stop at the brewery and get a sampler of the different word famous Long Trail ales and maybe enjoy lunch or dinner there right next to at a murmuring brook. . The renowned Weston Playhouse Theater is even closer at just 10 miles. Weston is worth a visit by itself.

Winter - It's virtually impossible to beat this home and this location for great winter activity and relaxation. From the winter wonderland that the lake and surrounding area becomes, to some of the most amazing skiing in all of Vermont, you'll find it all close by. Okemo's newest lodge, Jackson Gore, is just 2 miles away and connects with other Okemo lodges via a network of 121 trails & glades, 667 acres of terrain and a vertical drop of 2,200 feet ... the most in southern Vermont. Okemo is reliable to always have fantastic grooming and is known for “the best in family fun”. If you are an extreme skier and need a challenge go to nearby Killington.

Great location to explore Vermont. We enjoyed having a campfire and using the dock to fish and kayak & canoe. As others have mentioned the house could use a deep cleaning. Be aware of a bear and raccoons that can get into the trash.

I get the hint. Since it is end of the season and we have hosted a lot of guests almost uninterruptedly, I believe the house could use a little overhaul.

Beautiful, calm spot and well set up to make for a fun weekend with the family. We were two couples with infants and the place met all our needs easily. Do being lake shoes as the bottom is a little muddy.

Property was a great location! We kayaked to the waterfall and saw a good deal of nature during our week including hummingbirds, ducks, blue heron and one morning a beautiful bear outside the window! Enjoyed grilling and playing games on the deck. Made a fire in the fire pit for s’mores one night with a beautiful almost full moon in the sky above! We were close to all the places we wanted to visit. Lots of sights to see…Woodstock, Sugar Bush farms, Vermont Gorge and VINS was excellent. Local restaurants very good too! The Coleman Brook Tavern was especially enjoyable. The living room chairs were a bit uncomfortable for seniors but other than that accommodations very good. The cleaning women forget to tell the host she used the last kitchen garbage bag but host ordered them as soon as I mentioned it and we received them promptly. More than enough space for the four of us. Could have been a bit cleaner but it being a Lakehouse it was fine. It was great to have a dishwasher & a washer & dryer. The a/c in the master bedroom cooled off the living room area since it’s placed to do that and we appreciated that on the humid days! All in all we had a wonderful week together at the Lakehouse.

My family loved our stay for our ski vacation to Okemo. This house was spacious and inviting and just 5 minutes from Okemo. We loved that it had a washer and dryer and a fireplace - especially since we arrived during an ice storm and arrived soaking wet after skiing that afternoon! The kitchen had everything we needed, having 2 1/2 baths made getting ready in the morning so much faster and easier, and we had plenty of space to spread out. We would definitely stay again on future ski trips!

About the host

Hosted by Ursula Middel

Host profile image
I love skiing, biking, hiking and water sports. I live in Long Island, where I do boating and biking in the summer. I grew up in Germany but have been in the States for many years.

Why they chose this property

I fell in love with the quiet spot on the lake, where I can look out on the water.from the dining room, living room, kitchen and even the shower and enjoy the ever changing scenery.

What makes this property unique

The location is great in all season, and the house is very comfortable even when occupied by a lot of people. In the winter period we have had at times 10 people in the house (mostly ski instructors) and yet it works well with the kitchen etc.

Special amenities: Whirl tub, two tables for eating, two refrigerators, 2 coffee makers, deck, dock, backyard large enough to play ball; (don't worry about the ball, you can fish it out of the lake, the shore is shallow). Downstairs play area has ping-pong table, games, chairs, refrigerator and extra bathroom.

WINTER: There are 5 to six parking places next to the house, but in winter conditions, if you do not have a four wheel drive, leave your car in the parking space next to the road on top of the fence as a precaution. We have a local contractor to plow and sand, but conditions change and the little road (Denardis Rd.) that goes down to the lake from Rt. 100 is very steep.

SUMMER: We put in a modern dock for launching the boats and recently added a boat rack.
Our deck has a beautiful view of the lake, equipped with two benches, outdoor table with umbrella, plenty of chairs, BBQ and electric grill..
There is a fire pit at the lake where you can roast marshmallows in the evening.

If you have an electric car you can charge it in the driveway. We have a convenient outside plug at the house. (Low fee, honor system.)
