Vintage Montana Lakefront Cabin Retreat - Enjoy Big Sky Land on the water!
This is a vintage 1960's Montana cabin renovated to include many modern day conveniences without losing the rustic charm of days gone by. The property has a nice wooden dock allowing easy access to the water as well as a place for boats and other watercraft to drop off or pick up guests. The water is as pristine as it gets and offers a gradual slope to allow for kids to play or catch crawdads. The pictures do this property a much better service than this description. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Great property on beautiful lake, everything you need
The pictures don't do the property justice,!
Just beautiful, everything was squeaky clean and well stocked. Perfect lakeside cabin for a relaxing time at a picturesque lake. Would highly recommend staying here
We all really loved the property and are planning a return for next year. Jon made communication and check-in very easy, the house was spotless and as described. We spent the days on the deck and in the water soaking it all in.
Our family (mom, dad, 3 adult children, 2 spouses & one grandbaby) stayed for 4 days/nights. WE WISH IT COULD HAVE BEEN A WEEK!!
We have not been ALL together for 5 years so this was so looked forward to. The house is not big, but well laid out. 3 separate bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, AND a bunk house with a queen bed.
All the room we needed. The kitchen is a good size and well equipped. I brought many things for cooking that I did not need, so ask the owners if they have it there - I bet they do:).
The house stayed SO cool all day, even with 30 + degrees outside, and the nights cooled as they do in the mountains.
The front deck looks out over the lake and has a lovely bistro table that we had 7 around no problem. Also a good size outdoor couch and two reclining chairs. All very comfy.. We pulled our boat from southern Alberta down as we chose this rental for the purpose of water sports. We were not disappointed. We were usually the only boat on the lake - and the kids took full advantage of the great weather, and water. The public dock ramp is 3 minutes away to launch your boat.. The dock system at the rental is great. A boat slip for your boat (make sure to bring bumpers) and lots of sitting room and space to put skis, boards, foils, and wetsuits (not that we really needed these) .
There is a big lawn space with two swing benches and 4 adirondack chairs. LOTS of space to play games (corn hole provided), we brought our frisbee game, and spike ball).
Hosts were awesome and answered all our question quick.
Our vacation was SO good. All the kids wanted to stay longer, and have asked that we book to go back next year!!
If you love water sports, being RIGHT at and on the lake, this is perfect. Don't hesitate to book - just not the week we want:)
This was a great place to stay! Everything was clean, and there was a good supply of dishes and supplies in the kitchen. This was helpful since we did a lot of cooking here during our stay. This is a perfect place for large families to stay. Lots of games available too. We hope to come back!
Another great week enjoying the family and the property. This was our second time at this location. The property is very well maintained and the owners are very accommodating. The cabin is roomy, clean and well stocked. There were brand new docks installed that really added to our boating experience. It is a real down to earth place that we are looking forward to returning to!
We were very impressed. Surprisingly spacious. Clean. Everything available that you may have forgotten. Great support from the owner. Excellent view and access to one of the most clean and beautiful lakes in the NW. 5+ thumbs up!
This was the perfect place for my dad and I to go on vacation for some R and R. My Dad is disabled and this house being all on one level met his needs. We sat out on the deck and looked at the lake every day together, as our thoughts and worries drifted away and the nature sounds, crystal clear lake and Mountain View’s swept us away.
The lake is peaceful, not much boat traffic and great fishing. Crystal clear and clean water. Fun for swimming, SUP-ing or going in pedal boat. You can also rent a boat. Jon is amazing - available by text for any questions and he seeks to make your stay above and beyond your expectations. He asked me what board games my dad and I liked and had them available when we arrived!!! The house is fully stocked with anything you could possibly need- Goggles, cooler, well-equipped kitchen, games, TV in closet on table to roll out if need be, extra blankets etc. It is an ideal setting for a large family as it sleeps many people. Very comfortable layout and fun lakeside decor. Huge yard. All sorts of fun critters to gaze at- birds, deer, loons! I could go on and on at how special this place is. We hope to come back soon! Thank you to Jon and his wife for their A+ hospitality and for making this Jem of a cottage available for rent. :)

About the host
Hosted by Jon T Mohatt
My wife Courtney and I (Jon) moved back to Montana with our three kids when I retired from the military in 2014. When we had the chance to purchase the family cabin from Courtney's parents and keep it in the family we didn't hesitate. It's truly our love to spend time here and we hope you do too.
Why they chose this property
Although we just purchased this cabin in 2017 it has been in the family since the 70's when it was purchased from a local physician (Dr. Keller) by Courtney's grandparents. We took great care when we renovated it to keep the original character and the small touches that will always remind us all the great memories. We truly hope you enjoy the vintage feel and seclusion that our cabin provides.
What makes this property unique
There is nothing better than being on the water and having that first cup of coffee on the deck in the morning as you breath in the fresh mountain Montana air.
