Caribo Bay is a private, open-air, solar-powered villa in the jungle. Located a half-mile from the town of Wesley down a spicy dirt road in a small area of Dominica called "Eden", it is easy to see how this place can be mistaken for paradise. Surrounded by a cedar forest and with views for miles from a shaded veranda, this property offers true seclusion and comfort in a tropical wonderland you will find no place else.
The villa's 1,200 square feet accommodates up to four people, with a queen bed in the master bedroom and two twin beds in the second bedroom. The property has a washing machine, gas stove, and fridge.
As Caribo Bay is a little more adventurous than most properties, guests should understand the following: - The villa is remote - there are no neighbors within a half mile of the property. The road down from the town of Wesley requires a 4WD vehicle. - Caribo Bay is an open-air villa in the jungle, so it is not a sterile environment. Bugs are minimal due to the constant ocean breeze, but creatures (lizards, frogs, birds, bats, spiders, etc. – all harmless, most cute) occasionally come inside to visit. - The villa runs on 100% renewable solar power (using US plugs), including a hot water system installed in 2022. You will want to ensure you turn lights off when not using them and at bedtime. - Internet is reliable but metered in our remote location - it will shut off for the month once the data limit is reached. For this reason, we ask everyone in your party to download all data-heavy things (movies, music, and streaming services) before your arrival. Doing this ensures internet is available for all other uses (work, regular browsing, emails) as well as for other guests. A family with three teenagers and two working parents did not hit the data limit after staying for a month, so there is hope for everyone. 4G cell phone service is also available at the location.
If you are good with and/or excited about the above, you will be rewarded with magical views that never get old - you may even see whales, sea turtles, or the endangered Jacko parrots!
Note: Airport construction is active on the northern part of Dominica. Accessing this villa requires driving across a construction area. While there is typically no or minimal construction activity near the villa, you may occasionally hear some noise when construction is active nearby.

We had an amazing stay on this property! It was the best way to round out our trip. There is lots of privacy, a fully stocked kitchen, a very comfy bed and the most wonderful breeze! Communication from RJ was fantastic and included lots of Recs! The drive in is -wild- at first, but you get used to it. Def would stay here again, and def recommend that you stay here as well!
When we weren't out exploring this beautiful part of the island, we spent our time on the deck at Caribo taking in the stunning views of the coastline, the waves and the ever-changing light. Absolutely magical.
Poz, the property manager, met us in Wesley and kindly escorted us to the villa. The track in is all part of the adventure! We caught a glimpse of two jacos flying across the track late one afternoon as we returned from town. These brilliant green parrots with a red neck patch are endangered and can only be found in Dominica.
RJ and Janelle responded to our questions quickly. They offered lots of suggestions about where to go (with great maps), where to shop and where to eat. They provided some grocery basics and freshly frozen local fish when we arrived...what a nice touch!!
We had a wonderful stay and would recommend Caribo to anyone wanting to get away from it all in Dominica.
Staying at the house at Caribo Bay is definitely not your typical stay but its more of an experience. I came to Dominca looking for an experience and the house was in line with an adventure that i wont forget. Came in July so it was a bit warmer than expected but nothing to terrible. The drive to the property was slightly challenging but all a part of the experience. The lush natural garden surrounding the grounds was amazing. The view from the balcony was mind blowing. The location is in the heart of nature itself so keep that in mind if you arent truly a nature lover.
