It is a beautiful house in a delightful setting. The owners gave us such a warm welcome and could not have done more to make us feel at home. We had a restful week exploring the wonderful area and the children enjoyed returning back to the lovely garden to play badminton or table tennis.
Well appointed gite in a very quiet hamlet very close to Azay-Le-Rideau. The gite has been well renovated, has a large garden and is very weĺl equipped. The hosts were charming and helpful and although they lived next door, were very unobtrusive yet always available for advice/help. Would be very happy to come back again.
Patricia and Didier made us very welcome and are clearly proud of the gite they have created and rightly so. We could not fault a thing, spotlessly clean, and the property had everything you could possibly need for a comfy stay, even mozzy coils! We really loved the apple juice made from their own apples, nothing you can buy comes close. The garden is charming, lots of space for lounging, herbs to pick for cooking and we were able to take ripe cherries from their tree. There is plenty to do in the area and some great restaurants. Thank you again Patricia and Didier, we hope to return.
This was the most cosy and well equipped house we ever stayed in! So much care was taken to ensure we had everything we needed! Very tastefully renovated in a quiet little hamlet, near many, very beautiful places! We visited lots of them: castles of Ussé, Chinon, Azay, l'Islette, a true gem! A week wasn't long enough! We were only with the 2 of us but if you come with more people, take note that there is only one bedroom with a door and that you have to pass the (very beautiful) open space with 2 beds! The beds are of great quality, the insect screens in al the windows such a thoughtful addition!!! We thank Didier and Patricia for their hospitality and lovely gifts! It was a very hot week, but inside the house it stayed nice and cool!
Lovely, spacious house that comfortably accommodated five adults. It is extremely well equipped with tea towels, dishwasher tablets etc all provided. We especially enjoyed the outside space, eating out under the sail ok the patio and playing badminton and table tennis in the garden. The helpful owners have thought of everything!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay of one week. Hosts are next door and were very welcoming and friendly. Nonetheless, we were totally private. The house is extremely well equipped and lacks nothing.
We would have no hesitation in recommending.
We had a wonderful week in this beautiful house. Didier and Patricia are great hosts and made our vacation week to a great stay. The house is very complete and clean with comfortable beds, nice garden, even two bikes and table tennis table. Many things to do in the environment. We can really recommend l'Abeille bleu!

lovely stay with the family
We had a wonderful stay at The Blue Bee. The house has been lovingly restored and is equally beautiful and functional. Our hosts were welcoming, kind, and very helpful. We especially appreciated suggestions as to what to do with our children (10 and 13) in the region. The fortress and medieval village at Montbazon was a great success, as was the visit to the nearby and newly renovated chateau at Azay-le-Rideau. Would recommend without any hesitation!
We had a truly comfortable and peaceful week long stay here at L'Abeille Bleu. Didier and Patricia are lovely people and excellent hosts, we really appreciated the welcome. They have given much thought to equipping the property with everything you require for a perfect stay. The cottage is set in a rural area of peace and tranquillity, perfect for winding down but is also well placed for visiting the magnificent Chateau's, Vineyards and beautiful countryside in this region. Thank you. Trevor & Sue

We very much enjoyed our stay at The Blue Bee
The house was very nice and had everything necessary to ensure our comfort. We were lucky with wonderful weather so were able to enjoy the patio,wood-fired grill and loungers. While located in the countryside it was very convenient to major sites like Chateau de Villandry. Take note of Didier’s wonderful photos of local places and notice where they were taken while you travel about. Dicier and Patricia were wonderful hosts who gave us a local bottle of wine as well as their own apple juice and Patricia’s mirabelle preserves when we arrived.
We really enjoyed our stay and wished we could have stayed longer.
A beautiful gite in the heart of the Loire valley with Chateaus on the doorstep. Didier and Patricia were wonderful hosts, a package of local produce greeted us upon arrival.
The gite is immaculately clean and sympathetically renovated to a very high standard. It is spacious both inside and out, with various outdoor areas to enjoy the tranquility. There is excellent parking onsite and only a short car journey to both Azay-le-Rideau and Langeais, both beautiful towns. Would highly recommend if you are thinking of visiting the stunning Loire valley.
Dear Patricia & Didier, huge thanks for a fabulous stay in your beautiful holiday home. It really is very comfortable and has everything you need for a family holiday. We loved the sun terrace and made huge use of the garden for family games. It was a lovely area of the Loire to visit, with plenty of options for outings nearby. We enjoyed visiting the Chateaus and the numerous cycling routes nearby. We also enjoyed visiting the vineyards and loved your recommendation of the local one!! Thanks for your fabulous hospitality and we will recommend your house to our friends and family. We may well return........best wishes, Simon, Louise & Fraser.
This home was immaculate. The owners had thought of everything and all was of the best quality. The refurbishment and decoration had been done in the best taste. Extremely comfortable to return to after a day out cycling. Slept very well aa the beds were so comfortable.
Didier and Patricia are a lovely couple. I just wish I spoke enough French to have a longer conversation with them. It was convenient that they were just next door.
Highly recommended!
L'Abeille Bleue is a recently and lovingly renovated cottage in a quiet neighborhood just a short distance from the Azay-Le-Rideau castle. There is plenty to do in the area besides visiting the many beautiful castles, though. Biking, canoeing, kayaking, and the Doué Bioparc are just some of the possibilities. And you won't find kinder hosts anywhere. At one point during our stay I needed to see an eye doctor urgently and Didier drove me to the hospital himself. My family had a wonderful time and we look forward to returning some day.
What a lovely place to stay. Fabulous gite in a lovely rural setting, close to all that the Loire has to offer. Our incredibly welcoming hosts, Didier and Patricia, had thought of everything to make our stay perfect. From the lovely bottle of local wine and fresh apple juice to the basic necessities of dishwasher tablets and washing capsules, our every need was catered for! The cottage itself was extremely well appointed but maintained all the charm of its original self. The garden and shaded patio provided the perfect place to relax and unwind with a glass of wine at the end of a day visiting the many attractions of this beautiful region of France. We will definitely be returning again in the future.
Un très bon séjour.
Merci Didier et Patricia. Nous reviendrons à l'avenir.
Didier and Patricia are two marvellous people who have created a marvellous gîte. Its revealed stone, exposed beams and original floors create a beautiful environment, full of textures and shapes. This is complemented by modern kitchen and bathroom fixtures of the highest quality, and the superb wooden staircase and table in the kitchen. Everything is tasteful and delightful. The house is generously equipped: plenty of cutlery, towels, crockery, pans, chairs. Mosquito nets and blinds protected us effectively from heat and bites! The whole place was spotlessly clean - probably the cleanest gîte we have ever experienced in years of visiting France - and provided with cleaning materials to maintain that standard. Everything was provided to make the stay pleasant, easy and enjoyable. Our hosts gave us a warm welcome on arrival, and also maintained a discrete distance as we lived our parallel lives. The calm of the interior is matched by the peaceful surroundings: an excellent place to relax. Thank you for a superb experience!
Despite some unseasonal cold and wet weather and suffering from colds caught on the ferry from GB we really enjoyed our 2 weeks at L’Abeille Bleue. What made it so great was the warmth of our hosts Didier and Patricia, a most welcoming and generous couple. Didier was so concerned that we understood how the heating system worked (we really needed it!) that he came in twice to check that we understood it. And we also benefitted greatly from gifts of fruit (peaches, apples, figs) and vegetables from their potager. We went home with a large box of figs for jam picked only a few feet from the back door.
The cottage is a few minutes from Azay-le-Rideau and within easy reach of all the main Loire chateaux and other sites. The little settlement of Grand Vaujoint is very peaceful. We managed to sit outside when the sun appeared and could see that the shaded patio and garden would be great in the heat of summer. We walked several times on the small traffic-free roads around the cottage, which are virtually traffic-free. To cap it all we actually saw a blue bee on the wall by the patio!

Lovely house and excellent base Loire/Indre
L'abeille bleue is a wonderful house, beautifully equipped and tastefully decorated and furnished. The house is spacious for 4 people and has two superb bathrooms, large kitchen, beautiful bedrooms and even a living room too. The terrace area and garden right outside the kitchen are lovely and a real sun-trap. Didier and Patricia are very warm and welcoming hosts, and are on hand if there is anything you need at all during your visit. Nothing is too much trouble, if needed. They are discreet hosts, also.
Situated in a little hamlet, the location is very tranquil and restful. You can reach the town of Azay le Rideau in just a few minutes, as well as many places along the Indre river, and the Loire, Cher and Vienne rivers. Especially enjoyed visiting the Chateau d'Islette where you can hire a small rowing boat on the Indre. Further afield, Tours, Amboise are within easy reach.
L'abeille bleue is a perfect place to stay, and we would not hesitate to return. It is also an excellent base for exploring the area.
