The house was great for our group of 15. We enjoyed the flat yard and easy walk to the lake. The kids enjoyed the dock slide all week. We enjoyed this part of the lake as there wasn’t as much boat traffic as down near some of the marinas, but it was an easy boat ride to anywhere we wanted to go. The deck and dock railings definitely need upgrades, but overall this house was great and we would rent again. Pretty much as advertised.
We had a great time at this house! Lots of room for the family, and the kids enjoyed the games. The location of the boat launch and a gentle sloping backyard were huge bonuses.

We had a great time a knot 4 reel! Multiple families were able to share the space comfortably. We loved the back yard to the lake didn't have a steep slope. Made lots of good memories fishing off the dock and wished we had a longer stay!
Clean, spacious, well equipped home with scenic two level deck , for house AND dock. Enjoyed sunrises over the trees, bobbing by the dock in the perfect temp water. grilling out dinners on the deck , and hot tub star gazing. In short it was all that was promised PLUS sepctacular location.

We had a great time. The house is nice. Could’ve been cleaner. A couple of the frying pans need to be thrown out. We usually bring those but forgot this time.
The back porch/deck was not clean. It probably needs to be updated because it is hard to get the tables clean. The fire out was great and the dock was good. We could’ve used electric for fishing boats at the dock.
This house was great for my family. Communication with the host was great. The beds and baths were comfortable and roomy, the kitchen had everything we needed, the decks, hot tub, and fire pit were a hit with everyone, and the lakefront was lovely and peaceful. We had a great time. Everything was clean, with the exception of the deck furniture on the first floor, which could definitely use new cushions. The boat slip is right next door, so we were able to easily put our boat in the water. Everyone had plenty of space to gather or to step away and be alone for a bit with a book. The nearby town is cute and merits a trip for shopping and visiting with locals.
Some things to note apart from what is in the listing: the roads to get to the home are a bit treacherous, with plenty of blind curves, steep hills, one-lane roads, pets and deer crossing the road, etc., so I would not plan to arrive at night if you are not used to the area. It is also a bit dangerous to take a walk because of that (but worth it because it's so pretty). It is also easy to get lost on the water if you are not familiar with the river/lake. The wifi signal was okay/good, but a bit slow, especially if you have a lot of people on their devices. There is no cell service down there, so you need to rely on the wifi. The ice maker cannot keep up with a large family, so buy ice on your way in!
Ultimately, just a lovely vacation spot for a large group. We had a great time. Thanks for the great host!
We had 16 people of all ages celebrating Thanksgiving at this house. It was roomy and served our needs wonderfully. Just be very careful on the narrow mountain road if you are getting there after dark. Some folks didn't have great cell service, but we were warned of that, and we enjoyed unplugging. Everyone in the neighborhood and nearby town is extremely friendly. Great neighborhood to take walks. The lake is low this time of year, but we weren't there for water play. We had a wonderful time together.
This is our second time staying at this property and it’s wonderful. The yard is great for older adults. We were traveling with two people who have canes and they were able to make it down to the dock pretty easily. House was very clean upon arrival and the kitchen is well stocked! Great week with family!
Beautiful lake property for family Thanksgiving weekend
We enjoyed the layout and size of the house for our group of 12 family members. It was nice to have bedrooms and bathroom on the kitchen/main level for my elderly mother. The only drawback is there were many ladybugs upon arrival and had septic system issues on the last day before leaving.
The house was as advertised. The kitchen had all needed utensils, pots and pans. The thermostat is upstairs so the main floor gets very cold. The ladder on the dock is great. It is almost like stairs to get out of the water which made things much easier. The gentle sloping yard to the water was great compared to most places on the lake. The house and dock are a little dated but served our needs. We had a fantastic week!

No Problems / No Frills / Very Private / Awesome Location
While this review may point out a few negatives from our stay (1 week in July 2021) the overall experience was positive and the only true problem we had was dealt with immediately.
The house is recently rehabbed and the basics are covered for a decent sized group. The a/c is excellent, we had plenty of hot water, the hot tub was awesome and the lake is superb.
But if you are more than 10 people you will encounter some of the issues we did. Pay attention to the pictures: there will not be enough places to sit in the living room, at the dining room table, on the dock or around a fire. Plus the sleeping arrangements can become problematic.
Combined, the patios have 2 high tables with 4 stools each and there were 4 plastic chairs in the dock storage + a few random heavy wooden chairs. If you want to hang as a group on the patios or the dock or use the fire pit plan to move chairs around all the time.
If you need to use the bunk-room note that the beds are not nearly as nice / strong as the others and are essentially on top of each other. We had to make a last minute change to room assignments when we discovered trying to put an adult couple in a bunkroom bed just wasn't going to work.
There are minimal closets / dressers / bedside tables and we had to move some furniture around to make it work. There were exactly enough sheets, pillowcases and towels as we needed and the laundry facilities in the bunk room worked well.
The 2 showers upstairs are small and do not work for anyone over 5.5 feet tall or full figured. We had adults in these rooms but only kids used these and we rotated the adults downstairs to the 2 tub-shower combos. We were all family and this was fine but maybe not for others.
There's tons of parking. The email stated only 2 spots but the driveway can manage 4 cars and there is room for 4 more on the other side.
The kitchen is well equipped and having 2 refrigerators was awesome. Local grocery options are great.
Cleaning was adequate but full ashtrays greeted us outside and under the bunk room beds had not been vacuumed (potato chips!) and we had to replace 2 dead light bulbs.
The dock is starting to show its age and we had kid splinters most every day + the slide is inoperable without power for the pump. No umbrella for the dock table so expect full sun always.
No issues with the launch being next door. Very quiet almost all of the time and we felt safe / private at night.
Overall lots of fun and recommended.
We really liked the house. Not having any steps was a huge plus. The kids loved the slide and swimming off the dock. Skiing and tubing was nice because we could start and stop right at the dock. The only downside to being on fast water is the waves from the wakes. Glad there were platforms for our jet skis. We had 6 adults, 4 teenagers and 3 younger children. We did not feel cramped at all in the house. Highly recommend the house. The owner/manager was wonderful to work with. We've booked another of his houses for next year as this one was already booked. One thing to beware of is when you are docking your boat on the one side of the entrance (the side away from the boat ramp) is a 2 inch square post that scraped the fiberglass off our boat. We were docking and a wave turned the boat sideways and we scraped against the post. Less than $50 for the repairs once we got home.
Great location. No steps. Many bedrooms with king and queen beds. Kitchen well equipped. Plenty of bath towels. Close to marina for gas and ice cream. Dock was nice but did a little damage to pontoon boat from steel channel. Slide was nice for grandkids. Large dock area for hanging out. Great steps to get out of water for adults!
Our family of 14 had an amazing stay at Knot 4 Reel! Kitchen is fully stocked with everything you will need. The upstairs refrigerator was wonderful for the younger adults to store their drinks and snacks. The yard was perfect. Gentle slope for grandparents to go back and forth to the dock. We had someone deliver firewood so we were able to do a campfire every night. Cabin was clean when we arrived. We knew to bring all paper products so that was not a problem. We loved this house and vacation could not have been more perfect!!!! We want to come back next year but the summer months are already booked!
This place can sleep a lot of people and is great for large families or several families with children.(there is a huge bunk room with a 1/2 bath) The 2 other bedrooms upstairs each have their own full bath and porch. The location is excellent and the gentle slope of the lot beats climbing 100 steps or more. It was also a nice lawn to play bocci ball on.We had a small problem with the dock landing being under water since we stayed early in the season. This was corrected. The dock is covered and extra large so you can relax on the dock or in the water. It is in a busy spot so expect a lot of boat traffic and wakes which will rock your boat. We spent every evening around the bon fire pit with the family, drift wood is easy to collect and there is plenty of it. We did use the boat ramp, located right next to the lot which was easy to put in, but the drive down to it is a nail biter. We used the ramp off Wells Spring Dr (the state park beside Powell Valley Marina, behind the island) to haul out (1 mile staight drive to Highway 63). Saves our nerves. 10 minute boat ride to pull out. Same drive time.
The house was adequately furnished nothing fancy, and a little outdated, but everything worked. It also has a hot tub and covered back porch, which is great to sit on when rain showers come through. Spring Dock is just a 20 minute boat ride, we went there every day for ice cream and shop at G rides which has great wakeboards, clothing, and surf gear.
Had a great time at Knot 4 Reel with 6 adults and 8 kids - ages 2 - 13.
Pros:
- PLENTY of space. Lots of room for everyone.
- swimming off the dock was huge hit
- rented a pontoon from local marina and had a blast tubing on the lake
- hot tub was great for adults to relax in the evening
- kitchen had all the pots, pans, etc that we needed
- propane grill is large and able to cook a lot of food! This helped massively with dinner
- gentle slope to the water was a big deal for us because of small kids and grandparents who couldn’t move as well. It was easy to get to the dock and the yard is big enough for lots of fun games.
- upstairs Rec room was awesome for the kids. They spent most of the inside time up there.
- the fridge in the upstairs rec room was a big bonus. Kids had snacks and drink available and we needed the overflow room in the freezer.
- great view, secluded.
Cons:
- the only thermostat is upstairs and, because it was warmer upstairs the A/C would continue to run and make the downstairs freezing! Made it pretty uncomfortable in the house.
- many of the adults had trouble with the beds; they aren’t the most comfortable; especially the one upstairs that sank into the middle.
- poison ivy is everywhere in the yard. Multiple kids got it from playing. Make sure to watch for it and give showers immediately after being out.
- fishing was really slow (this could be user error! 😀)
- kitchen table has a stickiness to it and makes cars playing difficult. (Now we are getting nit picky)
Overall an awesome stay and great vacation! Hope to give these details to help others who are coming in the future. We would book this house again.
This space worked really well for 10 adults. We could comfortably seat everyone at the dining room table and between meals people could hang out all together at the table or the couches in the great room. Easy to break out into smaller groups in the game/TV room upstairs or bedrooms. Enjoyed being able to use the propane grill - really helped when trying to cook a nice meal for so many. Beds were generally rated as very comfortable. Kitchen has lots of plates, glasses, flatware, pots and pans. (Nonstick pans were heavily scratched, as expected) Also had coffee maker, slow cooker, hand-held electric mixer. A full service grocery was 20 minutes away - you will need to buy or bring all consumables such as trash cans, soap, sponges etc.

Elizabeth,
Thanks for the detailed illustration of this spectacular place. This new listing is a huge hit.
While we provide the dock, boat ramp, cabin full of linens & stocked kitchen, we keep the cleaning cost as low as possible by letting you bring the disposables and make up the beds.
We hope to see you all again. Thanks, John
