About this property
Lake Placid Hillcrest Haven - Sleeps 14 - 1 block to Main Street
Short Term Rental Permit # - STR-200118
This unique Lake Placid, Adirondack style home was built in 1915 as a year round home for a well-to-do family and shows it in the detail and quality of construction. Over the years it has been thoughtfully maintained and upgraded, while retaining virtually all of the original charm of a house of that era. As with many homes built in the early 1900's, it has many little nooks and cranies where you can grab some quiet time with a good book. It was purpose built to be a large comfortable Adirondack home for a large family and still is.
Details such as beautiful wood railings, built in book cases, a beamed ceiling in dining and living rooms and even skeleton key locks that work on many doors are all part of the experience. At the same time, upgrades, such as a new large master bath, enclosed wrap around rear porch with bay window, and granite kitchen counters have expanded the living area and comfort of this home. Your favorite quiet breakfast spot will be in a corner of that porch surrounded by windows. The deck with Adirondack style railing and the large (accommodates 6) spa you step into right off the deck is another favorite spot of our guests.
The location (one short block from the center of town - short walk to everything) is ideal for large groups and families in particular. At least a dozen restaurants, many shops, movie theater, Olympic skating arena, Mirror Lake and more are literally within a five minute walk. The kids can have as much freedom as you wish. The beautiful Lake Placid Resort golf course (45 holes with an outstanding links layout) is a three minute drive and great tee times are always available. Likewise, Whiteface ski area, Olympic ski jumping, bobsledding, and cross country venues are all within 10-15 minutes.
A fully equipped kitchen, woodstove in living room (wood supplied by us), five televisions, two VCR's, DVD, and wireless internet access make this a house ready to enjoy. Parking for 5 - 6 cars in our driveway and garage.
We have a caretaker in town who maintains the house and hot tub. He is also available to resolve any problems that may arise with the house.
A security camera located on our garage monitors the driveway.

Great and as advertised! This house is very spacious and rustic, and very walkable to downtown. We loved the hot tub and the large driveway for all of us to park.

Thanks for the great review!
We're glad you were pleased with the house.
Perfect family home for our family ski weekend. Welcoming and cozy. Large enough to gather together and yet there were some spots to sit back and relax. The Owner and Caretaker were helpful and quick to respond to any of our questions.
Bob was lightening fast communicator. His house was loacated perfectly for our friends ski trip. It comfortably fit 6 adults and 6 kids. The hot tub out back was a great foninsh for a day on the slopes. Walking distance to down town lake placid dining and shops. Loved our stay.

Thank you for your excellent review.
I actually arrived at the house for a visit today before the cleaning people started. I would like to thank you for the condition you left the house in. Most of our guest leave the house neat, but you left it so neat my initial impression was the cleaning people had already started cleaning. I wish there was a way to give you ten stars.
Best,
Bob
We were there for a wedding . We loved lake placid!! I think the house could use a bit more everyday supplies other than that it was an Awesome time.

Glad you had a nice stay and were pleased with the house.
We'll speak with the cleaning crew about everyday supplies for bathrooms and kitchen. While we don't list them as supplied in our listing, we do instruct our cleaners to leave two of everything (toilet paper, tissue boxes) in bathrooms and kitchen (paper towels and dishwasher pods).
Great place for a large group. Lots of rooms and hangout areas

Thanks for taking the time to review your stay. We're glad you were pleased with the house. You described perfectly what we love about the house. Plenty of space and quiet places to relax in.
And thanks for caring for the house. Our cleaning team has been in and found everything looking good.
We'd be glad to host you again.
Actually I had to call for some ice melt. The driveway was an awful mess and hard to drive up. We had to do considerable shoveling. There were no paper towels(not really a problem) but the drip coffee maker was NG. The Mr. Coffee needs to be replaced. The house was amazing, beautiful big rooms and plenty of space. The walk to Main Street was perfect. Despite the problem with the driveway the weekend was wonderful.

Thanks for taking the time to review your stay. Sorry about the ice/driveway issue. Our North Country caretaking people are not fans of salt/ice melt, so I'll make sure they leave some on the porch for guest. Coffee maker will be replaced.
Glad you were pleased with the house and location (it can't be beat).
Hillcrest was a great space to host our multi-generational family. The house is a bit rustic and can use some repairs but the space and location were great.
Thanks for choosing our house for your LP visit and taking the time to submit a review.
The location certainly is tough to beat.
We'd be glad to host you again!

Thanks for taking the time to review your stay.
This was a great place for us! Super convenient, comfortable, lots of space for gathering but also easy to get away if you need peace and quiet. Bob was very responsive, although we really didn't need anything -- everything was ready for us. Would definitely stay there again.
We were here for Ironman week, perfect location right in the middle of town w a short walk to everything. The house is on the older side which gives it that ADK charm

The location close to everything in town is one of top reasons we bought the house. Everyone of our guests loves it too. Make mine a Moose Island Ale.
About the host
Hosted by Bob DiMartino
Shirley and I are married 51 years and have 5 children. We own and operate a small family business together. We bought the house so we could all enjoy it year round (great golf in the Adirondacks is a well kept secret). As we have started to rent it, we have found a great deal of enjoyment in sharing it with the many wonderful people who have visited and loved staying at the house.
Why they chose this property
Before purchasing this house we enjoyed winter skiing and summer hiking & fishing in the Adirondacks with our family for many years. Finding great golf courses with easy access was a real bonus. We love the idea that we have a place we can enjoy year round. When we visited the area over the years we were always drawn to the village at night for dinner and relaxation. So a location in the village was important to us.
What makes this property unique
Built in 1915, the house is a large and comfortable family residence. It is ideally located because it is in the heart of the village. So whether we feel like a cozy weekend or a sporting day with nightlife, we are in the ideal location to quickly get around.
