This house is likely the best I have stayed in.

This home is exactly as it appears in the search; spacious, modern, very well appointed, great view and extremely clean. Working with the owner, Joel, was a delight. He responded to any questions quickly and gave us local suggestions.

Excellent house with AMAZING view over the jungle to the whale tail and gorgeous sunsets each night!!!The bedrooms each had their own A/C and controls so everyone was comfortable. Plus, no TVs was great; we did bring a portable projector but only used it once.The pool was perfect and got lots of use, along with the kitchen. Very private as the house is on top of a mountain, surrounded by jungle! Having howler monkeys in the trees in the mornings is an awesome wakeup call.Not 100% necessary but the last 200m of the drive is steep and unpaved. You can make with a car but we had a couple of Toyota Fortuner 4x4 and it was super easy.

Absolute Perfection

We are all so grateful for having such a beautiful place to call home while in Costa Rica. The views were impeccable. The sun set behind the mountain. Cooking in the kitchen was a chef‘s dtream. The AC was perfect in our rooms at night for sleeping. The pool was amazing especially lit up at night. Hearing the monkeys howling, toucans, sooooo many birds, the flowers, the jungle sounds: was absolute paradise. 10/10 would stay again!

Beautiful slice of Costa Rica

This was our first visit to the Southern Zone of CR. It is a spectacularly beautiful area! Joels house was great for our group which consisted of my husband and myself and four adult children in their mid 20's. It was somewhat daunting arriving in the dark after a 4.5 hr drive in from San Jose (stuck in traffic) but once we arrived, it was more than worth the effort! The driveway is steep, but the views are spectacular and the home is well appointed. Comfortable beds, plenty of towels, a well stocked kitchen and the added peace of mind of having Edgar provide security when we traveled during the day. Joel had many great recommendations for dining and activities and we thoroughly enjoyed each one of the recs that we tried from the various nearby beaches to the waterfall tour and a lovely dinner at Citrus in Ojochal.

Wonderful views from Aracari Villa

My family and I really enjoyed our 6 days in this incredible property to celebrate our 30th anniversary. It's a hike to get here from San Jose but worth the effort once you arrive. Tranquil! The owner (Joel), provided excellent intel on what do and best places to eat in the area. He was very accessible during our stay and was of great assistance in finding the Rancho Cielo restaurant. Only negatives are spotty wi-fi (especially when it rains). On our departure, we left a 4:30 am for San Jose and awoke to power outage due to downed power lines and fallen tree. We had to avoid several hundred meters of power line and the tree on our way down to main road in darkness but we made it. Another story we can tell about our time in CR. Looking forward to returning as the country and its people are fantastic.

Paradise in Uvita

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Joel‘s house. It is very well equipped and Joel was very helpful and responsive. The view is fantastic and you feel like you are in the middle of the forest with no neighbors for miles. Uvita was the perfect location for us, as it was halfway between Ojochal and Quepos. We rented two 4x4s and didn’t have any problem getting around. Joel also provided the services of Edgar to be stationed outside the home so there was absolutely no worry when we were away. Jeannette the cleaning lady did a fantastic job as well. One of the best (if not THE best) experiences we have ever had with a rental property! The kitchen was well stocked with a very nice welcome basket, the washer and dryer worked well, there are plenty of towels and beach supplies and the beds are very comfortable. The house is designed with natural ventilation which works perfectly and the pool was very enjoyable. We highly recommend this piece of paradise!

Magical Stay

We rented Aracari Villa for 6 nights in the middle of our Costa Rican holiday. Joel’s house is beautiful, spacious, with the most amazing views and every facility you might need. We arrived late at night due to a long drive and haven’t been aware of the beauty around us till we woke up the following morning. We absolutely loved everything about the house and didn’t mind 5km drive from the main road up to the house as we knew the views and seclusion are well worth it. The house is as practical as is beautiful with well equipped kitchen, laundry, good size pool and plenty of seating around the table and outdoor shaded areas. We worked online for some of the time and wifi was excellent. We settled into a routine of working and relaxing in the house till 3.00PM and then going to the beach and early dinner. When we arrived Joel explained that we would need to let his neighbour Edgar know when we were going out so he could come and look after the house while we were out. This was precautionary as opportunists might be tempted during busy Christmas period and at first we felt this would require too much forward planning but it really worked in our favour as it meant we had to settle into a daily pattern. Edgar was incredibly nice and helpful and we felt very safe with him minding the house while we were out. We were so fortunate to be close to beaches, supermarkets and great restaurants with Uvita beach being closest and best, we ended up running, walking, swimming and sunset watching there most days. Joel sent us tide times so we could plan our swims ahead, it was very useful to have. Supermarket is 10 mins drive and we found everything we needed in the bigger BM. We tried a few restaurants Joel recommended but by far the best was Scala, we ended up going there twice and plan to stop for lunch on our way back from Drake Bay to San Jose, the food and staff were amazing. We did a snorkelling tour with Pacific Expedition, only 7 of us and had an incredible experience, we were very lucky to see the whales, dolphins and swim with turtles. Communication with Joel was exemplary, he was very quick to respond with all the necessary information. We can’t recommend the house enough. For us it really worked as we stayed in hotels before and after, moving from place to place and it was so nice to settle in such amazing place surrounded by nature and close to all we wanted to do.

Une villa dans la jungle !!

Cette villa est très bien conçue. Très ouverte vers l’extérieur et très lumineuse, cette villa permet de profiter pleinement du paysage et des vents rafraichissants qui soufflent du Pacifique. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié le fait qu’il est toujours possible d’être à l’extérieur mais en demeurant à l’ombre. La conception à ce sujet est très bien pensée. Les pièces de la villa sont grandes et bien meublées, et le mobilier est de qualité et confortable. Les équipements de la villa sont complets et excellents. La piscine est grande et très facilement accessible. Un point fort : La ventilation naturelle est fantastique partout dans la villa et la climatisation n’est vraiment pas nécessaire. La villa est très bien située, entourée par la jungle, avec aucune autre habitation en vue, seulement le Pacifique. La faune est abondante autour de la maison, et nous avons vu de nombreuses espèces d’oiseaux, des singes hurleurs et des singes capucins, des agoutis et des coatis et un jaguarundi. L’accès à la villa est facile bien qu’un 4x4 est nécessaire pour les 300 derniers mètres de chemin. Sinon, l’accès à la route principale se fait via une jolie route pavée de 5 km. Uvita et tous les services est à moins de 10 minutes. La situation de la villa est très centrale pour découvrir la Costa Ballena. Finalement, les communications avec Joel, le propriétaire, se sont avérées faciles et efficaces, et toujours rapide. Il a été d’une grande aide et nous le remercions.

Costa Rica Uvita in August

The house is beautifully designed and well-built. The owner is trustworthy and makes every effort to facilitate our time in his house, including hiring someone to keep the house safe when we are away. House-keepers are perfectly trained, reliable, fast and know the house. Costa Rica in the summer is winter, which brings rain, usually at the end of the day. We would leave for excursions in the morning to avoid the rain. And it was perfectly fine! On the negative side, I would only mention some interruptions of the Internet; but this has nothing to do with the house or landlord (Internet is perfectly installed in the whole house), but depends on Costa Rica's electricity disconnections, which sometimes happen for 1 minute, or 5 or more on Sundays! This is a FIVE STAR vacation in a FIVE STAR house in Costa Rica...

First family vacation since covid started

This home is beautiful, inside and out. The views are amazing. The owner was easily accessible, prompt with responses to questions, and has a great knowledge of the area (so good suggestions for food, activities, etc). The country felt very safe to be in during covid.

Absolutely spectacular

This house was an absolute dream! You have the accessibility of everything you want - amazing restaurants, equipped grocery stores, deserted beaches - while feeling like you are tucked in the jungle. Unreal house and experience 🙌

We stayed for an extended time in the house. We wanted an authentic experience of Uvita. The house is immaculate. Modern. Clean. Airy. Bright. Open living space that opens to a beautiful deck, pool, and view of Ballena. We prepared food in the kitchen everyday, shopped in Uvita and Dominical, and were welcomed into the neighborhood by neighbors and locals. Close to multiple amazing beaches, surfing, and restaurants. The owner is very responsive, kind, and generous with great recommendations. Truly an amazing experience!

Great place to unwind

The house is beautiful as everyone else states. We all loved it. The view is unbeatable, the kitchen was well equipped, the sheets were soft. What I want to mention above all else is that after I, unfortunately, had a serious accident on an ATV (more on that in a minute), Joel, the property owner was very concerned and supportive. Even though we never met face to face, he helped me a lot, and I really appreciated it very much. Regarding the ATV tour, it’s long and tough, and probably not for beginners, such as myself. On our tour, there were 3 accidents including myself. Luckily, no one else was seriously injured, but could have been. I just feel the need to include this as a warning since it’s on the list of recommended activities and wished the ATV guides addressed this with honesty before the tour. But the house.... is great.

Perfect Villa near Uvita

We've stayed in many vrbo properties over the years and this place was up there with the best. Really good outdoor space with unbelievable views. Only a short drive to Uvita and just as easy to get to Dominical. Mama Toucans was the best food shop/organic market we found in all of Costa Rica so we were in Dominical almost daily. The property has total privacy with no other houses in sight, no noise either, apart from Jungle sounds! Whenever I stay in vacation rentals there's always some things about the place that start to annoy me, but this place was so well designed, there is really nothing that I could fault. In fact, it was this very house and that inspired us to get a place abroad. Thank you Joel for making our stay so special!

Beyond gorgeous!

We just got back from a magical 8 days at this jungle villa. It was stunning on all fronts. The layout, the kitchen, the privacy, the decor......all beyond gorgeous. Mercedes was incredible. Always available for our questions. Always making suggestions when asked. She understood exactly the type of vacation that we were looking for and recommended restaurants, hikes, etc. She told us about “local” beaches that were basically secluded. We felt totally looked after. The location is close to Uvita which was fantastic. Albeit, a bit of a hike up the hill. But well worth the drive. Thank you Joel. Thank you Mercedes. I will be recommending your gorgeous house to everyone back home. And hopefully booking it for next year.

Joel's House in Uvita is Breathtaking..When you arrive it is Mind blowing and that never changes the whole time you are here.We spent 8 days here and everything you could think of has been provided. Amazing accommodations and view

The location is great, 10 minute down to the a beautiful beach. The property is amazing, secluded and simply beautifully constructed. All the room, the kitchen and living room face the bay. You are in the middle of nature! The property has been properly build, windows with screens, openings near the roof to allow air, keeps cool even if hot outside. The kitchen is ample, the pool is beautiful! There are many good restaurants and beaches in the area and the owner if incredibly helpful and attentive.

Amazing modern house with spectacular views

This house is an amazing architecturally designed home. Situated on a hill overlooking the jungle and the whale’s tail on the coast. Amazing views and wildlife such as toucans, howler monkeys, wild pigs, and more. Mercedes, the local concierge, was amazing. She arranged our tours to the waterfalls, zip line tours and in home dining. She checked in everyday and was extremely knowledgeable about the area. We can not say enough about the house. Lovely bedrooms with comfortable furniture and refreshing pool. Sliding doors that open to create an indoor/outdoor experience. Joel, the owner, offered great advice and was easy to contact. I highly recommend this house if you are looking for a luxurious vacation with easy access to local tours and dining. We hope to return again! Thanks Joel and Mercedes.

Luxury nestled in nature with a spectacular view

This villa is the perfect balance of luxury, tranquility, comfort and privacy while being surrounded by nature. Listen to the calls of birds and monkeys. enjoy the view of the whale's tail. All while you enjoy a lazy nap on the couch or a dip on the pool. Turn off the lights and see the stars. I'm a cook so i also enjoyed cooking in the nice appointed kitchen and the grill on the deck. Beaches and water falls are all accessible 20-30 minute drive. I love this place and area, and i can't wait to come back.

Amazing view and an Incredible Home

My wife and I have stayed at numerous homes throughout Costa Rica and none have had a view like this. We were lucky to be one of the first to stay at this home and I cannot say enough about the quality of the finishes. The pictures do not do it justice. The property is very private with no neighbors which adds to its appeal. We will definitely be back!!
