Located on the shore of Mirror Lake and just one mile from Main Street in Highlands is Mirror Lake Red Door Guest House. Our guest cottage is a cozy cottage that has been recently remodeled with all the amenities you need for your visit to Highlands. Our den features a wood burning fireplace with a gas starter. Our bedroom overlooks beautiful Mirror Lake with breath taking views. Our kitchen has a gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, coffee maker, china service for 6 and flatware service. Our cottage also comes complete with a washer/dryer. Flat screen televisions are located in the den and bedroom with cable service. Wifi is also in the house so you can stay plugged in if you like. Our cottage has a nice deck located on the side of the house with gas grill, outdoor seating and a small table. Our deck has beautiful views of Mirror Lake. All of this and just one mile from Main Street!

This is a great place to stay for a few nights. Right on Franklin it was easy to find and close to all happenings in Highlands.

Very clean! Great view. Tv didn’t work all weekend but owner tried to fix issue. Not a fancy place but had most everything we needed. Best part was visiting Highlands for the first time. Great restaurants and shopping. We visited Cashiers and Lake Toxaway saw beautiful waterfalls!

Perfect for a weekend trip

This cabin was exactly what we were looking for in a quick weekend trip. It was exactly as described on a relaxing portion of Mirror Lake. The cabin was clean, well stocked, and conveniently located to downtown Highlands and multiples hiking trails. We enjoyed our stay!

The location is great and the size is just right for 2. However, we had to leave early due to mold/mildew smell. We have a small place on a lake and understand that this can happen, but if it is maintained properly it can all but be eliminated. We noticed a damp rid but it had not been changed out in some time. We were only able to stay the one night, which in all fairness is an expensive one night stay. Not sure if the owners would be willing to comp us one night??

Thank you for your review. I appreciate your feedback. Maintaining a dwelling on a lake is challenging. I replaced all the Sheetrock and flooring during the remodel in 2018 to try and eliminate any moisture issues. I think the fact that I winterize my houses from December 1- April 1 may have contributed to an issue. The previous guest did NOT mention an issue so not sure. Neither did the guest before that. I will personally check out the dwelling to see if I on nerve an issue or not.

Anniversary trip

My wife and I stayed here for our 20 year anniversary. It was great. Mirror lake is right off the back deck and is so peaceful. It’s also located close to some great trails and waterfalls. Downtown is only a mile away with some great restaurants. We would stay again for sure.

Thank you for your review. As you can imagine having a house directly on the shore of a lake can lead to unique challenges. We change our air filters every 60 days. Our proximity to the dam that provides that soothing sound of running water also creates moisture that adds to the coolness of our location. Please come again.

We love Highlands, and this location was perfect. Close enough to town, but distant enough to get away from the crowds. It's a bit worn inside, but that lends to the woodsy mountainy vibe we were looking for. Would stay again!
