About this property

THE TROUT HAVEN/MOUNTAIN VIEW at Yellowstone

The Trout Haven/Mountain View at Yellowstone is self-contained with a fly-fishing theme, electric fireplace in the living area, large dining room table that seats 6. One of the only cabins with a King bed and 2 queens, crisp linens, towels, a SMART TV (must have your own access codes for Netflix and the like). WIFI access, a complete fully-stocked kitchen with refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, range, washer & dryer, coffeemaker, coffee and teas, spices, an outdoor gas grill and a wonderful covered patio for relaxing after a day of fishing, hiking, horseback riding or rafting on the Yellowstone River. Restaurants and local shopping are within ten minutes driving distance and Chico Hot Springs Spa & fine restaurant are a half hour away. The new Yellowstone Hot Springs are scheduled to open in early 2019 and located just 4 miles from the cabin.

This Yellowstone cabin is a delightful place from which to navigate your Yellowstone National Park vacation, and you can even walk to the park directly from our driveway, only (approx) 300 yards away. Enjoy a BBQ on the patio, a marshmallow roast at the fire pit or a relaxing stroll down our rural road, away from the noises of the city.

Just under 48 miles to Livingston, and 1 1/2 hours from Bozeman Airport, the location is convenient yet very private. If you need additional space we do have other vacation rentals on the same property as well – just drop us a note or a quick call. Feedback, both in our guest book and online, for our cabins have been consistently wonderful.

We do occasionally see bears, mountain lions, wolves, bison and rattlesnakes on the property and we frequently have deer and elk - especially in the spring and fall. The property does have exterior cameras to for the protection and safety of our property and guests. Many times the elk will eat right outside the patio and bed down for the day. Please do not approach or feed any of the wildlife. You should always maintain 25 yards distance between elk, deer & bison and 100 yards from bears, wolves and mountain lions.

Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Please start a load of towels (do not overload the washer though). Also, run the dishwasher and put away the dishes, please.
Trash must be removed and taken to either the dump location at the Gardiner airport or the green bins at Tom Miner - just past Yankee Jim Canyon as you exit the canyon - to your left.
Ensure all windows are closed and lights turned off.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Parking is on the asphalt behind the cabin. Do not park on the grass.
The garage is prohibited from use. Guest code will not work for garage door(s).

We loved this property! Located just a few minutes away from the Roosevelt Arch, and off a dirt road from which we viewed multiple herds of elk and pronghorn every time we drove down it. Especially loved the day when the herd moved onto the actual property itself and we were able to view the elk from our windows. This is a quick 15 minute drive from Gardiner. Beds were very comfortable, all necessary pots/pans and amenities available for cooking. Quiet and comfortable despite having other cabins nearby. Recommend Wild West Rafting for white water rafting on the Yellowstone River, which flows next to the property. Note that garbage needs to be disposed of off of the property, so add a few minutes on to your time if leaving to fly out in the morning. Highly recommend!

Spacious Yellowstone Cabin

Wonderful cabin about 5 miles down a dirt road from the entrance to Yellowstone NP and the great town of Gardiner. The cabin is spacious, clean, has an abundance of amenities - all working and modern. Huge windows show off the mountain views and the river. Wake up to elk strolling along the grounds each morning.

Overall good stay. The coffee maker and ice machine didnt work. The lighting needed to be better. The only other issue was the distance we had to take the trash off.

Great little place

Quiet, very clean, had the basic essentials for cooking, which was always nice as in oil, salt, pepper, coffee. Very much appreciated that. I had a couple questions and the host messaged me back very promptly. and was very informative on her answers. We enjoyed the place. Great views. One thing I would say was there is no cell service so make sure you screenshot to your check in instructions before you get there. That was one thing I did not do..

The only negative thing was the gravel road to access the cabin was quite rough to drive on. However we are aware that is not in their control. So overall great property and would stay again!

Trout Haven

Had a wonderful stay at Trout Haven. Spent three full days exploring the wonders of Yellowstone and had three very long days. It was great to come back late in the day to our comfy accommodations. Had a herd of elk who frequented the grassy area just outside the cabin and by the end of the week had a beautiful snow covering the tops of the mountains. Trout Haven was clean, fully equipped and very comfortable. Would definitely come back on our next trip to Yellowstone.

Cabin was clean with a pretty view. The drive to the cabin was rough and dusty. No trash pickup.

Clean and a great place to stay. Enjoyed seeing all the elk in the area. Need to provide place to put trash. Having to drive 3 miles to dump your trash.

Owner is very unprofessional! Rude and Passive Aggressive

I have never left any business less than a 5 star review. The owner/manager Tammy was very unprofessional. 1. There was a note on the machine washer (included in the amenities) saying that she had ordered a new one on 6/30/19 as it was broken. Our arrival was 7/7/19. Tammy had a week to email or text us & let us know so we could have done laundry at previous cabin. On 7/7 we asked if she had an alternate washer that we could please use. I understand that things break, but these are some of her responses to my wife: “Listen I apologize. It’s out of my control. You can get it done quicker at the laundry mat...If it was under my control... the last guest wouldn’t have ruined it by having the machine overflow and breaking the machine....” another text from Tammy “I’ve had to do laundry on vacation. It takes literally at the most two hours”. Well, I’ve done laundry on vacation too, but the SPECIFIC reason we picked this cabin & spent a large amount per night was for proximity & amenities. Actually, with 2 loads, it took us almost 4 hrs, so we had to cancel visiting Yellowstone Lake/West Thumb. My wife & Tammy were texting each other evening of 7/7. Tammy actually texted my wife at 5:32 AM the next morning telling her the broken machine was an inconvenience for her too. Which owner texts her vacationing guests at 5:32 AM to get the last word in? 2. The ice machine didn’t work. We let her know as we had put down a damage deposit. Her response “The icemaker is not broken. There’s a reason why it’s not hooked up. And that’s because most guests don’t know how to use it”. Hmm, I think most people can operate an on/off lever. But ok. 3. 30 min after we checked out yet, she texts “Why is the refrigerator pulled out from the wall”? I told her I had no idea. She sent a picture of the fridge being 2 inches away from the wall. I assured her that my wife/kids were not strong enough to move the heavy kitchen appliances. And that I hadn’t rearranged it. Her next text “...nobody else was in the property after you checked out so that’s a little confusing as to how that happens”. Honestly all these annoying accusations & texts really put a damper on the last 3 days of our vacation. Our cabin owners for 8 days prior were very thoughtful. We will definitely return to this area as it was beautiful, but will not do business with Tammy again.

We had a great time at the Trout Haven Cabin. Woke up to Elk in the yard, and were often greeted by Big Horn Sheep, Pronghorn, and Elk on the road to/from the cabin. Even saw a coyote one night. Husband loved that he could walk to fish on the river. Easy access to the North part of Yellowstone.Cabin is well appointed and comfortable, everything we could need! Will definitely book again if we come back to this area.

Our family loved the location of this property. It was very close to the Gardiner entrance to the park and we loved the views from the cabin. The road getting there isn’t paved but we got used to it and it’s a short drive. It was clean and cozy. It was nice and quiet other than the sound of the elk which we enjoyed. I would recommend staying here.

Clean and comfortable with a view

This home was well described and very comfortable. It was extremely clean, and well organized. You can tell that this is important to the owner. Great views of the mountains - you almost feel like you are in the park!The only minor inconvenience is having to take the trash off site.The grocery store is about 20 minutes down the road, and there is an incredibly good BBQ permanent “food truck” in Gardiner. We picked up brisket here twice on the way out of the park before heading back to the house. Yum!

Views are Perfection!

This home was absolutely perfect for our family of five! Each bedroom having its own bathroom was such a luxury and made getting ready each day a breeze. The washer and dryer were a huge bonus and so convenient during our stay. There was plenty of space for everyone to relax, whether we were lounging together in the living area, cooking meals, or enjoying dinner as a family.But what truly stole the show were the views—absolutely breathtaking from every window! We found ourselves constantly pausing to take it all in. It was so peaceful and beautiful, we honestly didn’t want to leave. We’re already dreaming of our next visit!

Perfect location

The trout haven is in a perfect location to enjoy your Yellowstone vacation. The drive in is a little gravelly but well worth it. The house was fully stocked and had the best views! The beds were comfy and had plenty room for our family of 5 adults. Grocery store in town had all you need to stock up for lunches in the park and dinner at night. I cannot recommend this house enough. We can’t wait to get back

Nice clean cabin with beautiful views!!

We will definitely remember this cabin and recommend it to others. Very convenient to Yellowstone, shops and restaurants. We enjoyed seeing the elk and mule deer right outside. What a beautiful view of the mountains through the cabin's huge picture windows. We enjoyed grilling one evening and sitting on the patio in the fresh air. Cabin was very clean. Owner very pleasant to deal with and easy check in and out.
