The Octagon House is situated in a perfect location and offers amazing views of the mountains. We stayed in Emigrant for a week prior to our daughters wedding and location was perfect, home was spacious and stunning! Denise, the property manager was so kind & helpful through the pre-check in process. She made sure we had all of the information needed. Everything we wanted to do and or visit was only minutes away, yet the property was peaceful and private. We highly recommend! Priscilla & Mike

Hi Priscilla and Mike, so glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you for the lovely review. We look forward to hosting you again. Thx Georgie :)
Pictures do not do justice to these wonderful views of Montana mountains! The home is well oriented to showcase the views all around! As advertised, the home is about 30 miles away from the North entrance to Yellowstone. The description was accurate and the home was clean. The property manager was phenomenal. She was courteous, accommodating, and helpful. I would stay again. Wonderful!
Amazing 360 mountain views with the best kitchen I have ever cooked in!
We had a wonderful stay! The house gave us a lot to talk about. The views are amazing from the bedrooms to the porches, and every room within the house.. We really enjoyed the arrival snacks and cooking in the kitchen. The kitchen was stocked with all your favorite cooking gadgets and more than the basic kitchen spices, mustards, and other refrigerator stables. A fantastic location for fly fishing, a spa day, hiking, visiting Yellowstone Park (hopefully the flood damaged North entrance road will re-open soon), or catching live outdoor music at the Pine Creek Lodge about 20 minutes from the house. It was the perfect venue for our girl’s weekend. We would definitely stay again at The Octagon house. Denise and the property managers promptly answered any questions we had prior and during our stay.
Awesome place. The view is good. But inside the house there were all kind of different gods and praying Matt’s. Just a creepy feeling being in the middle of nowhere and everywhere I turned is a different god or religious figure. We filled up the hot tub and turned it on and all kind of stuff came out the jets. We went up there for my wedding and we booked this place because of the huge living rooms and kitchens. So we could have family members and friends there. But that wasn’t the case. The owner wanted 1000 extra for me to have a dinner there with everyone. We only slept one night in it. Then moved to a different place because of how uncomfortable it was. (Booked it from March 1st - 7th) they offered to come remove statues but at that point I was over it. Like I said. Awesome views. And awesome construction on the house. Just wish we would of did more research before booking.

The Octagon is decorated with a variety of artwork and statues from around the world. Some are spiritual, some are traditional American art and others abstract art. The rugs that the guests defined as "prayer mats" are actually typical oriental rugs and runners. These lovely rugs are tastefully positioned on our floors to walk on as they would be in any normal home.
As the guest mentioned, when they informed us that they were “uncomfortable” with our artwork, our house manager offered to come over and remove it. At first the guests agreed to that. That same day the guests also mentioned they were having a small dinner party with a total of 9 people, to which we agreed at no additional fee. Later that afternoon when our manager asked when she could remove the artwork, the female guest said that it was actually not a problem or necessary to remove anything. It was at this time she then mentioned they were actually planning a bigger event of 20-40 people, to which the house manager recommended talking with our rentals manager, as that usually requires prior approval and an area fee.
Hot Tub - The tub is always cleaned and sanitized before guests arrive. The house manager was in contact with the guests a number of times during their stay and received no complaint about colored water coming into the hot tub. After the guests departed, we discovered the Jacuzzi controls still powered on (which could have potentially burned out the motor) and the inside of the tub covered with a darkish substance, plus a darker ring up high on the tub indicating someone had taken a bath(s) in that substance.
Additionally, our house manager and cleaners were surprised and stunned by the conditions left behind by the guests. Sadly, these conditions reflected disrespect and an uncaring attitude for Lucile’s personal property, not to mention that these have and will incur extra time, energy and expense. These conditions also directly violated our house rules, guidelines and clear instructions about our appliances, to mention a few:
1) Multiple Doors were left unlocked and Lights left on.
2) Multiple Windows left open and due to high winds caused damage to 1 of the window frames
3) The AC was left on and set to 50 degrees during winter in Montana?
4) Kitchen was very messy. Food left all over the kitchen counters n floors. Lots of Dishes n sink and a spill on the stove went between the oven glass which will be impossible to remove!
5) Multiple Mugs/Glasses missing
We had the most amazing time at the octagon celebrating my sister and boyfriends birthday. It was in a great location where we enjoyed hot springs as well as local live music. The views were unbelievable with the most gorgeous sunset. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a tranquil getaway.
This property was absolutely spectacular. The views were amazing from every vantage point in the house. Denise, the property manager was incredibly responsive, and she left some nice snacks for us upon arrival. I would highly recommend this property. We hope to return sometime in the future.
Would recommend this property to anyone looking for stunning views, and peace and quiet 😍😍 would be a magical place for an elopement as well!

Not what we were expecting.
Looking at the pictures on this property it looks amazing and it was a very nice place. But when we got there all of the decor inside is new age gods it is a very religious and spiritual house. There were praying mats upstairs with shrines of many different gods. On the property there is a underground doomsday bunker. There is cameras on the outside of the house that didn’t bother me but there were cameras on the inside of the house as well. It was not a house that me nor my family felt comfortable in we all slept in the same room and locked door at night.

Dylon we are disappointed to hear you had a negative experience but the feeling is mutual. It appears as though the Welcome Manual was not read:
- Item 17) Security Cameras: These are turned completely off prior to your arrival. They are turned on only when the house is vacant - - between guests.
- The rugs around the house are simply oriental rugs.
- We attempted to communicate with you during and then again after your trip (about the severely stained comforter) but were unsuccessful.
- We chose not to review you about the dishonest booking guest numbers, cleanliness and lack of communication; instead of leaving a negative review affecting your future travel plans.
** We have only ever received raving 5 star reviews from both VRBO and AirBnB.
First of all, the house itself was AMAZING!! We didn't want to leave. The views and just the house itself was everything it was advertised to be and more. All our communication with the host was wonderful and we were even greeted with snacks which was perfect since we checked in late and had not eaten dinner! She even remembered that one of our family members had food allergies and left special snacks for her! Highly recommend you stay here but be prepared to want to stay in the house and not venture out!
We had a glorious week in the Octagon house. The view from atop its hill is absolutely spectacular. The house itself is luxurious and ultra contemporary, yet it lends itself to peaceful, introspective thought and conversation. Denise was very communicative and thoughtful. She left nice touches for us. Heads up that it does not have AC so making strategic use of the shades, windows and doors is a must. We would definitely book here again!
