Chalet with mountain views, private garden, next to ski slope & hiking trails
Chalet Franzi – A quiet mountain retreat next to the ski slope
Chalet Franzi is located in a prime, quiet position with beautiful views over the village, the Gastein Valley and the impressive Bernkogel mountain. It is a place for guests who enjoy the mountains, nature and a relaxed atmosphere – away from noise, yet close to everything.
The chalet has a long family history. My grandparents, Peter and Franzi, already ran the house as a small inn from the 1960s onwards. We continue in their footsteps today and welcome our guests with the same idea: offering a calm and comfortable retreat in the mountains.
Chalet Franzi consists of two separate apartments, each occupying one full floor of the house. Together, the chalet accommodates up to 8 guests, plus one additional sofa bed, making it ideal for families or groups of friends travelling together.
In winter, the chalet is located right next to the ski slope, allowing you to start and end your ski day without using a car or ski bus. In summer, hiking trails begin directly outside the door, making Chalet Franzi a perfect base for exploring the mountains.
A large private garden with plenty of space around the house is exclusively available for our guests. Four private parking spaces are located just a short walk away.
Chalet Franzi is suitable for guests who appreciate space, privacy and a quiet setting, while still enjoying easy access to skiing, hiking and the village.

About the host
Hosted by Ernst
I am a filmmaker by profession. When my grandmother passed away, I felt a strong wish to keep the house where I had spent so much of my childhood.
My grandmother Franziska – Franzi – had already been welcoming guests here since the 1960s. Chalet Franzi was always a place where people came together, shared time, and enjoyed the mountains. Growing up, it was the guests I met and the moments we shared that stayed with me.
When Franzi passed away, it felt natural to continue what she had started. Today, we still welcome guests to Chalet Franzi with the same idea: offering a calm, welcoming place in the mountains where people can feel comfortable, relaxed, and at home.
Why they chose this property
I didn’t actively choose this neighborhood – it was chosen by my grandparents. They built the house here many decades ago, long before it became a tourist destination, because of its quiet setting, open views and direct access to the mountains.
Over time, it became clear how special this location is: right next to the ski slope, with hiking trails starting nearby, yet calm and removed from busy roads. We simply continued what began here years ago and adapted the house carefully for today’s guests.
For us, it still feels like the right place – a location shaped by history, nature and a slower rhythm that many guests appreciate today.
What makes this property unique
Chalet Franzi is a family-owned house with a long history of welcoming guests. It has grown over decades and has always been cared for with attention and respect for the place. Rather than being designed as a typical holiday rental, it reflects a personal approach to hosting.
The chalet combines a quiet setting and direct access to skiing and hiking with a thoughtful, high-quality interior. We value good materials, solid equipment and details that make the house comfortable and pleasant to stay in, without being showy.
With two separate apartments, Chalet Franzi offers space for families or groups to spend time together while still enjoying privacy. Many guests appreciate that the house feels calm, personal and well maintained – a place shaped by experience, quality and genuine hospitality.
