Pic Saint-Loup, which overlooks the production area, gives it its name. Since January 2017, the vineyard has benefited from a specific AOC. It was previously the most northerly of the fifteen geographical names within the appellation of controlled origin Languedoc, this last appellation covering almost the entire vineyard of Languedoc-Roussillon.
