About this property

School in the Catskills

Built in 1901, this one-room Catskill schoolhouse was in use until the 1950s. In the 1960s, an addition was built. In 2018 we completed a full renovation and restoration of the property.

The Schoolhouse has 2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a modern kitchen, and walking paths through 5 acres of private forest leading to a pristine creek bordering a 4th generation farm.

More information
The Schoolhouse is 8 min from Catskill, 20 min from Woodstock, Hudson, Saugerties and Athens, and 25 min from Hunter Mountain.

What a great find!! The school house was so cute and unique in a quiet setting - perfect for a get away weekend. The place was immaculate and the owners were so helpful in giving us great tips for dining and exploring. The fact that the schoolhouse is an historic landmark just made it even more spectacular!

My wife is an architect and I am a math teacher and together we restored this house over the past 3 years.

Why they chose this property

Over 100 years old, this historic interior features an open living room and dining area, original hardwood floors throughout, a spacious contemporary kitchen with Corian countertops and generously-sized island. The master bedroom, which overlooks an old growth forest, has a queen size bed and ensuite bathroom. The guest bedroom also has a queen size bed and is down the hall from the second full bathroom. Both bathrooms feature Toto toilets, Speakman shower fixtures, Grohe faucets, and newly installed tile throughout.

Just a short drive from The Schoolhouse, you'll find great restaurants, coffee shops, breweries, antique shops, boutiques, and grocery stores. Up the mountain, you'll find many hiking trails, cross country and downhill skiing, and the Catskill Forest Preserve, home to North-South Lake and Kaaterskill Falls. Hudson is just 20 minutes away, and the town of Catskill (home to our favorite coffee shop/bar/venue HiLo) is an 8 minute drive from our doorstep. Athens, Leeds, and Woodstock are also within 20 minutes from our place and have some great spots to shop and eat.

We have way too many favorites to list them all here. If you'd like some planning tips/suggestions on how to spend your days, please message us, we would love to help.
