Beautiful modern Swiss cottage that comfortably sleeps 8. Located in the Private Sleepy Hollow Lake community in Athens, NY.

Spacious house featuring spectacular Catskill and Berkshire mountain views. Semi secluded, with all comforts and amenities to make it a first class offering.

Whatever the occasion, our ultimate goal is to provide a home away from home. Whether it's family, friends or business, we hope you're able to create beautiful, long lasting memories.

The first floor consists of a living room, office area, 2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a sun/recreational room.

The second floor consists of an open living room and dining area with a central 3-sided marble fireplace, a fully equip kitchen & a master bedroom/bathroom. (two patios on this level)

The third floor consists of a loft area over looking living space that has a bedroom, 2 sitting areas, and a half bathroom.

Entire home will be available for each booking.

Other things to note

Property is located in the Hudson River Valley 2.5 hours north of New York City. Sleepy Hollow Lake is a 2200 acre private community surrounding a 2 1/2 mile lake.

Guests will have access to all Sleepy Hollow amenities including, beach access, pools, tennis courts, basketball courts and dog beach/park.


The town of Hudson is 15 mins away from the property which is famous for restaurants, art galleries and antic shops. Albany, New York is a half hour away from property.

The house itself has eclectic decor but is expansive and was spacious enough for myself, my husband, 17 year old daughter and my parents. We wach had our own bedroom and bathroom with bedrooms and bathrooms to spare. My parents brought their shih tzu and everyone was more than comfortable. The kitchen was on the 2nd floor which was a little strange but was nice when we grilled and ate on the porch with lovely views. At night we watched the fireflies. During the day we drove into Hudson and spent time at the community pool and lake. We had a lovely weekend. Tom let us check out late which was generous of him. The house had everything we needed and more.

In Great Hands with Tomas

In looking through the pictures & reading the reviews, my girlfriend and I decided to take a relaxing weekend away. The house was very unique and easily one of my favorite stays. It's conveniently located next to Hudson, Catskill and other quaint cities and the drives are picturesque in the fall. Tomas (the owner) was incredibly accommodating and extremely kind. He gave us a great breakdown of the property, the house, and helped make the stay very comfortable. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend others to stay here!

This is a wondrous house!!!!

The minute you walk in the door, the stress just melts away. I must say the host, Thomas, is a truly incredible human being. We arrived and he had put so much heart and work into making our stay feel special. He absolutely gives you your privacy , but he is also a fountain of information and warmth. We felt so welcomed, so cared for, and because of this the 4 of us has a magnificent weekend in this truly majestic house. I can not recommend it enough. Between the views, the giant ceilings, the large open layout — its in incredible: but on too of that to have an owner who cares SO much - it was like having a Concerige at a 5 star hotel at all times. This home is not to be missed, I can guarantee we will be back not only in winter, spring and summer too. WHAT A FIND!!!!

Most unique house I've ever stayed in.

This house has an incredibly eclectic collection of artwork and statues as well as very interesting grounds with lots of seating areas and decks to sit on to enjoy the views. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the property manager was very attentive. The layout of the house was very unique, but there are a few drawbacks to the house. We stayed on the third floor which was only accessible by a narrow spiral staircase and it was quite a challenge to get the suitcases up the staircase. The bathroom on the third floor didn't have a functional shower and is very outdated and needs maintenance. There are lots of free-standing statues and busts all around the house which was fine for us but I would worry about small children or dogs running into them and knocking them over. The porches on the house were lovely they have nice outdoor furniture on them and had lovely views. We enjoyed having coffee out on the deck in the morning.The problem is they really need maintenance The deck boards are splintering and the railings are in bad shape. It had a great location since we were going to a wedding in Coxsackie and it was only an 8-minute drive.

Fabulous hub for family get-together

We were a family of 6 adults, generally willing to go with the flow but also vocal and opinionated about the places we stay. Everyone in the group LOVED our stay here, for a host of reasons: 1) Host: Incredibly responsive and communicative. Above and beyond. After I mentioned the family had suffered a loss during Covid and we were hoping to lift mom's spirits on Mother's Day, we arrived to a house filled with Mother's Day balloons. It made her smile with surprise and happiness. Priceless. A left-behind item was sent to us with uncanny speed. He supplied local recommendations. In sum, just a swell and caring host. 2) House: Quirky and delightful. We loved finding and chatting about the art on every wall. It's not museum-like, though, it's super comfortable. Literally more space than we could use over our long weekend – whole rooms we hardly entered but which could be a life-saver for larger family gatherings that need space for privacy and separate interests. The living room was a great place to sprawl. The spaces pictured on the listing are exactly as shown (the upstairs suite has its own bathroom and feels very private despite its position as a loft). But there are even more sitting areas and hang-out spaces than pictured, and an office. Plus, the deck was a terrific spot to lounge – and much more outdoor space we didn't get a chance to use. So much space! An incredible value. 3) Packing: We had to buy some travel-size hand soap mid-way through the visit but apart from food and books, that was it. Leave everything else behind, because it's here. Beds were comfortable and linens provided so no need to tote those or mattress pads. 4) Hanging out: Remarkably for us (we're big device and TV users) we never once turned on the TV, spending time talking, doing a jigsaw, cooking, eating and visiting local towns & sites. 5) Location: Hudson's just 15 min away and you could easily spend multiple days poking into the shops and restaurants there. Coxsackie had just a tiny handful but we managed to spend a solid hour or two in them because of thoughtful curation, plus the waterfront park is charming. Catskill had enough shops and cafes for a day or crammed afternoon. Just the tip of the iceberg, though. Fab sight-seeing. A long weekend not nearly enough time. We spend a LONG time choosing a home base for family trips, comparing descriptions and reviewing comments of dozens and dozens of possible homes here on VRBO. This exceeded expectations.

Large and Comfortable House in Greene County

This large three floor house accommodated our five family members with a well stocked kitchen, comfortable furniture and beds. There was a multitude of art everywhere you looked. Thomas was very a terrific host who took great care with our needs.

Unique house and quaint location

Very unique house, especially the decor. Spacious. Two wonderful patios, one with a fantastic view of the mountains. Tomas was a fantastic host, even offering to drive us around a few times. We had a nice experience talking to him over breakfast and hearing some of his old stories.

It’s a great home, and the host went above and beyond. He was so nice, welcoming, accommodating, considerate, made sure we knew everything we could in order to have the best stay, & even left a gift for my friend for their birthday (that was the reason we went). Would love to stay there again

Owner is nice,helpful and responsive Place is spacious, most of the time we stayed on 2nd floor where kitchen and comfy leather furniture is located. Can't comment on community facilities since we did not use them,but they looked good when we walked by Hope this helps

Our stay was wonderful. We enjoyed the space the home had to offer and the kids loved playing pool!

The owner Thomas was very accommodating and responded in a timely manner when contacted. He even went to the store to buy us coffee and milk when he found out we didn’t have these items. Late check out was provided.

Amazing house, amazing break.

Tom Garcia is the most gracious host I've ever dealt with in the vrbo universe. He is kind, generous, welcoming and...just like the tomatoes he left for us...sweet. The house was perfect...lots of space for everyone to do their own thing. And we all collected at the end of the day to make dinner in the kitchen and on eat grill and hang in the public space. Fabulous house; great vibe. The pool and lake are great. We used both every day. Looking forward to the next time.

Relaxing stay in Sleepy Hollow

When we arrived at the house we were pleasantly surprised that it was exactly as pictured and very large. We are a family of 8 including 2 young grandchildren. We enjoyed the eclectic decor and Thomas was very responsive when we had questions or needed anything. The house was extremely clean as well. We also really enjoyed the multiple decks and view. The pool and beach are around a mile / short drive from the house and they were fantastic! We also took advantage of exploring some of the nice towns along the Hudson. In addition, we explored Olana which is a beautiful home and property overlooking the Hudson River built by artist Frederic Church in the 1800’s. It is now run by New York State and we were free to explore the 250 acre property- entering the house requires a pay-for tour. The only reason we are giving the house 4 stars instead of 5 is there are some things that need attention such as some plumbing and electrical issues (lights and outlets not working, one shower out of order, etc) but they didn’t hinder our experience. We were told a recent visitor/ child caused the issues but we aren’t so sure about that. Despite this we would definitely stay here again and Thomas was the perfect host.

Great weekend in Sleepy Hollow Lake

We had a great time. House is kind of quirky and interesting. From reading the reviews I knew that there were 3 floors and that the top floor was up a spiral staircase but did not appreciate that it was open to the second floor so not as private. But the kids stayed up there and loved it. They felt like they had a tree house! There is a bathroom on every floor which is nice. My 80 year old mother stayed on the second floor so her bedroom was on the same floor as the kitchen and dining and living room which was convenient. The central air worked great and we were there during a 90+ degree heat wave. Thomas our host was so lovely. He was there when we arrived and welcomed us in and showed me how to use all of the keys and walked us through the entire house. He even opened cabinets and drawers in the kitchen so we would know where everything was kept. Beds were comfy and we had everything we needed in the kitchen for cooking. I loved that the dining room table was set for a fancy dinner party, but that the plates that were set out were still dishwasher friendly. We used the pool and lake in the development. All of the decks and balcony spaces were great and the kids loved the room with the pool table. There is so much interesting art work to look at and I loved the stained glass on the top floor. Lots of great little nooks for reading and chilling.

Wonderful house within a beautiful shared lakefront community

We had a wonderful time staying at Mr. Garcia's house. It is a lovely house with great balconies and central air conditioning. The pool and lakefront with beach and swimming area are well maintained. There is a dog beach as well, which was great for our dog to swim at. It’s a 4-5 min drive and it’s not walkable for kids or if you’re towing a lot of gear and picnic. We knew that going in but it’s helpful to know. Probably a great easy bike ride. There is a large assortment of board games for people to play as well. Very considerate hosts. Kitchen has more equipment and tools than anywhere I’ve stayed in a while. Fantastic flatware and dinnerware too. Very clean. Central air works well. We were very comfortable. We had a great time and we would go back.

Eclectic with easy pool and lake access

As others reviews mention, the decor is really standout here. Maximalist all the way! Yet surprisingly child friendly if you’re kids aren’t super rambunctious or early walkers. My daughters are 6 months and 4 years old. The baby wasn’t mobile enough to do any damage and the 4yo is way past the stage of pulling on furniture or putting things in her mouth. We just had to be very vigilant on the spiral staircase to third floor (even adults need to mind their steps there.) The pool and lakefront with beach and swimming area are well maintained. It’s a 4-5 min drive and it’s not walkable for kids or if you’re towing a lot of gear and picnic. We knew that going in but it’s helpful to know. Probably a great easy bike ride. Very considerate hosts. Kitchen has more equipment and tools than anywhere I’ve stayed in a while. Fantastic flatware and dinnerware too. Very clean. A few patio and shower doors need attention but everything is in good condition. Central air works well. We were very comfortable. A memorable stay for sure; I certainly recommend!

Beautiful lake with great amenities

The Wedding

I saw Thomas house on line. Great big over the top wonderful place perfect for our family. We were met by Thomas a gracious gentleman who worked at the Plaza Hotel , Palm Room for 50 years. Thomas treated us as valued clients and regaled us with stories of his time at the Plaza and the people he met while waiting there. A great experence.

Wonderful Weekend Getaway!

Highly recommend renting this property! Went with a few friends Memorial Day weekend and it was clean, spacious, and a quick drive into Hudson’s main strip of stores, shops, and events. Enjoyed the lakeside pool a quick 5min drive from the property. Was very clean, safe, and the owner was incredibly helpful and attentive! 10/10 would come back soon!
